Social Stamping - #14 Out of the Box

Out of the Box with World of Good Suite

Hello. Welcome to Valley inspirations with Andrea and the 14th Weekly Social Stamping Blog Hop. The amazingly talented Kelly Kent has been the instigator and coordinator of this Blog Hop and we are so thankful for the opportunity to share creativity during this time of upheaval due to COVID-19.

This weeks theme is "out of the box". Hmm - what is that all about? My mind went to the way many people are bursting at the seems to be out of lockdown and getting back to normality - well whatever normality looks like in our current times. In an attempt to break free from restrictions many are forgetting lessons learnt about social distancing, washing hands and the like and so raising fists to the virus to say "catch me if you can" - so there!

How can this be interpreted as a project for this blog hop??? My mind went to the image of a box, that when opened there was something that exploded out. This thought led me to creating a box that when opened a cube, which had been squished flat inside the box, all of a sudden jumped out and formed its full size that was much taller than the original box. Box One.

Of course my mind also went to a different idea. I love chocolate and boxes full of this delicious sweet treat. Opening the box allows us to partake of the delicious enjoyable contents - hopefully this is our future as we progress out of lockdown to a fuller life. Or at least, with the right attitude, we can do things to enjoy the "journey" along the way. Box Two.

BOX 1: This box is a matchbox style box about .. x .. x 1/2". (Sorry its in inches - but I often revert to inches when creating boxes, not sure why.) The box is made in two seperate pieces; the bottom tray and a sleeve that the tray slides into. Both were created in Basic Black card-stock, with the sleeve decorated with the World of Good Speciality Designer Series Paper, which is part of the World of Good Suite. The sentiment, feather and ink pot all came from the Beautiful World stamp set. All were stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with different Emboss Powders, ie Gold, Black and White Emboss Powders. The Faux Suede Trim ribbon and buckles (Antique Corners & Slides embellishments) were also from the same Suite. I so love the coordination of products by Stampin' Up!

Here's a close up of the main design elements:

The box is starting to open ...

And here, the box has opened and a cube of 2.5" x 2.5" x 2.5" has emerged. It looks bigger than the 0.5" deep box. I couldn't resist adding some chocolates. Its Haigg's chocolate, an exceptional SA chocolate business that has been around for over 100years and has now explored interstate markets. Haigg's is my favourite chocolate. The cube has been decorated with pieces of the SDSP and brass die cut pieces on 4 sides, leaving the folded/split faces without decoration to not impede the mechanism.

BOX 2: The second box is a similar matchbox style with the tray made from Thick Whisper White card-stock and the sleeve created from Merry Merlot card-stock. The box front was also cut from Merry Merlot and then embossed with one of the embossing folders from the Meadows Moments embossing folders set. Both the Sleeve and the box front had a jar shaped hole punched out using the Jar punch. A Mason Jar Shaker Dome was adhered between the box front and sleeve and the sleeve was folded and adhered together.

The spray of flowers is from the Jar of Flowers stamp set, which was stamped in Momento ink and the coloured with Stampin' Blends. Don't you love the pop of colour of the tulips. They were coloured in one of the new In Colours, ie Magenta Madness, with a touch of Petal Pink. The spray of flowers was also stamped a second time on Whisper White card-stock and three tulips coloured individually. They were fussy cut and popped up on Mini Dimensionals to give extra 3D effect. As the final touch a bow was added using Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

It will be interesting to see what happens as our society escapes the box of lockdown.  Some say we won't be able to push everyone back into the lockdown box. I certainly hope and pray that we will not need to try, but we continue to behave well, respect and support each other and any outbreaks are managed well.

Thank you for visiting the Valley Inspirations blog. I do appreciate you spending time with me. Please contact me if you would like any further information about the boxes; or if you live in Australia and would like a new Annual Catalogue posted to you; or if I can help in any other way.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase - #4 Blackberry Bliss

Blackberry Bliss with Lovely You

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 4th Colour Creations Showcase by members of the Art With Heart Team in Australia.

This week we are heroing a gorgeous colour, Blackberry Bliss. This colour is a deep and a somewhat muted rich blackberry colour. It sits within Stampin' Up!'s Regal's colour range.  I so love the way Stampin' Up! coordinate colours and take a colour through a range of their products. In my projects I have used Blackberry Bliss in card-stock, ink pad, re-inker, Stampin Blends and as one of the colours in the Rainbow Glimmer Paper

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

First, a pattern was stamped all over a piece of A4 Whisper White card-stock using the Lovely You stamp set. These stamps are so great for creating your own designer patterned paper. There is a range of stamps in different sizes that fit well together. You could use a number of complimentary colours or one colour. I decided to use 3 colours that harmonise together and underscore the beauty of Blackberry Bliss. A couple of days ago, I was reminded of the soft melding of colours that occurs using the Baby Wipe Technique. This technique uses folded baby wipes as a base to create your own ink pad. I dripped Blackberry Bliss , Rococo Rose and Blushing Bride inks on the baby wipes and used it to ink the stamps, before stamping all over the Whisper White card-stock. Here's a section of my patterned paper:

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

The card base and the bottom layer of the card front were cut from Blackberry Bliss card-stock. The card front bottom layer was embossed with the new Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder. Such a lovely effect, as seen in this close up.

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

A piece of the stamped patterned paper was trimmed so it would fit at an angle over the card front and then it was lightly splattered with Wink of Stella.  It was mounted on the new multicolour Rainbow Glimmer Paper, positioning it so that the Blackberry Bliss section would be seen as it blended into Magenta Madness on one side and Misty Moonlight on the other. The pop of colour and the glimmer add life to the card. The mounted patterned piece was adhered directly to the card front.

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

The sentiment came from the same stamp set and was stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White card-stock and trimmed to a 3/4" strip. A coordinating new product that bundles with the Lovely You stamp set is an amazing punch. It punches fancy ends - ie 2 different styles. A second and larger label was cut from Blackberry Bliss card-stock. The label was popped up on Dimensionals.

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

Another new product is the luscious Forever Greenery Suite. (I so love this suite.) Two dies from this suite cut 2 sprays of leaves from Blackberry Bliss and Vellum card-stocks. They were splattered with a little Wink of Stella, adhered together and then to the edge of the label. To finish of the card, a piece of Metallic Edged Ribbon was coloured with a Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin Blend. Basic Rhinestones were also coloured with the same Blend. While Stampin' Up! regularly produce embellishments in coordinating colours, there is always another option - that of colouring desired embellishments with colouring products, such as Stampin' Blends. For me, colour coordination it is important, so colouring ribbon, twine, rhinestones or pearls with my project's key colours ensure great colour matching.

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

I love to coordinate the card front with the inside of the card and also provide a hint on the envelope. This time I stamped the larger stylised flower inside the card and on the envelope. A thin strip of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper was adhered to the bottom of the card inner.

Andrea Sargent, Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Forever Greenery, Blackberry Bliss, Baby Wipe Technique

The hand stamped patterned paper was also used to create a matching little gift box. Stampin' Up! have a die that cuts this cute little gift box that would also make a gorgeous table favour. The dies are called Mini Curvy Keepsake Box. The die not only cuts the edges, but also scores fold lines and cuts slots and holes to enable the box to be put together. To finish this little box off, ribbon was coloured and two tags were cut using one of the tiny labels from the same die set. They were tied on the box with a little gold twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack.

The card and the Mini Curvy Keepsake box work together so well to tell a friend how much I value our friendship.

Social Stamping - #13 Thinking of You

Thinking of You with Forever Greenery Suite +

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Social Stamping Blog Hop for another week. This is our 13th week of blog hopping together with huge Thanks to Kelly Kent - our amazing coordinator. Our theme this week is "Thinking of You".

I hope you have been enjoying all the projects that have been inspired by the "Thinking of You" theme.  Even though we are gradually moving out of intense COVID-19 restrictions, there are still many limitations, including crossing State borders (that is in a number of states) requiring quarantining. We are still limited in visiting family and friends who live over state borders or overseas. Sending a "Thinking of you" message across the miles/kilometres is so important so special folk know that you care. Here's my card that will be travelling across borders, as its not easy for me to cross Australia:

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Forever Fernery Suite, Ornate Borders, Social Stamping blog hop

This was one of those cards that didn't fall into place easily. Initially, I had a different type of leaf spray in mind but when it didn't balance well, I changed plans, removed some elements and added flowers. Even though I love the Forever Greenery colour palette, I thought I would use a different colour scheme. I am very partial to the combination of Very Vanilla, Petal Pink and Gold and have also added a hint of Crumb Cake.

The card base was cut from Thick Very Vanilla card-stock. The card front was created with a central panel of Very Vanilla card-stock that was mounted on Petal Pink card-stock and thin strips were cut from Gold Foil card-stock. The central piece of Very Vanilla was embossed using one of the Greenery embossing folders. Both embossing folders are gorgeous; and this one has leaf sprays from both the top and bottom.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Forever Fernery Suite, Ornate Borders, Social Stamping blog hop

One of the card's design feature is the gorgeous fine Gold Hoop embellishment. Just love it. It appears to be hung in place with the soft ribbon and gold thread from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack. Another beautiful element is a gold spray of leaves from the Forever Gold Laser-cut Speciality Paper. The tiny gold leaves pop out from behind the flowers. Other sprays of leaves were cut in Vellum card-stock using the lovely Forever Flourishing dies. The camera hasn't picked up the vellum leaves very well to show their subtle effect. I had stamped and cut a range of different leaves from the delightful Forever Fern stamp set (a distinktive designed set). While these leaves will be used on another project, the splatter stamp from the set was used to add some light Petal Pink & Crumb Cake splatters. The sentiment came from the new Lovely You stamp set and was stamped in Flirty Flamingo ink to enable the sentiment to stand out more than if I had used Petal Pink. The colour is similar, just a little brighter. I quite often like to use a strong colour that compliments the card's colour scheme as a change from the sentiment being in black.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Forever Fernery Suite, Ornate Borders, Social Stamping blog hop

The flowers were die cut from Petal Pink card-stock using the Ornate Borders dies. To add extra interest and softness, the flower edges were sponged using a Sponge Dauber with Petal Pink ink and some White Craft Pigment ink was sponged lightly on the centre of the flowers. Each flower was squished into firm foam to give shape before being adhered to the card front. Basic Pearls were added to the centre of each flower and 3 small pearls were also scattered nearby.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Forever Fernery Suite, Ornate Borders, Social Stamping blog hop

The card inner was created with a centralised panel of Very Vanilla card-stock with 2 thin strips of Petal Pink card-stock adhered on either side. This lessened the bulk of another layer of card-stock. The Forever Fern splatters were stamped in Petal Pink ink with small Crumb Cake and vellum leaf sprays that were tied with the Gold Trim. A 'Thinking of You' sentiment from the Beautiful Moments stamp set was stamped in Flirty Flamingo ink and fussy cut in 2 pieces.

Art With Heart Creative Showcase - June 2020

Wow. Gorgeous New Stampin’ Up! Products

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Team's Monthly Creative Showcase for June.

This week we are featuring projects using some of our favourite products from the new Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. The new catalogue is full of amazing new stamp sets, some bundled with dies or punches. The range of kits, papers and accessories complete a new catalogue of great products and you will see some of the loveliness featured in this month's Showcase.

I have been stalking the delivery vans for my order of new products from the new Annual Catalogue and at last it arrived ... this afternoon. No time to open it before this blog goes live, however, as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, we have a special opportunity to purchase select new products the month prior to the Catalogue 'go live' date. It is one of the great privileges of being a Demo.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Tasteful Touches, In Good Taste DSP, Forever Flourishing dies, Butterfly Wishes

I bought the gorgeous In Good Taste Suite during pre-order. I so love this suite; the images, the labels, the coordinating Designer Series Paper and the embellishments. Another love from the new catalogue is the Forever Greenery Suite - so gorgeous. I've used products from both the Good Taste  and the Forever Greenery Suites in my card.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Tasteful Touches, In Good Taste DSP, Forever Flourishing dies, Butterfly Wishes

This card uses one of the stunning designs from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper as the background. There are so many wood, tile, marble and woven neutral designs. A piece of the tile DSP was mounted on Whisper White card-stock. (I won't describe the problems I had with this simple step - enough to say that in the end 2 pieces of the white card-stock were adhered and then trimmed down, with the front panel finally mounted on a 3rd piece of Whisper White card-stock.)  I chose this DSP design as it coordinated well with the Rococo Rose stamped roses from the Tasteful Touches stamp set. The roses were stamped on a seperate piece of Whisper White card-stock, coloured with Stampin' Blends and then fussy cut. The leaf spray from the same stamp set was stamped diagonally on the card front in Gray Granite ink. A piece of Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon was adhered across the middle (some Tear & Tape adhesive worked brilliantly). There is a luscious Gold Metallic Trim in the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack. I divided out a couple of threads from a piece of this trim and circled them over the DSP.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Tasteful Touches, In Good Taste DSP, Forever Flourishing dies, Butterfly Wishes

One of the leaf dies from the Forever Flourishing dies was used to cut a couple of leaf sprays in Vellum and 4 small dies cut little leaf sprays in Champagne Foil. (It's great the way Stampin' Up! provide multiple dies of certain pieces that you are likely to cut multiple elements for a card as it reduces the number of passes through the Die Cutting Machine.) A few wooden leaf accents from the In Good Taste Elements were selected as well. All these pieces were arranged, with some adhered directly to the card front and the flowers popped up with Dimensionals

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Tasteful Touches, In Good Taste DSP, Forever Flourishing dies, Butterfly Wishes

The sentiment came from the continuing Butterfly Wishes stamp set and it was stamped in Versamark ink on Rococo Rose card-stock and heat embossed using White Stampin' Emboss powder. The sentiment was cut out using the Paper Trimmer and the ends flagged with Paper Snips. To finish the card front, a few Gilded Gems were added. The card front was adhered to a Gray Granite card-stock card base.

Andrea Sargent, Valley Inspirations, Stampin' Up!, Tasteful Touches, In Good Taste DSP, Forever Flourishing dies, Butterfly Wishes

As usual I have added a coordinating piece of Whisper White card-stock inside the card that had the rose also stamped in Rococo Rose ink and a strip of the same DSP at the bottom.

I only have one card to share for this Showcase. I had a couple of other cards also designed in my mind - but time has run out. I hope my card has spiked some ideas for you to try.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop - #3 Bermuda Bay

Bermuda Bay with Wildly Happy & Butterfly Wishes

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and to the 3rd Colour Creations Showcase with members of the Art with Heart Team. Each week we are heroing one of Stampin' Up!s colours and over the coming year we will work through all current colours, that is all the colours in the colour families, ie Subtles, Brights, Regals and Neutrals; plus the In Colours, for 2019-2021 & 2020-2022. I hope you have been enjoying all the projects that have been inspired by this week's colour - 'Bermuda Bay'.

I have created two cards to share with you this week. They both are based on the same layout, but images and colours used with Bermuda Bay are different. There were plans for a couple of other card designs but time has disappeared. So many ideas - so little time.😉  Here are my cards focussing on Bermuda Bay:

Stampin Up, 2020, blog hop, Art With Heart, Andrea Sargent, Butterfly Wishes, Wildly Happy, 2020,

Both cards have a background piece of Bermuda Bay card-stock 9cm wide that spans from top to bottom of the landscape card base. The sentiment for both cards were stamped onto Bermuda Bay card-stock and fussy-cut. I love Bermuda Bay as a colour. It's one of Stampin' Up!s "Brights" family. I often use it with Pool Party and Coastal Cabana as they all have a similar hue, though varying intensity of colour. As their names suggest, they are great for watery images. While one of the designs planned (but not completed) would have used Bermuda Bay as part of a sea theme, initially I wanted to use it in a different way.

My order from the new Stampin' Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue has not arrived as yet, and I don't have the new set of Brights Designer Series Paper so I created my own version of Bermuda Bay DSP by drawing lines (with a ruler) with the Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Marker onto the centre piece of background Bermuda Bay card-stock. I varied widths between lines and didn't aim for exactness. A piece of Basic Black card-stock was cut wider than the width of the Bermuda Bay card-stock but narrower than the depth of the card front. Three labels were punched out of Whisper White card-stock using the Everyday Label punch. The labels were positioned over the Basic Black card-stock and popped up on dimensionals.

I stamped 3 of the very cute mother and baby images from the Wildly Happy stamp set onto Whisper White card-stock using a Momento ink pad. I adore the sketched images and the love they communicate. Each of the images were coloured with Stampin' Blends and then fussy cut. These coloured images were positioned on the labels. The sentiment came from the new Lovely You stamp set and the fussy cut sentiment was positioned with Mini Dimensionals.  A few sequins from the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment were adhered in place.

To align the card inner with the card design, I stamped part of the elephant image on the card inner and adhered a thin strip of hand-striped Bermuda Bay card-stock at the bottom.

I wanted to use a different colour scheme for the second card and decided to keep the layout the same. This time I used one of the butterflies from Butterfly Wishes, a distINKtive stamp set. The butterflies were coloured with sponge daubers using Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy inks plus a touch of Granny Apple Green; with each butterfly having its own colour way. The central strip of Bermuda Bay card-stock was stamped in Whisper White Craft ink with the textured stamp from the Seaside Notions stamp set. The dark centre piece was cut from Night of Navy card-stock and this time was embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder.

Watching the weather, I accidentally missed capturing the front-on close-up of the card, though there is a side angle to give a sense of the lift of the butterfly wings. As you can see, each butterfly was created with 2 images; the top coloured image was lifted on Dimensionals while adhered down at the body. The wings were slightly curved to give a sense of  movement. This sentiment also came from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set. To finish the card a few sequins from the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment were scattered.

The butterfly was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink on the card inner and a couple of fine strips of card-stock were adhered.

You may have noticed that I usually coordinate the envelopes with the card design by stamping one of the key images onto the envelope front.
