AWH Heart of Christmas #22

Christmas with Festive Foliage

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the final Art with Heart Team Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for 2021. Where have the past 5 months gone???

So glad you are joining us for our last 2021 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. I have enjoyed creating a set of 5 cards for this Christmas blog hop. I hope you like them. Here is the first one:

Send Seasons Greetings this Christmas to family and friends with a lovely hand created card.

How are you going with building your Christmas card stash? While the number of my cards is growing, I still need to speed up my creating to have enough for this season. With this in mind, I remembered a Facebook Live of Emma Goddard's, where Emma created one of a set of 4 cards (plus another design with 3 cards). I decided to take up this concept and apply my own twist. While I created 5 cards, I changed some embellishments on some so ended up with 3 versions. Here are the 3.

Send Seasons Greetings this Christmas to family and friends with a lovely hand created card.

I used the Festive Foliage background stamp but wanted it to be the hero. The Festive Foliage stamp was applied to 5 different coloured pieces of card-stock, ie Basic White, Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. Each panel was stamped in Versamark ink then heat embossed with embossing powder and a Heat Gun. The only change to the process was with the Soft Sea Foam panel where I first stamped in Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin' ink and added Versamark ink directly on top and then sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder. The other panels were each embossed with different powders, ie Gold, Silver, Copper and White Embossing Powders.

Each of the embossed designs were coloured in, although different products were used. The White & Gold panel was coloured with Mint Macaron, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen Blends Combos plus the Colour Lifter. The Mint Macaron/Silver and the Evening Evergreen/White panels were both coloured with the Chalk Marker; while the Soft Sea Foam/Clear and Soft Succulent/Copper panels were coloured with Water-colour Pencils, Blender Pen and the Chalk Marker.

Send Seasons Greetings this Christmas to family and friends with a lovely hand created card.

Each panel was cut into 5 equal pieces and then each strip was swapped around to re-form 5 combinations of the Festive Foliage design, each with one of each colour. I did round the corners of each end piece with the Detailed Trio punch as one corner had an unwanted smudge of ink and it would be a strange place to add a label or embellishment. However, I'm not sure whether I like the rounded corners.

Each of the reformed designs were adhered to a piece of Window Sheet and then added with Dimensionals to a background piece of card-stock. As I wanted to try different background colours I decided to mount the card front onto a piece of card-stock in a colour that matched the centre panel. While I could have individually added the embossed/coloured strips to the background with Dimensionals, I decided to use the Window Sheets as I could lay them over a piece of Stampin Up! Grid Paper which would help me align the pieces more easily.

The card front was then layered directly to the card base. A piece of ribbon that had been folded in half was layered across the centre of the card, ie either Soft Succulent or Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon or the White Glittered Organdy RibbonEach card used the same sentiment from the Merriest Moments stamp set, as I preferred a long single line sentiment format. The sentiments were all heat embossed with White Emboss Powder on Evening Evergreen card-stock. Each of the cards had a few of the gorgeous 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels added (either Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen or Polished Pink on one card) to add that touch of shimmer. These jewels are delightful. (My apologies for the two blurry close-ups. I will retake them tomorrow and upload better photos.)

Strips of Basic White card-stock were stamped with the edge of the stamp using inks the same colour as the background panel. The edge was fussy cut and then added to Basic White card inners.

All of the Basic White C6 Envelopes were stamped in Soft Succulent ink on the LHS with the edge of the Festive Foliage stamp.

AWHT Colour Creations #26 Melon Mambo

Melon Mambo with Blessings of Home

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart 2021-2022 Colour Creations Blog Hop.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a strong bright pink called Melon Mambo. Melon Mambo is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a lovely colour for flowers, hearts and part of rainbow colour combos to name a few. It is also a great hot pink that works brilliantly with greys and various greens.

Melon Mambo is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends; Watercolor Pencils and the Brights Designer Series Papers. The card below has used Melon Mambo Card-stock, Stampin' Blends and the Stampin' Write Marker plus a range of other non-MM bits and pieces.

Here is my card showcasing Melon Mambo:

When walking with my dog recently I saw some beautiful little flowers in a local garden. This inspired the colouring of my card, however, the colouring also took on a life of its own.

The card is a simple gate-fold and also features a bundle that will be released by Stampin' Up! in January 2022 as part of its new January - June Mini Catalogue. As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and an attendee of the recent On Stage at Home conference, I was able to purchase this delightful bundle early.

I started by stamping the large floral image from the Blessings of Home stamp set in Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' ink on to Basic White card-stock. It was coloured with Stampin' Blends, ie Melon Mambo, Light Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Soft Succulent Combos plus my trusty Colour Lifter. The colour lifter was used quite a bit to soften Melon Mambo into white and add highlights.

Two of the coloured floral images were cut with the coordinating die from the Flowers of Home dies and extra coloured individual flowers were fussy cut. Little sprig dies and the longer die from the same set were used to cut some rose gold paper from the Gold and Rose Gold Metallic Speciality Paper. The rose gold paper had been coloured with the Dark Melon Mambo Blend before die cutting. Two thin strips were also trimmed off to use in the mounting process.

The Thick Basic White card-stock base was scored and folded to create a Gate-fold right opening card. A Basic White card front had a little blending with some Daffodil Delight Classic ink and a Blender Brush added and then was embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. A Melon Mambo Marker was used to flick some pink ink onto it. A thin strip of the coloured Metallic Speciality Paper was added to the LHS of the embossed card front, which in turn was adhered to the card base. The thinner right flap of the card had a strip of Designer Series Paper with another thin strip of the Metallic Speciality Paper adhered. The DSP used was another early acquisition coordinating with a bundle from the coming January - June Mini Catalogue. This delightful DSP is from a different suite and will only be generally available during December.

A piece of the beautiful White Glittered ribbon was wrapped around the card front and tied in a bow. The flowers were arranged covering the edge of the LHS flap. The fussy cut flowers were layered on top, adhered with Dimensionals. A sentiment from the stamp set was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with White Emboss powder and a Heat Gun, then attached with Dimensionals. The little die cut metallic twigs were spread around and some gorgeous  2021-2023 In Colour Jewels added.

A different design from the limited edition of Eden's Garden Speciality DSP was added inside the two flaps. The designs chosen could be considered "B" sides as they don't have the touches of gold however, they are lovely and great as backgrounds. The longer die cut metallic piece was added to the LHS inner flap.

The centre Basic White panel was stamped with the smaller floral stamp in Smoky Slate ink and also coloured with the same Stampin' Blends. A Basic White C6 Envelope was stamped with the smaller floral spray in Smoky Slate ink.

I had so much fun playing with Melon Mambo, the new Blessings of Home bundle and the Limited Edition Eden's Garden DSP. If you aren't a current Stampin' Up! Demonstrator but are intrigued by the thought of early access to new products not generally available, then I would be delighted to talk with you about the opportunity.

Thank you so much for dropping by.

AWH Heart of Christmas #21

Christmas with Festive Foliage

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 21st Art with Heart 2021 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop

I'm delighted you are joining us for this Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. It is our second to last Christmas blog hop for 2021. I have really enjoyed creating for Christmas - even though I am not as far advanced as hoped.  Here is the card for this pen-ultimate HOC Blog Hop:

Send love to special people in your life with a personally designed and created card for Christmas, by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

I love the Festive Foliage stamp (from the Annual Catalogue). It is a single large stamp, that could be used as a background stamp or be the star of the show. For this card I have tried to make it the focus. The colour scheme was inspired by the one of the designs of the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper, as you can see in the photo below.

Send love to special people in your life with a personally designed and created card for Christmas, by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

I started by stamping the Festive Foliage stamp in Versamark ink on to Basic White card-stock and heat embossing using Gold Metallic Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun.

Send love to special people in your life with a personally designed and created card for Christmas, by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

The embossed image was coloured with Stampin' Up's alcohol markers, Stampin' Blends, that is Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Misty Moonlight, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake Combo markers.

Send love to special people in your life with a personally designed and created card for Christmas, by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

The embossed and coloured panel was cut into strips of random widths varying between 0.5cm and 2cm. All the strips were then adhered to a piece of window sheet in order to maintain the design but with small gaps in between. This card front was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Evening Evergreen card-stock with Dimensionals. A piece of Gold Shimmer Ribbon was wrapped around the card front; which in turn was added to a Thick Basic White card-stock base. Another piece of the ribbon was cut in half length-wise and the two halves were tied in a bow that was added to the card with Glue Dots.

A sentiment from the Heartfelt Wishes stamp set was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed in Gold. The fussy cut sentiment was layered over a strip of 2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum, ie Evening Evergreen vellum and then popped in place with Dimensionals. Some Evening Evergreen 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels were added as the finishing touch.

In detailing the processes above I left out the comedy of errors that occurred. So many things went wrong - it was just one of "those" days, which meant I ran out of time to decorate the card inner and envelope - ah well, a task for tomorrow.

Thank you so much for spending time on my blog. I so appreciate you.

AWHT Colour Creations #25 Mango Melody

Mango Melody with Sending Hugs and Tidings & Trimmings

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart 2021-2022 Colour Creations Blog Hop.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a delightful yellow with a touch of orange called Mango Melody. Mango Melody is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a lovely colour for flowers, certain fruit, the sun and autumn leaves to name a few. It is also a great orange yellow that works brilliantly with bright pinks like Magenta Madness.

Mango Melody is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Soft Pastels Assortment; the Brights & Sweet as a Peach Designer Series Paper; Rainbow Glimmer Paper; Ombre Speciality Paper and the Artistry Blooms Adhesive-backed Sequins. The cards below have used Mango Melody Classic ink, Card-stock, Stampin' Write Marker; Soft Pastel, Artistry Blooms Sequins, Rainbow Glimmer Paper and a little bit of the Sweet as a Peach Designer Series Paper plus a range of other bits and pieces.

Here are my cards showcasing Mango Melody:

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

I wasn't sold that Mango Melody would be great for Christmas cards but as I am still needing to build my Christmas card stash I decided to take up the challenge. Mango Melody is lovely for flowers, so what flowers could I choose? I decided to go with a non-traditional bundle for Christmas. Also, in my musings, I thought that Mango Melody would be good to illustrate light/illumination which led me to think of stars - my second card was born.

CARD 1:

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

As I was browsing my floral bundles I spied the Sending Hugs stamp set and thought of sending "Christmas Hugs". Loving Mango Melody with Mossy Meadow and Gold (metallic) I chose this colour combo, but also added touches of Cherry Cobbler for the berries to bring a touch of tradition to the colour combo.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

The main Sending Hugs stamp, was stamped in Versamark ink on Shimmery White card-stock and heat embossed with Gold Emboss powder and a Heat Gun. The image was water-coloured using the fine Water Painter with Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party Classic Stampin' ink for the background. Once dry, the image was fussy cut. A small section of the Shimmery White card-stock was water coloured in an ombre effect from Cherry Cobbler, Mango Melody and Mossy Meadow inks. The HUGS letters were cut from this section with some Foam Adhesive Sheet attached.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was dry embossed with a Painted Texture 3D embossing folder and then splattered with Mossy Meadows and Mango Melody ink from Stampin' Write Markers. This was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Mango Melody card-stock. Some Gold Shimmer Ribbon was tied around the card front.  A piece of Mossy Meadows card-stock (for the background) was gold heat embossed around the edges after stamping the edges with the leaves from the same stamp.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

The water-coloured panel was adhered to the card front. Some Vellum card-stock was cut with the large die and adhered over the water-coloured panel. The letters spelling HUGS were added and the word "Christmas" from the Words of Cheer stamp set was White heat embossed on a small piece of Mango Melody card-stock. A bow with Gold Shimmer Ribbon was tucked under the edge of the coloured panel with a couple of Glue Dots and some Mango Melody sequins (from the Artistry Blooms sequins) added some shimmer.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

Basic White card-stock was stamped in Mango Melody Classic ink with another greeting from the Words of Cheer stamp set and some leaves from the main Sending Hugs stamp were added to the RHS edge. Similarly a Basic White C6 envelope was stamped with the leafy edge of the large stamp in Mango Melody ink.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

CARD 2:

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was dry embossed with the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder. Some powder scraped from a Mango Melody Soft Pastel (from the Soft Pastel Assortment) was lightly applied with a Blending Brush over the centre of this embossed card-front. This was mounted at an angle to a piece of Mango Melody card-stock; which in turn was mounted to a Basic White Thick card-stock base.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

The detailed
star die from the Christmas Trimmings dies cut a star from Rainbow Glimmer Paper at the Mango Melody end. One edge of the star went into the Magenta Madness section. This decided my colour scheme, ie Mango Melody with Magenta Madness on white. Both Mango Melody and Magenta Madness water-colour washes were added to Shimmery White card-stock. A patterned star was stamped in Mango Melody ink on the Mango wash. Small stars were die cut over the stamped image and from the Magenta Madness wash and a larger star was also cut from the Mango Melody wash.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

The stars needed something to ground them on the card-front, so a strip of coordinating Sweet as a Peach DSP (that was a combination of Mango Melody and Calypso Coral with dots of white) was added across the centre. To give the detailed star some dimension, 5 Basic White die cut stars were layered on top of each other, with the Rainbow Glimmer star on top. This thicker star was adhered to the large star cut from the Mango Melody water-colour wash. The stars were arranged and adhered in place. Some Gold Glimmer Ribbon was deconstructed and some of the threads were wrapped around and adhered to the back of the large star.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

"Noel" from the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set was stamped in Mango Melody ink on Basic White card-stock that had a little Mango Melody Soft Pastel lightly colouring the centre. Some delightful Mango Melody Artistry Blooms Sequins were sprinkled around to add some more glimmer. The final touch was the addition of some sprinkled Wink of Stella

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

A card inner of Basic White card-stock layered at an angle over Mango Melody card-stock was stamped in Mango Melody ink with a star from the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set. The same star and ink was added to a Basic White C6 envelope. As Shelli said again recently - there should never be a naked envelope.

Whether sending Christmas Hugs or Shimmery Stars at Christmas-time, a personally created card brings an extra special touch.

The colour combinations are not traditional Christmas colours. Must admit, many of my cards have not used traditional colour schemes this year. Are you strictly traditional in your colour schemes?

Thank you so much for dropping by.

AWH Heart of Christmas #20

Christmas with Sweet Stockings Fancy Fold

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 20th Art with Heart Team 2021 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. How quickly has time flown by - we only have another 2 HOC blog hops after this one.

So glad you are joining us for this Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. I had so much fun creating a fancy fold card for this Christmas blog hop. I hope it makes you smile:

Christmas wishes coming from furry friends through a specially created fancy fold card by Andrea Sargent, Australia.
The photo shows the card closed but I had burnished the card-stock so well that to wasn't lying flat.

As a dog tragic, I do love the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper. It is such fun. A friend of mine noticed the corgi on this DSP and was drawn to it as her sister had recently adopted a little corgi puppy. I was asked to create a card using the corgi for my friend to give to her sister at Christmastime. This is the card created.

Christmas wishes coming from furry friends through a specially created fancy fold card by Andrea Sargent, Australia.
The card is standing up in display position.

Starting with a normal card base in Thick Basic White card-stock, it was trimmed, scored and burnished along the score-lines. Two different background designs from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper were cut into appropriately sized triangles, with one design for the top triangles and the other for the standing triangles.

Here's a different angle.

There was quite a bit of fussy cutting of critters from the DSP. A mix of cats and dogs were cut including a number of corgis with his red knitted jumper. My friend has 3 cats with one a tabby and another a black cat with touches of white, so I needed to include fussy cut cats to represent her fur family.

Each of the folded panels includes a corgi and a cat, with each panel is designed to tell its own story, ie the black cat eyeing off the little mouse with its present.

The centre of the 3 folded panels needed to make a bigger statement, so it stands with greater height and detail, but there is also story, ie the grumpy cat is checking out the fish in the fish bowl. The corgi is in the middle with a snowflake (from the Wonderful Snowflakes pack) and a bow (Pool Party Striped Grosgrain Ribbon) behind him for texture and focus.

Christmas wishes coming from furry friends through a specially created fancy fold card by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

The front panel has a tabby cat in a box and the corgi popped up on Dimensionals. In fact each of the corgis are attached with Dimensionals.

There was enough happening on the card front that it didn't need the addition of a sentiment. The little bird carrying a letter on the front stopper was enough as the whole card communicates "Happy Christmas". Some Decorative Matte Dots were added to each panel as that little extra touch. They are part of the suite of products that coordinate with the DSP.

The card inner in this fancy fold card is apart of the card design. It has been covered with the same DSP design as used for the standing triangular sections, with a strip of the othert DSP design added on the LHS. Three 1" circles of the background DSP were popped up with Dimensionals on the RHS to form stoppers to hold the folded front panels. Small fussy cut critters were added to each of the stoppers with Mini Dimensionals. Their sizes were perfect. One of the sentiments from the coordinating Sweet Little Stockings stamp set was stamped in Basic Gray Classic Stampin' ink on Pool Party card-stock.

Card inner with stoppers.

As the inner panel partly shows with the card on display, the back panel was decorated with a piece of Basic White card-stock that had been stamped in Cherry Cobbler Classic ink with another sentiment from the same stamp set and another little corgi was fussy cut and added to one side. I don't like wasting any of the images on the DSP and so will use half animals from the DSP edges, like this little corgi and the cat on the envelope.

As referenced above, half a fussy cut cat was added to a Basic White C6 envelope. It is only a touch of coordination with the card design - but that's enough.
