AWHT Colour Creations #10 Blushing Bride

Blushing Bride with Cup of Tea, Jar of Flowers and Happiness Abounds

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a light pink called Blushing Bride. Blushing Bride is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a soft pretty colour. This colour is gorgeous when used with other subtle colours including Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, etc. It is also lovely withVery Vanilla & Gold and works really well with Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake or Smoky Slate.

Blushing Bride is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Subtles Designer Series Paper, Awash in Beauty, Gingham Cottage  & Happy Forest Friends DSPs and the Brushstroke Speciality Paper as well as A Million Thanks Kits and Celebrate Today Magnet Board Kits. The card below has used Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' ink and Card-stock plus a range of other non-BB bits and pieces.

Wish a special friend Happy Birthday or tell them how wonderful they are with a personally created card.

I started off with a plan to create 1 card but during the creation process decided to re-watercolour the tea cup pieces to a different colour and didn't want to waste the Blushing Bride tea cup set so created a second card as well.

The Cup of Tea bundle is delightful. I wasn't sure about it initially but am sold on it now. There are so many ways it can be used. I started with a soft blended background using Pool Party Classic ink and a Blending Brush on Basic White card-stock. Looking at the photos, I wonder if the background could have been a tad darker - what do you think? This background was adhered to a Blushing Bride card-stock base.

As July is Watercolour month I decided to use a couple of water-colour techniques. Some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was die cut with the full tea cup die and the detailed tea cup die using the Tea Cup dies. A wet on wet water-colour technique was used to colour both pieces with the mid-sized Water Painter and Sahara Sand Classic ink. I so love watercoloring die cut pieces. Two arrangements of flowers from the Jar of Flowers stamp set were heat embossed using Versamark, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun on Shimmery White card-stock. The floral arrangement was coloured with Blushing Bride, Soft Sea Foam and Sahara Sand Classic inks. The arrangement and individual flowers were fussy cut.

The pieces were arranged and adhered with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Dimensionals and Glue Dots - my favourite adhesives. The little Basic White card-stock tag die cut was coloured with Blushing Bride ink and a Blending Brush and a little die cut Blushing Bride heart was added on top - both die cut using the Tea Cup dies. The sentiment came from the Happiness Abounds stamp set and is white heat embossed on Blushing Bride card-stock. A White Bakers Twine bow and some delicious Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels added a special finishing touch.

A tea cup from the Cup of Tea stamp set was stamped in Blushing Bride ink onto the Basic White card inner. A couple of left over die cut hearts were added. A Basic White C6 Envelope was also stamped with the same tea cup stamp in Blushing Bride ink.

Card 2:

This second card uses the same colour scheme, same stamp sets and dies as the first card, so I won't repeat the full details described above.  I want to acknowledge inspiration from Susan Wong, a New Zealand Demonstrator, Artisan and member of the Crafty Carrot Collective #TheCraftyCarrotCo. I saw Susan create a Christmas card using the Cup of Tea bundle and loved her creation so was inspired to CASE a number of aspects of her card.

The Pool Party background was sprinkled with some water to add interest. I so love the way Stampin' Up!s Classic inks interact with water and show where droplets have landed. A couple of thin strips from the Awash in Beauty DSP added some interest in Blushing Bride behind the background piece at both top and bottom. This background was adhered directly to a Sahara Sand card-stock base.

The Blushing Bride water-coloured tea cup was added with Dimensionals. Some little buds from the same floral arrangement used in card 1 were water-coloured with Blushing Bride ink and the leaves with Soft Sea Foam. I am thinking of giving this card to a friend who is a Tea Sommelier with an online Speciality Tea business and as a few of her teas include petals I thought flowers needed to be included in some way. The flowers and leaves were fussy cut - a bit fiddly as they were so tiny. The tea bag tag was die cut from Basic White card-stock and coloured with a little Sahara Sand blending. A tiny Blushing Bride die cut heart was added to the tag.

A sentiment from the Happiness Abounds stamp set was white heat embossed onto Blushing Bride card-stock and a piece of Sahara Sand Natural Finish ribbon was added underneath. A few die cut hearts were positioned to represent steam coming from the tea. Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels were sprinkled around to give some shimmer.

Wish a special friend Happy Birthday with a personally created card.

Thank you so much for dropping by. I do value the time you spent with me.

I love your soft, subtle cards Andrea. Your Watercolouring is perfect and the colours you chose go together beautifully. I don’t think the background on your first card needs to be darker and your friend will love your second card
