Heart of Christmas Blog Hop: Decorated with Happiness

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the first Art with Heart Team Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for 2022.

I am so glad you are joining us for our 2022 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. I had fun creating a card using the Decorated with Happiness bundle. Here it is:

Last week I noticed that the CASEing the Catty theme was to CASE a card that had a Christmas Tree. I was thinking of participating and decided to CASE the card shown below on page 27. My card was to use die cut pine branches and baubles rather than stamped and has a die cut background instead of adding rectangular panels. I ran out of time to create and upload my card by the deadline so decided to use the card for this week's Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. Stampin' Up!s catalogues are wonderful sources of inspirations.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was colour blended with Balmy Blue and Mint Macaron Classic inks using a lovely Stampin' Up! Blending Brush. The coloured panel was dry embossed using the pine folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders packet. Then this panel was sprinkled with water splatters and splattered with White Craft Pigment ink.

The card front was die cut using the Picture This dies and splattered with both Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent Stampin' Write Markers. Three pine branches were cut from Soft Succulent card-stock using the Decorated Pines dies. Touches of Evening Evergreen ink and White Craft ink were daubered onto the branches to give the effect of light and dark. Each of the die cut baubles were die cut from Gold Foil. I had also tried die cutting the Festive Foils Speciality paper but they didn't seem right in this instance. However, they really are delightful.

The pine branches were arranged either over or under and through the die cut holes and the gold baubles were added. A sentiment from the stamp set was heat embossed on Evening Evergreen card-stock using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. It was fussy cut and the words separated. A bow was tied using Gold and Vanilla Satin-edged Ribbon (that had been split in half) and Gold Simply Elegant Trim. Some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels were scattered over the card front to add a little extra shimmer.

A Basic White card inner was stamped with pine branches using 2nd generation Soft Succulent ink. Two of the Gold Festive Foil die cut baubles were added as well. A Basic White C6 Envelope was also 2nd generation stamped with a couple of pine branches.

  1. Wow, this is a fabulous version of the catalogue card. Such an effective use of the rectangle background die, and I love the layering over the top.
