AWHT Colour Creations #19 Evening Evergreen

Evening Evergreen with Lights Aglow WV Fun Fold (with a Twist)

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep forrest green called Evening Evergreen. Evening Evergreen is part of the 2021-2023 In Colour Family and is a deep rich colour. This colour is brilliant when used for Christmas, lovely for forests, trees, leaves and so much more. It goes delightfully with Soft Succulent, Mint Macaron, Cherry Cobbler, etc. It is also great with Gold.

Evening Evergreen is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends; In Colours Designer Series Paper as well as Lights Aglow, Texture Chic Speciality Designer Series Paper, Painted Christmas, Boughs of Holly, Pretty Prints, Santa Express and Lovely Linen DSPs; Open Weave Ribbon, Window Pane Check Ribbon; and Glimmer Speciality Paper and Metallic & Shimmer Speciality Paper; Texture Chic and Santa Express Memories & More Card Packs: and Cozy & Bright Kit.

In deciding to use the oh so gorgeous Lights Aglow Speciality DSP the card morphed from a WV Fun Fold card and evolved throughout the creation process. Here is the final card:

I started with the idea of creating a WV fun fold card but needed to change dimensions so the Christmas Lights Tree could fit on the front of the V Panel. Then I went away from the traditional fold as I so loved the Gold Tree design on the SDSP and didn't want to cover most of it with the V panel.

Evening Evergreen card-stock was cut and scored for the base of the card. The gorgeous gold tree design of the SDSP was cut and adhered to the front 3 panels of the "W" fold and the starry Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent design was adhered to the front of the back panel. As the sentiment label was going to be added to the front panel together with the beautiful Gold and Vanilla Satan Edged Ribbon 3 labels were die cut using the Labels Aglow dies. Two labels were cut from Very Vanilla card-stock and the back label was Evening Evergreen card-stock. A gold embossed sentiment from the Brightest Glow stamp set was applied to the top VV label. The Evening Evergreen label was adhered to the front panel. The ribbon was attached across the label and then the other 2 labels were adhered on top to give the label strength to stand for itself.

The front view of the "V" panel was created with Very Vanilla cardstock and adhered to the top of the "V" panel. Some splatters were added with an Evening Evergreen Marker. A Very Vanilla die cut tree was coloured with a Blending Brush, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen Classic ink before being gold embossed with the Christmas tree stamp, Versamark ink, Gold Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. Some gold thread was added behind the tree and the tree was attached with Dimensionals. Part of this front V panel was adhered to the mid section of the "W" fold.

A Very Vanilla panel was splattered with an Evening Evergreen Marker and stamped with the little tree from the Christmas Lights stamp set before being added to the back of the "V" panel. This is for writing a personal message. Another Very Vanilla label was gold embossed with another sentiment. [NB I started to adhere the back panel of the "V" section to the back of the "W" but realised that it wasn't a good idea, so needed to do the next steps described below.]

A Very Vanilla piece of card-stock also was stamped with the little tree before being added to the back inner of the "V" panel. Apart from being useful to continue the personal message this panel also hid glue and some taring. The starry Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent design needed to be added to the last part of the "W" section to hide remnants of glue/taring from removal of the "V" panel. I could say the thin Gold Glimmer strip was added to tie in with the gold star on the tree - and it was, however, it was first added to hide the join in the SDSP as it was first cut 5mm too short. You know what is said, "A mistake is an opportunity for creativity."

A Very Vanilla C6 Envelope was stamped with the Christmas tree stamp in Evening Evergreen ink. I really love the effect of this stamp. It is beautiful. The photo below is taken from above  the open standing card.

The photo below is a front view of the standing opened card. This is how it may be displayed on a shelf with other received Christmas cards.

  1. Andrea, I love your "a mistake is an opportunity for creativity" attitude to card making! This is a seriously amazing fancy fold regardless of how it evolved and that gorgeous SDSP really showcases Evening Evergreen.
