AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #21 Daffodil Delight

Daffodil Delight with Radiant Light

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.
This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright and happy colour called Daffodil Delight. Daffodil Delight is one of the Brights Colour Family and is a bright clean yellow. The colour would be lovely when used for flowers, including daffodils (as the name suggests), sun/sun rays or light and chickens, plus so much more.

Daffodil Delight is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, ink spot re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Watercolour Pencils, Soft Pastels; Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Les Shoppes, Beary Christmas, Hello Irresistible DSP; plus Light the Candles kit, Forever Friends kit, Kindness Cards kit, Sentimental Rose Kit and Saying Thanks kit; together with Loose Frosted Dots. and the Glossy Dots Assortment. It is another solid list of products.

Candles are so beautiful at Christmas-time, so why not create a card with Stampin’ Up!s delightful Radiant Light stamps and Magical Meadows dies featuring Daffodil Delight ink.

Daffodil Delight card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends combo have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Daffodil Delight bits and pieces.

As intermated above, Daffodil Delight is a perfect colour for light or for a candle flame so I thought I would christen the Radiant Light stamp set. These stamps stand alone so fussy cutting was required for the project. I started by embossing the Basic White background panel with the Fern 3D embossing folder. A little Daffodil Delight from a Stampin’ Write Marker was splattered over the panel before it being adhered to a Daffodil Delight card base.

A half a sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper was wet on wet water-coloured using Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ ink and a little Lost Lagoon ink. Once dry, it was cut down with the second largest Radiating Stitches die. Some torn Daffodil Delight card-stock was adhered to either side to add a little something extra. Some foliage was cut using the Magical Meadows dies and then coloured with either Lost Lagoon or Shaded Spruce inks.

The arrangement of candles from the Radiant Light stamp set was stamped in Smoky Slate ink onto Basic White card-stock. Some extra leaves and berries were also stamped out. The images were coloured with Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Lost Lagoon & Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends and the Colour Lifter were all used to colour the images. The coloured images were fussy cut, together with an extra candle from another arrangement as I wanted an odd number of candles. The candle images and die cut foliage were lifted on the card with Dimensionals.

A sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink and trimmed down, Each end was torn and a torn edge of Daffodil Delight card-stock was tucked underneath. The stamped and coloured berries as well as the die cut berries all had a little Red Enamel Effects added. Looking at it afterwards, I think I should have reduced the number of berries with the Enamel Effects. What fo you think?? Some Gold Butterfly embellishments were added around the candle flames and some deconstructed Gold Simply Elegant Trim was added around the candles and arrangement.

A Basic White card inner was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink with a different Christmas sentiment. (I think my ink pad has dried and needs re-inking.) The remaining coloured candle arrangement was fussy cut and added with little left over pieces of coloured die cut foliage. A Basic White C6 Envelope was simply stamped in Smoky Slate ink with the candle stamp.

Second Card

A number of things have conspired against me and taken time from my crafting for tonight’s Blog Hop. I have made a start on a second card. This is as far as I have come. I am disappointed it wasn’t finished in time - my sincere apologies to you. By the way, the yellow panel in the centre is another Daffodil Delight water-coloured background.

I wonder how the card will be finished? [Edited] Here is the finished card. More details can be found at the AWH Heart of Christmas #9 blog.

  1. I can see the candles actually glowing with this gorgeous card, Andrea. I think you could have reduced the number of berries but it still looks fabulous with this many berries too - it would work either way. I can't wait to see your second card too!

  4. Daffodil Delight is the perfect choice for the candle flames, Andrea. The candles look great popped up on dimensionals, and I really love the Daffodil Delight watercoloured background. Beautiful work, with the arrangement of foliage, on the front and inside of your card.

  7. Your watercolouring is so effective and a lovely glow behind the candles, it almost makes me feel warm again (freezing here in Melb). I really admire all that softly watercoloured foliage you have placed behind your sentiment, it is really beautiful.
