AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #42 Pretty Peacock

Pretty Peacock with Lifetime of Love & Forever Love

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep blue-green called Pretty Peacock. Pretty Peacock is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a gorgeous deep green that leans toward blue on the colour wheel. This colour is beautiful for leaves and so much more, working brilliantly with Lost Lagoon - a lighter green.

Pretty Peacock is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Regals Designer Series Paper and Earthen Elegance, Hello Irresistible, Glorious Gingham, Delightful Floral, Perennial Lavender, Winter Meadow, Bright & Beautiful, Fresh as a Daisy, Delightfully Eclectic, Masterfully Made, Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper, plus Forever Love, Speciality DSP, Three Color Glimmer Speciality Paper, Oxidized Speciality DSP , Soft Shimmer Speciality Paper as well as Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems, Adhesive-backed Sequins Trio, Blooming Pearls, Loose Frosted Dots, Tinsel Gems Four-pack, Sweet Thoughts Memories & More Card Pack and Cards & Envelopes, Bright & Beautiful Memories & More Card Pack and Cards & Envelopes, Christmas Everywhere Kit, Painted Wishes Kit, The Best Destination kit. That is a huge list and demonstrates the versatility of this wonderful colour.

Pretty Peacock card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Blends, Forever Love designer series paper, Pretty Peacock & Gold ribbon and Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems have been used in the creation of these projects plus a range of non-Pretty Peacock bits and pieces.

I recently saw Mikaela Titheridge, UK SU Demonstrator, Artisan and wonderful person create a beautiful card using the Nature’s Sweetness Suite as one of the Crafty Carrot Co sessions for February. #thecraftycarrotco  It was gorgeous and inspired me to re-create the fold using Pretty Peacock and part of the Forever Love Suite. This suite can be found in the January-April Mini Catalogue.  A Pretty Peacock card base was scored and folded then decorated with 3 different designs from the Forever Love Speciality Designer Series Paper. It is gorgeous DSP with one side of each of the 12x12 sheets including touches of gold.

Roses from the Lifetime of Love stamp set were gold heat embossed onto Very Vanilla card-stock using Versamark ink, gold Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool as well as the Embossing Tool kit. The roses and leaves were coloured with Stampin’ Blends, including Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon, Petal Pink and a touch of Moody Mauve combos with my trusty Colour Lifter to add highlights. See a close up of the flowers below.

The largest roundish die from the Thoughtful Expressions dies was used to cut out 2 Pretty Peacock labels. One label was adhered to the top layer of the folded card front.  The leafy single wreath die from the Lifetime of Love dies was cut from Gold Foil together with some leafy sprigs. As you can see once the flowers were die cut and an extra large centre rose was fussy cut. The single fussy cut rose was layered over the 3 roses with a Dimensional. The foil single wreath was adhered to one of the labels and the flowers were arranged over it. The “Love You” sentiment was fussy cut and a strip of Gold Foil layered underneath.

A section of the Pretty Peacock Metallic Ribbon was tied around the card and adhered to the bottom label. The decorated label was adhered directly over the bottom label holding the ribbon in place. A few beautiful Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems give a touch of shimmer around the sentiment.

To open the fun fold, untie the ribbon bow and open the top panel to the left.

Just pull the middle pink layer to the right to fully open the card.

The inner panels are Very Vanilla card-stock stamped with roses stamped in Pretty Peacock Classic Stampin’ ink. A Very Vanilla C6 Envelope was similarly stamped.

Card 2:

This card was actually started first, but it was one where so many aspects went wrong - one way or the other. I abandoned it part way through when glue from the label stuck to a bit of the DSP on a lower panel and tore when I tried to rectify things - it was the last straw. However, once I had created the card above, I thought I should take a breath and finish the card rather than waste it.

As you can see the card is similar with a few differences. Different DSP designs were used from the same packet of Speciality DSP. As the middle panel highlights Moody Mauve different flowers from the same stamp set were gold heat embossed and Moody Mauve Blends were used to colour the flowers with touches of Petal Pink. Tiny flowers and leafy twigs were die cut from Gold Foil.

A sentiment from the Sweetly Scripted stamp set - this is a sneak peak of a stamp set that will be launched as an on-line exclusive next month. Apart from some Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems some delightful Adhesive-backed Dragonflies were added.

As you can see above, some single coloured roses were added on the mid and lower DSP layers to hide some taring and glue marks. I think this is an example where trying to hide an error became a creative opportunity.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #41 Poppy Parade

Poppy Parade with Around the Bend

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright orange red called Poppy Parade. Poppy Parade is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a bright red that can coordinate strikingly with black & white’ or more softly with Petal Pink or Calypso Coral. This colour is lovely for flowers - consider its name sake - poppies.

Poppy Parade is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Soft Pastels; Brights Designer Series Paper as well as the Trusty Toolbox, Just Kiddin’ & Sunny Days DSPs; the Saying Thanks Kit, Panda Friends Kit & Confetti Birthday Kit; plus Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs.

Poppy Parade ink, card stock, Stampin’ Write Marker and 2 designs from the Sunny Days DSP plus some Iridescent Adhesive Backed Discs have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Poppy Parade bits and pieces.

I created a fancy fold card that folds in from each side and has an added folded central DSP panel to combine with the Around the Bend bundle from the Annual Catalogue. The sentiments came from an Online Exclusive stamp set called Comforting Thoughts. This set will be wonderful for folk who are not well or needing comfort and support. As you can see in the following photos, 3 sentiments have been used and will be seen as the card is opened.

I played with the new breyer to unevenly colour the left side front panel using Basic White card-stock with Petal Pink and Poppy Parade inks and then misted the coloured area to soften the uneven-ness. Other pieces of Basic White card-stock were coloured with individual colours, ie Poppy Parade, Petal Pink or Old Olive inks. Once they had dried from the misting flowers were die cut from both Petal Pink and Poppy Parade. A series of leaves were cut from the Old Olive coloured panel. The flowers and leaves were all adhered with touches of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Both Poppy Parade and white Iridescent Adhesive Backed Discs were added to the centre of the little flowers. Their beautiful shimmer hasn’t been picked up by the camera.

You may notice that I have less photos and process description this week. Both scheduled and out of the blue commitments and urgent family requirements seemed to explode to take up so much time and energy leaving very little creativity and preparation time.

As you can see the central panel was created in such a way to show both sides of the delightful Saleabration DSP. The Petal Pink grid sits well beneath the curved die cut leaves and then when the central panel is lifted to reveal the beautiful Poppy Parade floral design.

A panel for writing a personal message was adhered inside the lower section of the central panel. It is simply a Basic White panel stamped with another Comforting Thoughts sentiment in Poppy Parade ink.  A Basic White C6 envelope was stamped in Poppy Parade ink a couple of times with the corner leafy design from the Around the Bend stamps.

Thank you so much for dropping by on you way around the 41st Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2023-2024.  I am sure there will still be so much Poppy Parade inspiration. Don’t miss it.

I wonder if she also will have a fun fold card??? I do love seeing everyone’s' projects - there is always so much inspiration.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #40 Pool Party

Pool Party with Beach Day & Stippled Roses

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a pale teal blue called Pool Party. Pool Party is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a wonderful teal blue that can coordinate with so so many colours. This colour is lovely for water, skies and so much more. It is a wonderful as a background, whether fully coloured, a patch of blended colour or just an line around the edges of images.

Pool Party is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as a number of other Designer Series Papers. There are a number of Saleabration products that are free with the purchase of sufficient SU products.  The Stippled Roses DSP, Crinkled Ribbon and Opaque Faceted Gems are all Saleabration items which include Pool Party.

Pool Party ink, card-stock, Stampin’ Write Marker, Stippled Roses DSP, Crinkle Ribbon, Opaque Faceted Gems  have been used in the creation of the project above with a range of non-Pool Party bits and pieces.  The second card below has used Pool Party card-stock & Blends Combo plus other non-Pool Party bits and pieces.

I created a card with the fun Beach Day bundle from the January-April 2024 Mini Catalogue. The bundle seemed just right for the South Pacific market and perfect now during summer. The background was water-coloured using Pool Party, Azure Afternoon, Crumb Cake and touches of Pecan Pie Classic Stampin’ inks on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.

When dry, the water-coloured panel was trimmed down with a Deckled Rectangle die and mounted onto a slightly larger Pool Party panel. The palm trees and grass were also cut from Fluid 100 paper and water-coloured with Old Olive, Shaded Spruce, Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie inks. The beach chair was stamped in Pecan Pie ink on Basic White card-stock and then again on some of the Stippled Roses DSP. The fabric part of the chair was fussy cut and pieced onto the chair. A surf board was stamped on a different design of the Stippled Roses DSP.

Both the chair and surf board were partially coloured with the Pool Party Blends combo to give shading and a sense of dimension. Some grasses were also stamped at the base of the water-coloured panel. A Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker was used to draw in some seagulls in the sky and a Pool Party Marker to add some splattering.

A panel of Basic White card-stock was embossed with the Twisted Rope 3D embossing folder before being adhered to a Pool Party card base. A piece of Pool Party Crinkled Ribbon was cut in half lengthwise and laid across the white embossed background panel and adhered to the back prior to the embossed panel being adhered to the base. The focal panel was popped up on Dimensionals.

A sentiment from the same sets of stamps was white heat embossed onto Pool Party card-stock and fussy cut.  The final touches were a Linen Twine bow and some of the Saleabration Opaque Faceted Gems. Some extra Pool Party splatters were added to the background.

A panel for writing a personal message was adhered inside the card. It was simply Basic White card-stock decorated with an extra surf board and water-coloured grass.  A C6 Basic White envelope was stamped with some surf boards and sea gulls in Pool Party ink with a little blending on a couple of edges.

I thought the sky needed something so some thin white clouds were lightly added with White craft ink and the fine Water Painter. I had so much fun creating this scene.

CARD 2

I am so thankful for Emma Goddard, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator at Coastal Crafter in the UK for inspiration for this card. It’s Emma’s layout but colours, stamps, sentiment and twine are different. I so love the layout and thought it would be brilliant with a Pool Party background.

The roses from the Stippled Roses stamp set were stamped in Smoky Slate ink onto the 4 Perennial Postage die cut labels. Pool Party Blends Combo were used to colour around the edges of the stamped images and across the whole background on the labels. The depth of colour is purposely darker near the images and lighter further away. The background Basic White panel was dry embossed with Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder before being adhered to a Pool Party card base. The sentiment from the same stamp set was white heat embossed onto Pool Party card-stock and fussy cut. A Basic White double Bakers Twine bow was tucked under the sentiment. Some gorgeous Iridescent Basic Pearls were added as the final touch.

Thank you so much for dropping by on your way around this Colour Creations Blog Hop. Continue on your way around the Blog Hop as I am sure there will still be so much Pool Party inspiration. Don’t miss it.

Colour Inkspiration Challenge #159

I am so excited to have joined the Colour Inkspiration Crew. Colour Inkspiration Challenge #159 is a gorgeous colour combination and here is my project featuring this combo:

To showcase these colours I stamped the Stippled Roses images in 2nd generation Smoky Slate ink and then coloured them with Berry Burst and Pretty Peacock Alcohol Blends Combos, with the Colour Lifter to reinforce the highlights on the petals and leaves.

The Stippled Roses die cut the coloured images and 2 different dies were used to cut leaves from Basic White card-stock. A gorgeous label was cut from Thick Basic White card-stock using the Thoughtful Moments dies.

The Thick Basic White card-base was cut to create a fun fold card where the top front panel fold down from above and the white embossed lower panel folds in from the right side with the pieces meeting diagonally from top right down to bottom left.  The Smoky Slate panel was coloured with Smoky Slate Classic Stampin ink and the new Stampin’ Brayer onto Basic White cardstock. The brayer added the ink at different angles and strengths. Some water was misted over to enable the shading to blend and soften. The Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder was used on a Basic White panel that was adhered to the bottom diagonal section.

Some Pretty Peacock splatters were added with a Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Write Marker. The central floral arrangement was adhered to the gorgeous label that had been partially adhered to the top Smoky Slate Panel. The white die cut leaves were tucked under the coloured flowers and leaves. A little bit of blending added some Smoky Slate to a couple of leaves. Some leaves needed a little pruning to remove a few tiny leaves.

A sentiment from the Stippled Roses stamps was stamped in Smoky Slate and fussy cut. A double White Bakers Twine bow was tucked under the sentiment and a few Iridescent Pearls were sprinkled around the sentiment. Finally a little Wink of Stella was splattered over the card.

The card inner was created with a Basic White panel stamped with part of the Stippled Roses in Smoky Slate. It was mounted on a slightly larger Smoky Slate panel. A Basic White C6 Envelope was also stamped with part of the Stippled Roses stamp in Smoky Slate ink. (not pictured)

Thank you so much for dropping in.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #39 Petal Pink

Petal Pink with Hello, Irresistible

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a peachy pink called Petal Pink. Petal Pink is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a gorgeous soft pink that can be used in so many ways. This colour is lovely for flowers, babies and complimenting soft, bright and more regal colour schemes. I believe it is a versatile colour, but having said that, I know there are numerous folk who aren’t keen on it given its orange overtones.

Petal Pink is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Lighter Thank Air, Sunny Days, Meandering Meadows, Bee Mine, Les Shoppes, Zoo Crew DSPs; Forever Love, Dry Brushed Metallic Speciality DSP, Three Colour Glimmer Paper; Petal Pink and Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems, Blooming Pearls, Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins, Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots, Adhesive-backed Hearts & Flowers;  The Best Destination Kits, Painted Wishes Kits, Love Treat Kits, Colorful Kalidoscope Kits,  Blossom Wishes Kits; Abigail Rose Folders and Stampin’ Up! Poster plus number of extra products and Clearance products. Wow, that is quite a list that indicates its popularity and ability to coordinate.

Create a simple Hello Irresistible DSP fronted Slimline card to send birthday greetings to a friend.

Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ ink, card-stock, Stampin’ Write Marker, Petal Pink Foiled Gems and the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper has been used in the creation of this project plus some non-Petal Pink bits and pieces.

Create a simple Hello Irresistible DSP fronted Slimline card to send birthday greetings to a friend.

I created a Mini Slimline card that could be cut from a standard half A4 sheet of card-stock and also fit in a standard C6 envelope. To calculate the dimensions, I started with 14.9cm then moved a ruler around to decide on the appropriate width. I ended with a width of 8.2cm.  Having decided on the card dimensions, one of the designs from the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper that included Petal Pink was selected. This lovely DSP is gorgeous to show both sides of the paper so this aspect was incorporated in the design.

Create a simple Hello Irresistible DSP fronted Slimline card to send birthday greetings to a friend.

To show both sides of the DSP a 1cm edge was folded back and a strip of Petal Pink card-stock was tucked underneath the front fold. The other edge of the DSP was scored 1.5cm in to form a seam to adhere on the card back. I added a second, but slightly smaller panel of Basic White card-stock was adhered to the back to hide the DSP seam. You could get away without this if you didn’t worry about the seam being seen. The photo below shows the inside of the card and the beautiful DSP.

Create a simple Hello Irresistible DSP fronted Slimline card to send birthday greetings to a friend.

The Basic White inner panel was stamped with some leaves from the Notes of Nature stamp set in Petal Pink ink. A thin strip of DSP (that had been trimmed off from the front panel) was adhered to the LHS partially over the stamped leaves. As I was writing this blog and looking at this photo, I decided to add a remaining Basic White long string of leaves to give the inner DSP a little extra interest.

Create a simple Hello Irresistible DSP fronted Slimline card to send birthday greetings to a friend.

Leaves were cut with Notes of Nature dies from Basic White card-stock. I had initially thought I would use the long leafy twig along the folded back section as the leaf shape was similar to white images on the DSP, but as I was playing with options, I decided to use the smaller leaf twigs around the Petal Pink stamped sentiment using a Notes of Nature stamp on Basic White card-stock.

Some of the new Petal Pink Foiled Gems (from the Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems in the newish Mini Catalogue) were scattered around. I tried to add a bow but decided against it. The die cut small white leaves were sufficient in themselves. The final touch was a light Petal Pink splattering using the Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Marker and some Wink of Stella. I love the understated shimmer this achieves.

Basic White C6 envelope was stamped with some Petal Pink leaves similar to those stamped on the card inner.  It is only simple stamping, but you “can’t have a naked envelope”.
