Petal Pink with Hello, Irresistible
Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.
This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a peachy pink called Petal Pink. Petal Pink is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a gorgeous soft pink that can be used in so many ways. This colour is lovely for flowers, babies and complimenting soft, bright and more regal colour schemes. I believe it is a versatile colour, but having said that, I know there are numerous folk who aren’t keen on it given its orange overtones.
Petal Pink is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Lighter Thank Air, Sunny Days, Meandering Meadows, Bee Mine, Les Shoppes, Zoo Crew DSPs; Forever Love, Dry Brushed Metallic Speciality DSP, Three Colour Glimmer Paper; Petal Pink and Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems, Blooming Pearls, Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins, Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots, Adhesive-backed Hearts & Flowers; The Best Destination Kits, Painted Wishes Kits, Love Treat Kits, Colorful Kalidoscope Kits, Blossom Wishes Kits; Abigail Rose Folders and Stampin’ Up! Poster plus number of extra products and Clearance products. Wow, that is quite a list that indicates its popularity and ability to coordinate.
Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ ink, card-stock, Stampin’ Write Marker, Petal Pink Foiled Gems and the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper has been used in the creation of this project plus some non-Petal Pink bits and pieces.
I created a Mini Slimline card that could be cut from a standard half A4 sheet of card-stock and also fit in a standard C6 envelope. To calculate the dimensions, I started with 14.9cm then moved a ruler around to decide on the appropriate width. I ended with a width of 8.2cm. Having decided on the card dimensions, one of the designs from the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper that included Petal Pink was selected. This lovely DSP is gorgeous to show both sides of the paper so this aspect was incorporated in the design.
To show both sides of the DSP a 1cm edge was folded back and a strip of Petal Pink card-stock was tucked underneath the front fold. The other edge of the DSP was scored 1.5cm in to form a seam to adhere on the card back. I added a second, but slightly smaller panel of Basic White card-stock was adhered to the back to hide the DSP seam. You could get away without this if you didn’t worry about the seam being seen. The photo below shows the inside of the card and the beautiful DSP.
Leaves were cut with Notes of Nature dies from Basic White card-stock. I had initially thought I would use the long leafy twig along the folded back section as the leaf shape was similar to white images on the DSP, but as I was playing with options, I decided to use the smaller leaf twigs around the Petal Pink stamped sentiment using a Notes of Nature stamp on Basic White card-stock.
Some of the new Petal Pink Foiled Gems (from the Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems in the newish Mini Catalogue) were scattered around. I tried to add a bow but decided against it. The die cut small white leaves were sufficient in themselves. The final touch was a light Petal Pink splattering using the Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Marker and some Wink of Stella. I love the understated shimmer this achieves.
A Basic White C6 envelope was stamped with some Petal Pink leaves similar to those stamped on the card inner. It is only simple stamping, but you “can’t have a naked envelope”.
Thank you so much for dropping by on your way around the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Do check out the other blogs - I am sure there will be so much Petal Pink inspiration. Don’t miss it.

Another stunning card, Andrea! Great idea to pair the Notes of Nature dies with this DSP - they look like they were made to go together.
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful subtle card Andrea. All of the colours in this card look so lovely together and the way you have used the reverse side of the dsp is very clever.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Andrea! Your layering is perfection.
ReplyDeleteYou've showcased this lovely DSP beautifully, Andrea. I really like the white leafy die-cuts around the sentiment, and the foiled gems are a beautiful addition to your card.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Andrea and a great way to feature both sides of the lovely paper
