Funky Folds Blog Hop #4

ANYTHING GOES WITH A FUNKY FOLD

Welcome to the fourth Funky Folds Blog Hop.

We are a group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless. All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold or 3D project.

I created this card for a friend’s coming birthday. I like to make fun folds for fellas as “they say” that it is always good to have a card that moves or is structural in some form for guys. This fella used to make model planes when he was young so I hope he likes the card.

The base was created from Boho Blue card-stock and layered with designs from the Take To The Sky Designer Series Paper. Panels of Window Sheet were cut to size and the top edges curved with “cloud dies” from the Bright Skies dies. It is hard to see the edges in the photos as the Window Sheet panels tend to disappear (which was the effect I was aiming to achieve).

Using the Adventurous Sky stamp set, the planes and clouds were stamped in either Boho Blue Classic ink or Momento ink on Basic White card-stock. The planes were coloured with StampinBlends and the clouds were either first, second or third stamping.

The stamped images were die cut with coordinating dies. I do love Stampin’ Up!s coordination.

Here is a close up.

A sentiment from the Adventurous Sky stamp set was white heat embossed on Boho Blue card-stock and cut out with a banner from the coordinating dies. Some silver sewing thread was added behind the sentiment and a few Industrial Trinkets were scattered near the sentiment.

Here is a top down view. A panel was added to the back of the card to provide a place to write a personal message. A custom created envelope is still to be made. I had hoped to make the card to fit into a pre-made envelope, however, when calculating the dimensions I missed allowing extra for the pillar to squish flat. Yes, the card does squish flat so it will fit into the right sized envelope. I will add a photo later once the envelope is made.

Thank you for dropping by. I hope you like my Three Layer Pillar card featuring the Take to the Sky Suite with the Adventurous Sky bundle. I would be interested to know if anyone would like written ‘How To Instructions’ to re-create this card. If so, I will write up instructions.

Up next is the lovely Rochelle BlokI am looking forward to seeing Rochelle’s funky fold and to hopping around to check out everyone’s’ creations in our fourth Funky Folds Blog Hop. Just click on the graphic below to be taken to Rochelle’s blog.
