AWHT Colour Creations #27 Mango Melody

Mango Melody with Fond of Autumn

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, featuring one of the colours each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright orange yellow called Mango Melody. Mango Melody is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a happy colour similar to ripe mangos. This colour is lovely when used for flowers, tea cups, Autumn and so much more.

Mango Melody is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Soft Pastels, Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Hues of Happiness & Textured Chic DSP, Textured Chic Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, Light The Candles kit and Love This Memory Notebook kit.

Here is the card I created using Mango Melody card-stock and Classic Stampin' Ink plus other bits and pieces

The Fond of Autumn bundle is also great to use during spring to brighten someone’s day with a personally created card.

This wasn’t my initial design but the first didn’t work so this happy card was created. I love Mango Melody with a bright pink and so for this project combined it with Melon Mambo plus Granny Apple Green and a touch of Garden Green for the leaves. For me, part of getting to know a colour is finding other colours that work well with it.

A card base of Mango Melody card-stock has a little White Craft ink daubered over some of the front. A piece of Basic White card-stock was die cut using the detailed die from the Autumn Bouquet dies. It was used twice to die cut most of the background. It is a beautiful die. As I was die cutting I was reminded how good Stampin’ Up!s new Cut ‘n Emboss Machine is as it cut through this large detailed die with only a few passes through the machine. An earlier NON-Stampin Up! Machine had dead spots in the centre that couldn’t cut large detailed dies like this - it was so frustrating. That isn’t the case with Stampin’ Up!s current machine.

The large floral, leaf & berries stamp was stamped a number of times in Versamark ink on Shimmery White card-stock and heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. The flowers and leaves were water-coloured using a fine Water Painter. The flowers were water-coloured with a mix of Mango Melody and Melon Mambo Classic inks using varying amounts of the different colours, ie some flowers being more mango and others more mambo. The berries were mainly Melon Mambo ink and the leaves were coloured with Granny Apple Green and touches of Garden Green Classic inks. After the coloured sections had dried they were die cut with the coordinating die. This die  cuts the stamped image into a number of pieces and there are some gold embossed pieces remaining together with a water coloured panel that wasn’t used. Keep an eye out - they may turn up on next weeks project???

All of the water coloured pieces were arranged over the die cut card front and adhered with a mix of Dimensionals and Multi-purpose Liquid Glue. A sentiment from the Fond of Autumn stamp set was gold heat embossed onto Basic White card-stock. I used the curvy banner from the coordinating dies and then cut it down a little so it wasn’t as long. It was added with Dimensionals.

A bow of Pale Papaya Open Weave In Colour ribbon (that had been cut in half length wise) together with White Bakers twine (from the Basics Bakers Twine packet) was tucked under the sentiment banner and adhered with Glue Dots. A number of Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels were scattered around. These gems were perfect as they have both yellow and pink tinges.

A Basic White card inner was decorated with a water coloured spray of berries. One of the left over gold embossed leaves/acorns pieces was adhered to the back flap of a Basic White C6 Envelope. I hadn’t water coloured it but quite like the gold and white design on the flap.

Thank you for spending time with me on my blog. I hope these bright and happy colours bring some joy.
