AWHT Colour Creations #28 Melon Mambo

Melon Mambo with Fond of Autumn

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright pink called Melon Mambo. Melon Mambo is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a strong, bright and happy pink colour. This colour is lovely when used for flowers or berries, tea cups and so much more.

Melon Mambo is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends Combo, Watercolor Pencils, Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Hues of Happiness DSP, Celebrate Today Magnet Board Kit, Solid Faceted Gems and Glossy Dots Assortment.

Here is the card I created using Melon Mambo card-stock, Classic Stampin' Ink, Stampin' Blends Combo & Stampin' Write Marker plus other bits and pieces

If you visited my blog last week, you may remember that I created a wet on wet water-colour panel with Mango Melody and Melon Mambo. I didn't use it last week so thought I would use it for my Melon Mambo project. I do love these colours together. It was created by wetting a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and then adding Melon Mambo & Mango Melody inks. Once dry, the watercolored panel was embossed with the Stitched Greenery die and mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Melon Mambo card-stock. In turn this was adhered directly to a Thick Basic White card-base.

A piece of Melon Mambo card-stock was cut with the curved die in the Basic Borders dies and popped up with Dimensionals. Some White Craft ink was splattered over the card background. The Fond of Autumn flower/leaf/berry arrangement was stamped multiple times onto Shimmery White card-stock with Versamark ink and then gold heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool

The berry sections of the arrangements were water-coloured using the fine Water Painter with Melon Mambo ink for the berries and Parakeet Party & Garden Green inks for the leaves. The berries were die cut away from the other sections of the arrangement. They were arranged over the curved edge with the stems tucked under the precious berries and adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The banner from the Fond of Autumn stamps was white heat embossed onto Melon Mambo card-stock and the sentiment was shaped on a block so it would fit within the banner. The banner was fussy cut and then added with Dimensionals. A piece of Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon was coloured with a dark Melon Mambo Stampin' Blend, cut in half length-wise and tied in a bow with some Gold Simply Elegant trim. The bow was tucked under the sentiment. Some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels were scattered as the finishing touch.

The decoration of the card inner is a simple strip of Melon Mambo card-stock to the left, with a sentiment and flower from the Fond of Autumn stamp set stamped in Melon Mambo ink. A C6 Basic White envelope was decorated with a gold embossed set of flowers left over from the embossed Fond of Autumn arrangement after removing the berries. Just simple decorations this time.

  1. Really pretty use of this colour, Andrea. I LOVE the berries coloured in Melon Mambo, and really like the look of the two greens you've combined for the leaves (an unexpectedly delightful combination!).

  2. Oh wow, that watercolour background is stunning, Andrea. Those colours are a fantastic combination. I adore the stitched greenery die, so that's a given, but the images with the berries is gorgeous and again, coloured to perfection.

  3. Andrea, that's great using up of your left over water coloured pieces! The yellow works so well with the pink and I love the embossing you have added as well.
