AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #13 Blackberry Bliss

Blackberry Bliss with Hey Chuck and a Christmas Bonus

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a rich deep berry colour called Blackberry Bliss. Blackberry Bliss is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a warm red purple. This colour would be a lovely when used for flowers, berries and chickens (wink).

Blackberry Bliss is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as the Stargazing DSP.

Blackberry Bliss
card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends combo have been used in the creation of this and the Christmas project below plus a range of non-Blackberry Bliss bits and pieces.

A friend of mine is celebrating her birthday tomorrow but we enjoyed a lunch together yesterday. This friend loves her chooks, so when I saw the Hey Chuck bundle I knew I needed to buy this set. Even though I created this card for her, I hasten to add that her ‘girls’ aren’t Fresh Freesia & Blackberry Bliss - but I think my chook looks cute. I did start by water-colouring a background panel but as the design developed a different background was needed.

This background was created by randomly stamping the chosen sentiment in Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin’ ink down the left side of a piece of Basic White card-stock. Fresh Freesia and Blackberry Bliss Classic inks were applied with a Blending Brush over the stamping. A Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker was used to add splatter. The background panel was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Blackberry Bliss card-stock and then onto the Basic White Thick card base.

One of the Hey Chuck chickens was stamped onto a piece of Fluid 100 Water-colour Paper in Versamark ink and then gold heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder, the Embossing Additions Tool Kit and a Heat Gun. The fence, cake and skate board were also gold embossed. The sun and wind direction arrow were die cut from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. The stamped and die cut pieces were all water-coloured - the chook with Fresh Freesia & Blackberry Bliss inks; the skate-board in Misty Moonlight ink; the arrow with Pretty Peacock ink; the sun with Lemon Lolly ink; and the fence with both Pretty Peacock & Misty Moonlight inks. When the chicken had dried I wanted some extra depth so added touches with Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends and to the fence with Pretty Peacock Blends. It’s OK to mix media.

A label from the Nested Essentials dies was cut from Basic White card-stock and then embossed with stripes from the Stripes and Splatters 3D Embossing Folders. It was added with Dimensionals. All of the water-coloured pieces were arranged with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Dimensionals. A Linen Twine bow was tied around the arrow. The sentiment was white heat embossed onto Blackberry Bliss card-stock and some Versamark ink was added with a Blender Pen and then a little gold Emboss Powder was heat embossed - to link the sentiment with the gold embossed images. The final touch - the addition of some Iridescent Basic Rhinestone Jewels. I love adding a touch of glimmer.

Another chook had been coloured with Stampin’ Blends, ie Blackberry Bliss, Pretty Peacock & Fresh Freesia Blends combos. Initially I had been playing with colours for the chicken, but decided it wasn’t the preferred colour combo for the chicken on the card front - however, she was perfect for inside the card. I couldn’t waste her. Basic White card-stock was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Blackberry Bliss card-stock. The same chicken image was gold heat embossed onto a C6 Basic White envelope.

Christmas Card:

I know it seems so so early, but I needed to start creating Christmas cards to build my card stash for Christmas. The Heart of Christmas Blog Hop is coming soon but before we start blog hopping I am hoping to create a Christmas card as well for the Colour Creations Blog Hops.

Like non-traditional twists in Christmas cards then create a Blackberry Bliss Snow Crystal card with watercolouring.

As mentioned, I had created a water-colour background but then decided it wasn’t right for the card above so in creating a Christmas card I started with the piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper that had been coloured with Blackberry Bliss and Misty Moonlight inks.

Like non-traditional twists in Christmas cards then create a Blackberry Bliss Snow Crystal card with watercolouring.

It was stamped with the Snow Crystal stamp in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder. The water-colouring wasn’t quite right so I added more Blackberry Bliss ink using the wet on wet water colour technique and the emboss resist technique. Once dry White Pigment Craft ink was splattered over to add extra highlights.

The dried water-colour panel was trimmed down with a Deckled Rectangle die and then mounted onto Distressed Gold Speciality Paper. Three snowflakes from the Chic dies cut snowflakes from Gold Foil.

A sentiment from Hope & Peace stamp set (currently an Online Exclusive) was white heat embossed onto Blackberry Bliss card-stock and some of the words were fussy cut out. They were added with Mini Dimensionals. The Gold Foil snowflakes were arranged and adhered with Liquid Glue or a Dimensional. A number of Adhesive-backed Sparkle Gems and a double bow of the Gold Elegant Trim were added.

A Basic White card-stock inner was stamped with part of the Snow Crystal Stamp in Blackberry Bliss ink as was a C6 Basic White envelope.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #12 Berry Burst

Berry Burst with Quiet Meadow & Cheerful Daisies

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright happy purple called Berry Burst. Berry Burst is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a pinky purple. This colour would be lovely when used for florals, berries and balloons, plus so much more.  Berry Burst was first introduced by Stampin’ Up! as an In Colour and was brought back with this years colour refresh.

Berry Burst is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Bright & Beautiful, Stargazing, Masterfully Made & Glorious Gingham DSPs; plus Soft Shimmer, White Centre & Holographic Trio Speciality Papers; Bright & Beautiful Memories & More Card Pack and Cards & Envelopes; as well as Tinsel Gems Four Pack & Adhesive Backed Sequins Trio.

Water-colouring gold embossed flowers or a colourful background featuring Stampin’ Up!s Berry Burst creates delightful card to give to special people.

Berry Burst card-stock, ink and Tinsel Gems Four Pack have been used in the creation of these projects plus a range of non-Berry Burst bits and pieces.

Last weekend I was privileged to demonstrate a Watercolouring technique at a combined event that had been selected as one of Stampin’ Up!s 35 for 35 events (#35for35) in celebration of Stampin’ Up!s 35 year anniversary. These 2 cards were linked to my water-colour demonstrations.

CARD 1

Water-colouring gold embossed flowers featuring Stampin’ Up!s Berry Burst creates a delightful birthday card.

One of the water-colour techniques demonstrated was a wet-on-wet water-colouring of stamped images. I had gold heat embossed on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper the flower from the Quiet Meadow stamp set and then water-coloured within the images. The images above were water-coloured with Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly (and a touch of Daffodil Delight), Gorgeous Grape, Azure Afternoon. Once dry, the flowers were fussy cut, however, they could have been die cut using the Meadow dies. I took the flowers to cut out when I was wanting to sit & relax, hence the fussy cutting.

The top row of flowers are water-coloured with Berry Burst. The bottom row has been coloured with Lemon Lolly/Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, & Azure Afternoon. The middle row was water-coloured with a combination of inks from the top row above and the bottom row below.

Two smaller stitched square dies from the Stylish Shapes dies were cut from Basic White card-stock, ie 9 of the two sizes for each of the 9 flowers to sit on. Some leaves from the Meadows dies were also cut from Basic White card-stock.

All the pieces were arranged, layering the smaller square over the slightly larger square, which was adhered with Dimensionals to the Thick Basic White card base. The flowers were adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue in the centre. Parts of the leaves were tucked under the flowers with Glue Dots.

A sentiment from the Something Fancy Stamp set was gold heat embossed on Basic White card-stock and a thin strip of Berry Burst card-stock was adhered under the sentiment strip. A piece of Gold Elegant Trim was tied into a double bow and slipped under the sentiment. Some oh so gorgeous Berry Burst Tinsel Gems from the Four Pack were scattered around the sentiment strip.

The inside of the card was decorated with a thin strip of Berry Burst card-stock, a water-coloured flower and a couple of left over pieces of die cut leaves. I ran out of time to create a square 6” envelope, so will do that in the next couple of days.

CARD 2

Water-colouring a colourful background with white daisies on top featuring Stampin’ Up!s Berry Burst creates a delightful card.

This card was created as one of the display samples to show created projects using samples of the techniques being demonstrated. This card incorporates a wet-on-wet water-coloured background and also features the Cheerful Daisies bundle.

Water-colouring a colourful background with white daisies on top featuring Stampin’ Up!s Berry Burst creates a delightful card.

A piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was wet on wet water coloured using Berry Burst, Gorgeous Grape, and a touch of Azure Afternoon Classic inks. The wide brushed Water Painter was used to apply water & inks. The panel was left to dry and then die cut with a mid-sized Deckled Rectangle set of dies. Some of the colours blended in some areas to give a look similar to Fresh Freesia, so the watercolour panel was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Fresh Freesia card-stock. I so love seeing the effect of water-colouring - you will never get the same effect twice.

Water-colouring a colourful background with white daisies on top featuring Stampin’ Up!s Berry Burst creates a delightful card.

Pieces of die cut daisies were cut from Basic White card-stock using the Cheerful Daisies dies, ie both layers of the daisy dies, the leaves and the twig die. Two of the Nested Essential dies cut elongated shapes from Basic White card-stock and the larger shape from a piece of leafy Vellum Basics.

A sentiment from the Layering Leaves stamp set was stamped on Basic White card-stock and fussy cut out - I think I used Misty Moonlight ink. Iridescent Rhinestone Basics were sprinkled around.

A Basic White card-stock inner has a very thin strip of Fresh Freesia card-stock adhered to the right and die cut side-view daisy adhered at the top right.

Thank you so much for dropping by to check out my Berry Burst creations. I so appreciate it.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #11 Basic Gray

Basic Gray with Sweet & Precious

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep grey called Basic Gray. Basic Gray is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a dark steel grey. This neutral can be used for earthen pots, animals, instead of black for a slightly softer look and with white & pops of colour for striking effect. I love grey with pink or yellow but have used it in this project with blues and a touch of yellow.

Basic Gray is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, spots re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Watercolor Pencils Assortment 1; Neutrals Designer Series Papers as well as Timeless Greeting, The Best Remedy, Kindness Card and Christmas Whimsy Card Kits; plus Classic Matte Dots.

A watercoloured background with Basic Gray Sweet & Precious penguins creates a gorgeous scenic card and add some embossing paste for a little extra flourish.

Basic Gray card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Watercolor Pencil have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Basic Gray bits and pieces.

A watercoloured background with Basic Gray Sweet & Precious penguins creates a gorgeous scenic card and add some embossing paste for a little extra flourish.

Basic Gray is an essential neutral in a colour range, yet initially I struggled as to how I would hero this colour, but then … I remembered the gorgeous Sweet & Precious stamp set, with the delightful parent/child penguins. Initially, I was thinking of a gray & white card with a possible pop of colour. As often happens the design evolved along the way.

A watercoloured background with Basic Gray Sweet & Precious penguins creates a gorgeous scenic card and add some embossing paste for a little extra flourish.

A friend traveled to Antarctica in January and so I had his holiday and photos in mind as I created. I thought of the bright blue skies and expanse of white ice. This led to a blue water-colour background using Azure Afternoon and Blueberry Bushel Classic Stampin’ inks on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with the wide Water Painter brush. Once dry this panel was to be mounted on a slightly larger piece of Basic Gray card-stock and a Basic White Thick card base.

A watercoloured background with Basic Gray Sweet & Precious penguins creates a gorgeous scenic card and add some embossing paste for a little extra flourish.

The Mother & Child penguin image was stamped on Basic White card-stock using Basic Gray ink. The image was fussy cut with Stampin’ Up!s brilliant Snips. I felt it was important to trim out the white space between the 2 penguins and the new hobby blade attachment was perfect for this. The hobby blade is part of the new Take Your Pick Crafter Tips. A little Crushed Curry and Basic Gray was added to the image with Watercolour Pencils. Very carefully a little water was added with the fine tip Water Painter to blend the Crushed Curry colouring. Some Shimmery White Embossing Paste was applied over one of the Foursquare Decorative Masks with a Palette Knife. When I went to apply the paste I realised I didn’t have any Matte Paste (it’s now on my list). If I was to create something similar I would change the way I applied the paste to have it look more ‘ice’ like.

A watercoloured background with Basic Gray Sweet & Precious penguins creates a gorgeous scenic card and add some embossing paste for a little extra flourish.

A number of finishing touches included some splattering using the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker. The sentiment (from the same set of stamps) was stamped in Basic Gray ink on Basic White card-stock and fussy cut. I saw a piece of trimmed-in-half Balmy Blue & White Variegated Ribbon on my workspace from another project. A number of lengths were frayed off, circled around my fingers and adhered behind the penguins. The penguins and sentiment were positioned with Dimensionals. A number of Loose Silver Sequins were scattered around and adhered with a tiny dot of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

A watercoloured background with Basic Gray Sweet & Precious penguins creates a gorgeous scenic card and add some embossing paste for a little extra flourish.

The card inner was simply decorated with another stamped image of the penguins and a thin strip of Basic Gray card-stock. A C6 Basic White envelope was partially stamped with the same image in Basic Gray ink.

Thank you for dropping in. I do so appreciate your visit to my Blog for the Colour Creations Blog Hop.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #10 Balmy Blue

Balmy Blue with Textured Floral as a Slim-line Card

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. We started with the newly introduced colours and this week we commence showcasing Stampin’ Up!s continuing colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a soft pale blue called Balmy Blue. I love it. Balmy Blue is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a delightful light blue. This colour is so lovely when used for sky, water, baby projects, soft backgrounds, flowers and I love using it at Christmas time for snow scenes. It coordinates well with other blues or other subtle colours (as used in my card) and so many other combinations.

Balmy Blue is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Watercolor Pencils, Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Les Shoppes and Countryside Inn DSPs; plus Textured Shimmer Paper, Robot Buddies Kids Card Kit and Christmas Whimsy Card Kit; Balmy Blue & White Double Stitched Ribbon and the Variegated Ribbon; as well as Iridescent Pastel Gems and Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins.

Say Happy Birthday with a personally created slimline card using Balmy Blue and other subtle colours with Stampin’ Up!s Textured Florals and Slim Card dies.

Balmy Blue card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker,
Balmy Blue/White Variegated Ribbon and Iridescent Pastel Gems have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Balmy Blue bits and pieces.

Say Happy Birthday with a personally created slimline card using Balmy Blue and other subtle colours with Stampin’ Up!s Textured Florals and Slim Card dies.

Recently, I was checking out the Stampin’ Up! Clearance Rack and was reminded that the Slim Card dies were available at an amazing price. I decided to create a project using these dies to affirm their availability. My project is also featuring the delightful Textured Floral bundle from the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue.

Say Happy Birthday with a personally created slimline card using Balmy Blue and other subtle colours with Stampin’ Up!s Textured Florals and Slim Card dies.

I stamped out a range of flowers & leaves on Basic White card-stock using the Textured Floral stamp set with Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, Bubble Bath, Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Lost Lagoon Classic Stampin’ inks. Each image was inked up in the light ink first then touches of the coordinating second colour was added with a Sponge Dauber before stamping onto the card-stock. This gives subtle life and interest to the images.

Say Happy Birthday with a personally created slimline card using Balmy Blue and other subtle colours with Stampin’ Up!s Textured Florals and Slim Card dies.

The leaves and flowers were all cut with the coordinating dies from the Textured Floral dies. A number of leafy sprigs were die cut from Basic White card-stock. One of the Slim Card dies was used to cut out the mosaic style design from Balmy Blue card-stock. Some of the cut out tiles were retained. I actually remembered and looked for my Adhesive Sheets - but they were no-where to be found. Oh no. It will be on my next Stampin’ Up! order as it makes adhering down fine die-cutting so much easier.

Say Happy Birthday with a personally created slimline card using Balmy Blue and other subtle colours with Stampin’ Up!s Textured Florals and Slim Card dies.

I decided to use the smooshing technique to add some colour to the background. As my water-colour paper wasn’t long enough I used Thick Basic White card-stock (as it would respond better to water than the finer Basic White card-stock). I used my Stampin’ Write Markers and applied Balmy Blue with touches of Azure Afternoon to a plastic bag (it was actually a bag that had held a Stampin’ Up! ribbon combo - its always good to re-purpose & re-use). Some water was misted over the scribbled ink using a Stampin’ Mister. I used a cellophane bag (that had been packaging for a set of SU dies) to “smoosh” into the ink and then to smoosh it onto the background panel. Once partially coloured, the panel was left to dry before a section of the die cut slim card detailed panel was adhered in place.

Say Happy Birthday with a personally created slimline card using Balmy Blue and other subtle colours with Stampin’ Up!s Textured Florals and Slim Card dies.

A few of the die cut “tiles” were stacked one-on-top-of-the-other and adhered back into a few of the tile cut outs to vary the look & dimension of the die cut panel. The flowers & leaves were arranged and adhered with a mix of Glue Dots, Dimensionals & Multipurpose Liquid Glue. A sentiment from the same stamp set was heat embossed onto Balmy Blue card-stock using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder, the Embossing Addition Tool Kit and a Heat Tool. Some Balmy Blue/\White Variegated ribbon was cut into a number of pieces lengthwise and 2 blue pieces were tied into a bow that was tucked under the large flower. A few Iridescent Pastel Gems were scattered around the sentiment as the final shimmery touch.

A few remaining flowers and leaves were arranged onto the Basic White card inner and a white slim-line envelope to bring some continuity from the card front’s design.

Thank you so much for calling in to check out my Balmy Blue project. I do appreciate you spending time with me.
