Misty Moonlight with Watercolour and For Unto Us
Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart 2021-2022 Colour Creations Blog Hop. This is the final Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2021 - wow, where has the year gone???
This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep muted blue called Misty Moonlight. Misty Moonlight is part of the 2020 - 2022 In Colour Family and is a delightful blue. I so love this blue which works beautifully with various colours including Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape.
Misty Moonlight is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends and the 2020-2022 In Colour Designer Series Papers as well as Tidings of Christmas, Hand-Penned, Beauty of the Earth and Pattern Party Host Designer Series Papers. It is also part of the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack, 2020-2022 In Colour Square Gems and the Dandy Garden and Hand-Penned Memories & More Packs; as well as the Christmas Whimsy Card Kit. The cards below simply have used Misty Moonlight Card-stock, Classic Stampin' ink and a Stampin' Write Marker plus a range of other non-MM bits and pieces.
Here are my cards showcasing Misty Moonlight:
Both cards have used the wet-on-wet water-colour technique with the same Classic Stampin' inks and the same Christmas sentiment stamp set For Unto Us. And yet they are different card designs. Similar but different.
CARD 1:
Half a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was water-coloured with Misty Moonlight, Gorgeous Grape and Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' inks. The wide brush Water Painter first applied water to the watercolor paper, starting with water in the centre section. Misty Moonlight ink was added and spread around and partially dried with a Heat Gun. Water was applied to the LHS with added Bermuda Bay ink. The same process occurred on the other side with some Gorgeous Grape ink applied. Again it was partially dried with a Heat Gun and then put aside to dry fully.
The water-coloured panel was embossed with Evergreen Forrest 3D Embossing Folder. Some White Craft ink was spattered over the embossed water-coloured panel. Die cut trees, using the Majestic Mountain dies, were cut from Basic White card-stock and adhered at the centre trunks to the water-colour background.
This panel was mounted to a slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock and then to a Misty Moonlight card base. A sentiment from the For Unto Us stamp set was stamped in Versamark ink onto Misty Moonlight card-stock and then heat embossed with White Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. I wanted the sentiment to be long and thin and thought the greeting still worked without the 3rd line, so fussy cut it out.
A piece of Glittery White Organdy Ribbon was cut in half lengthwise and looped in place and attached with Glue Dots in a position that would be covered with the sentiment. The sentiment was adhered in place with Dimensionals. A number of stars from the Cute Stars Adhesive-backed Sequins were added as the final touch.
Some left over water-coloured paper (from the second card) was cut into strips and adhered to the Basic White card inner at each end. The card inner was also stamped with a different sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink. The C6 Basic White Envelope was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink with the sentiment used on the card front.
CARD 2:
While I could have also used the emboss resist technique, I decided to water-colour first and then, when the panel was dry, to heat emboss the sentiment to the water-coloured panel. The panel of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was water-coloured with Misty Moonlight ink and then Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape inks were added to either side - BB to the left and GG to the right.
Once the water-coloured panel was dry the sentiment was heat embossed with Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. The panel was cut down with a Stitched Rectangle die and mounted to a slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock and then to a piece of Misty Moonlight card-stock. This panel was splattered with both White Craft Ink and a Misty Moonlight Stampin Write Marker.
A piece of Basic White card-stock was embossed with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder and then adhered to a Misty Moonlight card-base. It was splattered using a Misty Moonlight Stampin' Write Marker. A piece of Glittered White Organdy Ribbon was folded in half and wrapped around the mounted water-coloured panel. The panel was then popped up on Dimensionals and centred on the dry embossed background.
The second part of the sentiment "Glory to the newborn King" was heat embossed onto an off cut from the die cut water-coloured panel. The off cut was trimmed down with the Trimmer and partially fussy cut. The remaining half piece of Glittered Organdy Ribbon (the other half was used on the previous card) was also swished & looped, and held in place with Glue Dots. The extra sentiment was popped up on Dimensionals over the swish of Glittered Organdy Ribbon. A number of the Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels were scattered around to add an extra touch of shimmer.
Another piece of left over water-coloured paper was cut into strips and adhered to the Basic White card inner at the top and bottom. The card inner was stamped with a different sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink. The C6 Basic White Envelope was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink with the same sentiment as used on the card inner.

Super pretty, Andrea, I adore the colours you've chosen for your watercolouring backgrounds. Those crisp white trees on top of the embossed background is beautiful.I love the white embossed sentiment on your second card with the music embossed behind, perfect with this sentiment.
ReplyDeleteAndrea this is such a pretty colour combination and your watercolouring, as usual, is just perfect! Love both your cards xx
ReplyDeleteThese colours, watered down, are delightfully muted, Andrea. They make for gorgeous focal panels on your cards. I especially love the die-cut white trees on your first card.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful cards. TFS
ReplyDeleteLove the water coloring, so subtle. My favourite is the 2nd card, very pretty with such a nice sentiment.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous effect using this technique, Andrea. Both cards are beautiful, as usual.
