AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #5 Wild Wheat

Wild Wheat with Timeless Arrangements

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. First, we are showcasing the new colours, including the new 2023-2025 In Colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a muted mustard colour called Wild Wheat. Wild Wheat is part of the new 2023-2025 In Colour Family and is an interesting colour. This colour would be lovely when used for grasses, autumn leaves, muted flowers and I also see the colour in tree lichen. I’m still exploring coordinating colours but I think it works well with complementary colours, eg mauves/purples (as used in the card below) and earthy tones as used last week.

Wild Wheat is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper as well as Fresh As A Daisy, Let’s Go Fishing DSPs; plus In Color Luster Speciality Paper & Treat Bags, In Color Textured Ribbon & Jute Trim; and In Color Dots.

Wild Wheat card-stock, ink, In Color Textured Ribbon
and In Color Dots have been used in creating this project plus a range of non-Wild Wheat bits and pieces.

I loved Wild Wheat as part of last week’s card were I stamped feathery grasses in this ink. However, I struggled a little to showcase Wild Wheat this week. As I love to do, I started by creating a water-coloured background with Wild Wheat Classic Stampin’ ink using the wet on wet water-colour technique and the large flat Water Painter. I added ink to one of the long sides of a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and encouraged it to drip down to the other side of the panel. I love the drip effect. Later, it was layered on a Wild Wheat card-stock panel and then onto a Thick Basic White card base.

But how would I use the water-coloured background panel??? I decided to add a die cut panel of Basic White card-stock that had been cut with the long Around the Bend holy die. That way I could show some of the solid coloured light Wild Wheat section of the water-coloured panel as well as the drippy section. This decision did make a later step more difficult but more on that later on. I was also wanting to work with my new Timeless Arrangements dies, so I used the range of leafy dies to cut multiple pieces from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. They were coloured with Fresh Freesia, Moody Mauve, Highland Heather and a little Orchard Oasis. A few long thin pieces were coloured with Wild Wheat ink.

When all the water-coloured pieces were dry, the rectangular base section of the leaves were each cut in half so the base wouldn’t show through the holes once they were adhered. Pieces were layered lighter to darker with the bases being bent to match the curve of the top panel. Multi-purpose Liquid Glue adhered all the pieces in place. As there were 5 layers of card-stock adhering the leaves in place, I layered scrap pieces of card-stock to the other side of the top panel to give even dimension.

As I wasn’t happy with the way the card was looking I tried this and that and something else. After much trial and error, I added a thin strip of the Wild Wheat Textured Ribbon along the curved edge. A sentiment from the Go To Greetings stamp set was white heat embossed on Wild Wheat card-stock, using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. A mix of Wild Wheat & Moody Mauve In Color Dots finished the card front.

The card inner was created with a panel of Basic White card-stock mounted on a slightly larger piece of Wild Wheat. A thin strip of left over water-coloured paper was added with a few single water-coloured leaves. A C6 Basic White envelope was second generation stamped in Wild Wheat ink with the little flower from the Timeless Arrangements stamps. A few pre-cut water-coloured flowers were layered over the stamping.

Thanks so much for dropping in.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #4 Pebbled Path

Pebbled Path with Earthen Textures Fancy Fold

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week, however, we are starting the Stampin’ Up! year with the new colours, focussing on the 2023-2025 In Colours first.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on an earthy grey called Pebbled Path. Pebbled Path is part of the new 2023-2025 In Colour Family and is a warm mid-to-deep grey. This colour would be a lovely neutral when used for earthen pots and would be brilliant to use instead of black for sentiments. As with the other new colours, I am exploring coordinating colours but I think it work’s well with terracotta and yellows (as used in the card below).

Pebbled Path
is
produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper as well as Fresh As A Daisy, Earthen Elegance, Let’s Go Fishing DSPs; plus In Color Luster Speciality Paper, Treat Bags & Grid Paper, In Color Textured Ribbon & Jute Trim; and In Color Dots.

Pebbled Path card-stock, ink, Earthen Elegance DSP
and 2023-2025 In Color Dots have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Pebbled Path bits and pieces.

My card today has used Pebbled Path in a number of ways and also features the Earthen Textures bundle, a new bundle from the recently released Stampin’ Up! 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue. I also created this week’s project as a fun fold. A big “Thank You” to Emma Goddard, an amazing UK Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, for the inspiration of this fancy fold. Recently, I saw Emma demonstrate this fun fold as part of The Crafty Carrot’s May series #thecraftycarrotco .  I wanted to create something special as a male friend is having a birthday this coming Friday. I hope he likes it.

The card base was cut, scored and burnished using Thick Very Vanilla card-stock. Two mid-sized Deckled Rectangles cut the apertures from the card base pieces. A background for the inner section was created with Pebbled Path Classic Stampin’ Ink, the large flat Water Painter and Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. Ink was added at the top of the panel and it was allowed to dribble down the panel. Once dry, it was turned up-side-down so the darker area was at the bottom and the lighter section at the top. It was splattered with mid-sized Water Painter and White Craft ink as well as a Pebbled Path Stampin’ Write Marker.

A series of pots were cut out from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper using the Earthen Textures dies. Foliage pieces were die cut from Fluid 100 Watercolor paper plus design die cut pieces to add to pots. The smaller spiky foliage was die cut from Distressed Gold Speciality paper. Two of the leaf shapes were water-coloured with Crushed Curry ink and the bigger leaf also had some Calypso Coral ink. Some of the design pieces for pots were coloured with Pebbled Path ink, while one was left uncoloured. Feathery leaves were stamped in Wild Wheat ink and fussy cut and twiggy foliage were stamped in Pebbled Path ink and fussy cut. I fussy cut these out as I wanted the pieces cut closer to the stamped images than the dies would cut.

A larger pot was stamped in Pebble Path ink and die cut out. All the die cut pots had some shading added to one side and the base using Pebbled Path ink with a Mini Blending Brush

The pots, water-coloured leaves and stamped foliage were arranged. Before adhering them in place, the background piece was stamped with the feathery foliage in Wild Wheat and stamped again and again - ie second & third generation stamping. Everything was adhered in place using either
Dimensionals, Multi-purpose Liquid Glue and Glue Dots.

A belly band was created in Pebbled Path card-stock and a strip of the Pebbled Path DSP design was wrapped around the belly band with a strip of Distressed Gold Speciality paper. The larger deckled rectangle, which had been cut out from an inner layer, was used as the label base for the card front design piece.  A couple of pots and a number of leaves were arranged using a mix of Dimensionals, Multi-purpose Liquid Glue and Glue Dots. A sentiment from the Earthen Textures stamp set was white heat embossed with Versamark ink, White Emboss powder and a Heat Tool. The sentiment was cut into 3 and added with Dimensionals. A few Pebbled Path 2023-2025 In Color Dots gave a little shine. Some extra Dots also were added inside the card.

I decided to create a panel for my personal message on the inner left hand side of the card using another tall pot and some foliage.

I was hoping to create a sense of an atrium of pots and foliage with the fancy fold layered scene on the inside. What do you think???

I had fun creating this card with one of my friends in mind. I hope he likes it. Must admit I was a touch nervous while I was creating it as he taught tertiary art before he retired.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #3 Moody Mauve

Moody Mauve with Pansy Patch

[Edit added]

So delighted, my Moody Mauve Pansy card was a Global Design Project winner!

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week, however, we are starting with the new colours, with the 2023-2025 In Colours first.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a muted reddy purple called Moody Mauve. Moody Mauve is part of the new 2023-2025 In Colour Family and is a colour I love - but then, I love muted colours. This colour would be lovely when used for flowers and all things mauve. I’m still exploring coordinating colours and have used Old Olive, some Mossy Meadow with a touch of Daffodil Delight in the card below. It also would go beautifully with Fresh Freesia.

Moody Mauve is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper as well as Fresh As A Daisy, Earthen Elegance DSPs; plus In Color Luster Speciality Paper, Treat Bags & Grid Paper, In Color Textured Ribbon & Jute Trim; and In Color Dots.

As Mothers’ Day was fast approaching I was looking at plants in my local nursery and saw some gorgeous pansies displaying Moody Mauve petals. I determined to water-colour die cut pansies for this Blog Hop. I then saw the newly released Global Design Project Challenge - #GDP394 so have used that layout for my card. I love to follow the GDP as most of the team have been and or are Stampin’ Up! Artisans. Always inspiring. Clicking on this image will take you to the GDP web site.

The pansies, bud and leaves were cut from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using the Pansy die set. These pieces were water-coloured - wet on wet technique using Moody Mauve Classic Stampin’ ink together with Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Classic inks.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was used for the background. Delicate stencilling was added using a Foursquare Decorative Mask with Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadows inks. Patches of Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadow were added with Blending Brushes with some colour blending in areas. This panel was adhered directly to a Moody Mauve card-base.

All the water-coloured flower, leaves and bud pieces were arranged with regard to the #GDP394 layout. A sentiment from the Wonderful Thoughts stamp set was white heat embossed on Moody Mauve card-stock with Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. As it was a really long sentiment, it was cut into three. Some Moody Mauve Textured Ribbon was cut lengthwise into 3 and the 2 edge pieces were tied into a bow and tucked under a pansy with Glue Dots. A few beautiful 2023-2025 In Color Dots added a final touch of shine.

A Basic White card inner also was stencilled with Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadows inks along the inner and bottom edges. Another sentiment from the Wonderful Thoughts stamps was stamped with Moody Mauve ink. An envelope will be similarly stencilled.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #2 Copper Clay

Copper Clay with Nested Friends & Some Water-colour

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. We have started with new colours, including the 2023-2025 In Colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a rich rusty terracotta called Copper Clay. Copper Clay is part of the new 2023-2025 In Colour Family and is a great colour. This colour would be lovely when used for earthen ware pots, autumn leaves and some animals. I’m still exploring coordinating colours but it is delightful with Petal Pink and Old Olive (as used in the card below).

Copper Clay is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper as well as Fresh As A Daisy, Earthen Elegance Designer Series Papers; plus In Color Luster Speciality Paper, Treat Bags and Grid Paper; In Color Textured Ribbon & Jute Trim;  In Color Dots and Adhesive-Backed Solid Gems.

Copper Clay card-stock, ink, Blends Combo and In Color Dots have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Copper Clay bits and pieces.

A beautiful bird’s nest with some pretty flowers is a delightful way to send a friend a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

While I liked Copper Clay as a colour I needed to really think about how I would use the colour and which colours I would coordinate with it. As I love to do when trying out a new colour, I decided to create a water-coloured panel. As we are in Autumn and I see many Autumn leaves on my walks with Gemma, my choice of colours had Autumn leaves in the back of my mind. Here is the water-colour panel I created using Copper Clay, Petal Pink and Old Olive Classic Stampin’ inks, a broad brush Water Painter and Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.

While I loved the water-colour panel, it was rather dominant so I decided to layer a panel of … Vellum over it. Both panels were cut with Deckled Rectangles dies. I was also inspired by Cindy Schuster, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, current Stampin’ Up! concept artist and past Artisan who recently posted a delightful card featuring the Nested Friends bundle

A beautiful bird’s nest with some pretty flowers is a delightful way to send a friend a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

Using the Nested Friends dies, I cut the 2 layers of a bird’s nest and some eggs from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. The bird nest pieces were water-coloured using Copper Clay ink ensuring there was colour variation. The eggs were water-coloured with Petal Pink ink. I intended to add some speckling to the eggs with stamped off Copper Clay ink but became so engrossed with card creation it slipped my mind till now - oops! Die cut leaves using dies from the coordinating Nested Friends dies were coloured with Old Olive ink and some Petal Pink and diluted Copper Clay inks - reminiscent of Autumn leaves. A couple of twigs were die cut from Copper Clay card-stock using dies from the new Seasonal Branches dies.

A beautiful bird’s nest with some pretty flowers is a delightful way to send a friend a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

Flowers were stamped on Very Vanilla card-stock - thick and a panel of Very Vanilla card-stock was dry embossed using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder (I so love this embossing folder). Flowers from the Seasonal Branches stamp set were stamped in Petal Pink ink onto Very Vanilla card-stock. A bird from the Nested Friends stamp set was stamped in second generation Copper Clay ink and another was stamped in reverse using a Silicone Craft Sheet. The flowers and birds were coloured with Stampin’ Blends, incl Copper Clay, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral combos plus the Colour Lifter. There are coordinating dies for the flowers and birds.

A beautiful bird’s nest with some pretty flowers is a delightful way to send a friend a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

All the pieces were layered and arranged using a mix of Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Glue Dots

A beautiful bird’s nest with some pretty flowers is a delightful way to send a friend a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

A sentiment from the Nested Friends stamp set was heat embossed onto Copper Clay card-stock using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. This sentiment was fussy cut including cutting off one of the words. I only wanted “thinking of you” not “Always thinking of you”. This was added with Mini Dimensionals. A double Linen Thread bow had been tucked underneath the sentiment. Some Copper Clay In Colour Dots were added to give a touch of sparkle.

A beautiful bird’s nest with some pretty flowers is a delightful way to send a friend a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

A Very Vanilla piece of card-stock was topped and bottomed with a left over bit of the water-coloured panel. The bird’s nest was stamped in 3rd generation Copper Clay ink. A C6 Basic White envelope (my Very Vanilla envelopes had disappeared) also was stamped with the bird’s nest.
