AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #45 Shaded Spruce

Shaded Spruce with Country Flowers

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This series is drawing to a close, with just over a month to go. Where has the year gone!

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep green called Shaded Spruce. Shaded Spruce is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a wonderful green leaning a little towards the blue side. A friend has said this was one of her favourite colours. This colour is lovely for leaves, trees and is wonderful for Christmas, plus so much more.

Shaded Spruce is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, ink spots re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as a number of other products.

Shaded Spruce ink, card-stock and Stampin’ Write Marker have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Shaded Spruce bits and pieces.

You may be saying, do I recognise that stamp set? Well, unless you are a demonstrator and attended Stampin’ Up!s conference, On Stage recently you wouldn’t know that the Country Flowers stamps and dies are part of the coming 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue. As a demonstrator who was attending On Stage I had the opportunity to purchase this bundle in readiness for a crafting session last Thursday evening. It is a fun country-style bundle.

A panel of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was water-coloured with Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ ink and the wide Water Painter from the Water Painter set. When dry the coloured panel was cut with the larger Deckled Rectangle die and mounted on a slightly larger panel of Basic White card-stock. This in turn was mounted to a Shaded Spruce card-stock base. Another panel of Basic White card-stock was cut with the larger Deckled Rectangle die and sliced in 2, with the top section popped up on Dimensionals.

The leaves stamp from the Country Flowers stamp set was silver heat embossed onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper together with the handled pot stamp. The leaves were then water-coloured with Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green inks and the pot with Melon Mambo ink and a fine tipped Water Painter. The coordinating dies cut out the coloured images - the pot die even cut out the little section between the handle and the pot - that would be hard to do fussy cutting! The set of Country Flowers dies also included little flowers and leaves. A number were die cut from Fluid 100 paper and lightly water-coloured. All the pieces were arranged onto a Basic White Deckled Circle die cut.

“Sending love” sentiment was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink 3 times. “Love” was fussy cut out and tucked around the focal point. The final touch included a splattering of Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Write Marker and a single bow created using a little silver Elegant Trim that has been tucked under some leaves.   The flowers were decorated with the oh so gorgeous Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels.  I am so glad these beautiful Gems will be continuing into the coming Annual Catalogue.

The inner Basic White panel for writing a personal message was decorated with Silver heat embossed images using Versamark ink, Silver Emboss Powder, the Embossing Kit, and a Heat Tool. The sentiment was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink. To add a little colour, Shaded Spruce, Melon Mambo and Granny Apple  inks were added to the image using a Blender Pen. A Basic White C6 Envelope was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink.

AWHT Colour Creations #45 Shaded Spruce

Shaded Spruce with Sentimental Park and Natural Prints

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 45th 2022-23 Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a strong green called Shaded Spruce. Shaded Spruce is part of the Regals Colour Family and is another beautiful colour. This colour is lovely when used for leaves, trees, at Christmastime plus so much more.

Shaded Spruce is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, spots re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends Combo; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as Regency Park, Flowers & More (Host), Pretty Prints DSPs; plus Textured Shimmer Paper, Christmas Gifting Kit and a couple of things on the Clearance Rack.

Shaded Spruce card-stock, ink, Stampin' Write Marker and Pretty Prints DSP have been used in this project plus a range of non-Shaded Spruce bits and pieces. Here is my card:

A Sentimental Park & Natural Prints die cut/watercoloured wreath card is a lovely way to show a friend you care.

I initially thought I would try to use Shaded Spruce in a different way, but I saw a climbing plant on a recent walk with delightful mauve flowers which led me to create a leafy card with flowers. Also, as can often happen, the card design morphed along the way.

The wreath from the Natural Prints dies and flowers from the Sentimental Park dies were cut from Shimmery White card-stock. The wreath was water-coloured with Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ ink using the large Water Painter. The die cut flowers were water-coloured with either Blackberry Bliss or Fresh Freesia Classic inks with the former colouring the larger flowers and the later colouring the tiny flowers.

A Sentimental Park & Natural Prints die cut/watercoloured wreath card is a lovely way to show a friend you care.

A panel of Basic White card-stock was embossed with the Fern 3D embossing folder before some light blending of Fresh Freesia ink was laid under the wreath with one of Stampin’ Up!s Blending Brush. A splattering of Shaded Spruce was added to both the wreath and the background panel. Torn strips of the Pretty Prints Shaded Spruce DSP and Shaded Spruce card-stock were layered on one side of the embossed background panel.

Three extra wreaths were cut from Basic White card-stock and then layered directly over on-another and topped with the water-coloured wreath. The 2 largest die-cut flowers were adhered together and then, together with single layered flowers, were arranged on the wreath together with a Fresh Freesia Open Weave ribbon bow. (The ribbon had been cut in half lengthwise.) As I was working with the photos on this blog I noticed that the camera and lighting has shown the colour of the bow as quite different to the Fresh Freesia ink and certainly different to the way it looks in real life. Interesting.

A sentiment from the Sentimental Park stamp set was white heat embossed using White Emboss powder (from the Basics Emboss Powder set), Versamark ink and a Heat Tool on Shaded Spruce card-stock. The sentiment was fussy cut and positioned with Dimensionals near the floral arrangement. Some gorgeous Adhesive-backed Milky Dots were added to the centre of the larger flowers and around the sentiment. I love to add a little bling.

A Basic White card inner had left over water-coloured leaves and flowers added as very simple decoration. A C6 Basic White Envelope was also decorated with left over leaves and flowers. I intended to add some torn DSP, but forgot. Ah well, my memory is not what it used to be. I will probably add some later.

Thank you so much for calling by. I so appreciate you. Do continue around the Blog Hop as there is more Shaded Spruce creativity to see.

AWHT Colour Creations #42 Shaded Spruce

Shaded Spruce with Artfully Layered and Water-colour

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are continuing to work though all the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. Having started mid 2021 currently we are working through colours starting with "S", with only 4 more Blog Hops in the 2021-2022 round of Stampin' Up! colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a rich green (that has a touch of blue) called Shaded Spruce. Shaded Spruce is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a delightful green. This colour is gorgeous on its own or when used with other greens such as Pool Party and Mint Macaron.

Shaded Spruce is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, Spots re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, Regals Designer Series Papers, Sequins for Everything and Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The cards below have used Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin' ink (both re-inker and Stamp Pad) and Card-stock plus a range of other non-PP bits and pieces.

I have created 2 cards to showcase Shaded Spruce:

Show how much you care with a simple white palm frond over water-colour.

Send happiest birthday wishes to a special friend.

Isn't Shaded Spruce a lovely colour.

CARD 1:

This card shows the beauty of Shaded Spruce through a water-coloured ombre panel.

Show how much you care with a simple white palm frond over water-colour.

A half panel of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was watered down and then ink from a Shaded Spruce Re-inker was applied to the top of the panel with a mid-sized Water Painter, allowing the ink to run/drip down to the bottom. I had recently seen Emma Goddard, a UK Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and previous Artisan Team member, demonstrate this technique with Pacific Point. As I watched Emma, I thought of this coming blog hop and decided to try it out with Shaded Spruce. I had so much fun and ! love the effect. I ended up with green ink on my fingers - the only time I could genuinely say I had green fingers!  The water-coloured panel was mounted to slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock.  A Shaded Spruce card-stock card base was stamped on the front panel with the tiny leaves stamp from the Artfully Layered stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink.

Show how much you care with a simple white palm frond over water-colour.

A piece of
gorgeous soft White Faux Linen Ribbon (from the Flowers for Every Season Combo Pack) was cut into three lengthwise, wrapped around the mounted water-coloured panel and tied into a bow. Three palm leaf die-cuts were adhered together, one on top of the other, to give the leaf some dimension. The white palm leaf was adhered in place with the stem tucked under the ribbon. This centre panel was added to the card base with Dimensionals.

Show how much you care with a simple white palm frond over water-colour.

The card front was finished with a sentiment from the same stamp set that had been White heat embossed on Shaded Spruce card-stock. Some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels added some shimmer, together with a little Wink of Stella (its so hard to capture in the photos).

Show how much you care with a simple white palm frond over water-colour.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was adhered into the inner card base that had been similarly stamped with the little leaves.  The back flap of a Basic White C6 Envelope was stamped with the tiny leaves stamp in Shaded Spruce ink. As those who follow my cards know, I love to coordinate the envelope with the card inner, with both coordinating with the card front design.

Show how much you care with a simple white palm frond over water-colour.

CARD 2:

This second card features more water-coloured Shaded Spruce including Water-coloured stripes and die cut leaves coloured with Pool Party, Mint Macaron and touches of Shaded Spruce.

Send happiest birthday wishes to a special friend.

A piece of Shimmery White card-stock was painted with Shaded Spruce ink in stripes using the largest wide-brush Water Painter. The trimmed down striped panel was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Shaded Spruce card-stock. Three different leaf dies from the Tropical Layers die set were used to cut leaves from a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. As was mentioned, the leaves were water-coloured with Pool Party, Mint Macaron and Shaded Spruce Classic inks.

Send happiest birthday wishes to a special friend.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was embossed with the Splatters Embossing Folder from the 3D Stripes & Splatters Embossing Folders. A piece of Vellum card-stock was similarly embossed. The water-coloured Palm leaf was added onto the striped panel and the embossed Vellum adhered over. The other 2 water-coloured leaves were adhered in place and a piece of White Frayed ribbon was cut in half lengthwise and further frayed before being adhered directly to the Vellum.

Send happiest birthday wishes to a special friend.

A sentiment from the Artfully Layered stamp set was White heat embossed on Shaded Spruce card-stock, fussy cut and added with Mini Dimensionals over the White Frayed ribbon. Faux Sea Glass Shapes were sprinkled around for that touch of very subtle bling.

Send happiest birthday wishes to a special friend.

The Basic White card inner had a thin strip of stripes adhered to the LHS together with a die cut Basic White sprig of leaves.  A Basic White C6 Envelope was stamped with a leaf from the same stamp set in Shaded Spruce.

Send happiest birthday wishes to a special friend.

Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase - #46 Shaded Spruce

Shaded Spruce with Quiet Meadows

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 46th 2020/2021 Colour Creations Showcase by members of the Art with Heart Team.

This week we are showcasing a lovely colour, Shaded Spruce. It is a deep rich green. It is a gorgeous colour that is great for leaves, grass or other green 'things'. Of course artistic licence provides many other opportunities as well. Having said that, I decided to stay with the more traditional usage of leaves & stems.

Shaded Spruce has been produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, spots & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, Designer Series Paper including the Forever Greenery DSP; Hello Dear Friend and Gorgeous Posies Card Kits; and Sequins For Everything.

A personally designed and created card featuring Shaded Spruce and the Quiet Meadows bundle by Stampin' Up!, made by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

As mentioned, in designing a project around Shaded Spruce, I decided to watercolour a piece of Fluid 100 Water-colour Paper with Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin' ink and then die cut leaves from it. The design I had in my mind was completely different than the final project. Numerous aspects changed along the way as things didn't work on paper as envisaged in my mind. It was one of those projects where I tried numerous options and chopped and changed so many aspects. There was so much faffing around this time.

A personally designed and created card featuring Shaded Spruce and the Quiet Meadows bundle by Stampin' Up!, made by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

After water-colouring with Shaded Spruce, I also lightly water-coloured a piece of Shimmery White card-stock with Pool Party Classic Stampin' ink for the background. When almost dry it was embossed with the retiring Subtles 3D embossing folder. This was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Pool Party card-stock.

A personally designed and created card featuring Shaded Spruce and the Quiet Meadows bundle by Stampin' Up!, crafted by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

A large scolloped rectangle was die cut using the Scalloped Contour dies from Shaded Spruce card-stock. This set of dies is from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue only available to SU Demonstrators in April, but will bye available to all from the 4th May. One of the design changes was to heat emboss the scolloped edge with Silver Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. There were two layers of silver heat embossing. The mounted card background was layered on the scolloped piece, which in turn was layered on another piece of Shaded Spruce card-stock so that this lovely green could be seen through the scollops. All these layers were popped up on Dimensionals onto a card base of Thick Basic White card-stock.

Two flowers on stems and a leaf spray using the Meadows Dies (another new set) were cut from the Shaded Spruce water coloured paper. I had some water-coloured paper that I had water-coloured with 3 of the new In Colours - Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink. They are beautiful colours. A flower head was die cut from each colour and I cut a flower centre from un-died scrap of Shimmery White card-stock. As there are 4 dies in this shape, I suspect that the shape may represent little buds or elongated flowers to go with the long small leaf die, but it also works as a flower centre. It was dotted using the Pale Papaya Stampin' Write Marker. The flower heads were popped up on
Mini Dimensionals.

The die cut flowers/stems were arranged with pieces of the leaf spray and adhered in place with a mix of Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Mini Dimensionals.

A little tag from made from the Meadows dies with Shaded Spruce card-stock. It was stamped with the word "Love" from the Quiet Meadows Stamp Set using Versamark ink and heat embossed with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. The tag was positioned with a Dimensional; and a piece of White Twine from the Snail Mail Combo Pack was tied in a bow and adhered with a Glue Dot. To finish the card front design, 3 Genial Gems were added. They are so gorgeous and also come from the new
2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. New products will be available to all from 4 May.

A personally designed and created card featuring Shaded Spruce and the Quiet Meadows bundle by Stampin' Up!, crafted by Andrea Sargent, Australia.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Pool Party card-stock and adhered inside the card. A piece of the water-coloured leaf was added as an understated design element. Another leaf will be adhered to a C6 Basic White envelope to tie the envelope in with the card. A second leaf was hiding underneath something at the time of photographing the card, so the decorated envelope is not pictured here.

For once Gemma let me photograph her with the card. She had a hair cut a few days ago and is feeling the cold. Just as well the sun was out.

Thank you for visiting. While this card did not fall into place easily, it is always good to persist with a challenge.

Checking out everyone's creations and their interpretation of the amazing Stampin' Up! colours is always a treat and I am sure there will be inspiring Shaded Spruce projects on show.

I hope to see you again next week when members of the team share projects that hero Smoky Slate from the SU Neutrals Colour family.
