AWHT Colour Creations #47 So Saffron

So Saffron with Sweet Citrus and Daffodil Daydream

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a light yellow called So Saffron. So Saffron is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is soft colour. This colour is lovely when used for flowers, butterflies or bees, fruit (eg lemons) and could be indicative of light or sun rays.

So Saffron
is
produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends Combo; Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Awash in Beauty and Happy Forrest Friends DSPs; plus the Wreath of Blooms kit and Loose Daisy embellishments. There are also a couple of products on the Clearance Rack.

So Saffron card-stock, ink, Stampin' Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends have been used in these projects plus a range of non-So Saffron bits and pieces.

CARD 1:

I had in mind a completely different card for this Blog Hop, but seeing Cindy Schuster talk about the Sweet Citrus bundle a day or so ago, I determined to use this delightful and continuing stamp and dies.

A piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was white embossed using the citrus rind stamp and some small flower stamps with Versamark, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. The panel was water-coloured with So Saffron Classic Stampin’ ink using a Water Painter. It was water-coloured darker on the edges and lighter in the middle. If I was to create a similar card again I would ensure the background was lighter. When dry, the panel was die cut using one of the Deckled Rectangles dies and mounted on a slightly larger piece of So Saffron card-stock.

A white circular label was die cut using the retiring Layering Circles dies from Basic White card-stock, annd added to the water-coloured panel. Some Fluid 100 Paper was embossed and cut using the Sweet Citrus Hybrid Embossing folder and dies. The 4 pieces of citrus were coloured using a form of smooshing technique with So Saffron ink. When dry, 3 pieces were added over the label using either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Dimensionals.

Flowers were stamped in Petal Pink and Calypso Coral inks and leaves in the retiring Pear Pizazz ink on Basic White card-stock. The flowers were lightly coloured with the same inks using the fine Water Painter. The flowers and leaves were cut with the coordinating dies. They were then scattered and tucked under and around the lemons. A little splattering was added with a So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker so the exposed bit of the white label did not seem as stark.

A double White Crinkled Seam Binding bow has been tucked under the top piece of lemon. A sentiment from the Sweet Citrus stamps was white heat embossed onto So Saffron card-stock and fussy cut out. It was positioned with Mini Dimensionals. Adhesive-backed Milky Dots were added to flower centres and around the sentiment.

A Basic White card-inner was stamped with citrus flesh and the remaining water-coloured slice of citrus with a couple of leaves were adhered over the stamping. It was mounted on a slightly larger piece of So Saffron card-stock. A Basic White C6 Envelope was also stamped with citrus flesh and some remaining flowers and leaves were adhered over the stamping.

CARD 2:

I had recently seen Emma Goddard, during one of her Card & Cuppa sessions, create a card where she randomly stamped over the card front and then fully coloured the images & background with Stampin’ Blends. I thought I would give it a go using So Saffron Stampin’ Blends.

The larger daffodil stamp from the Daffodil Daydream set, was stamped randomly on a piece of Basic White card-stock in So Saffron Classic Stampin’ ink. A few butterflies from the same stamp set were added to fill in a few gaps.

The images were coloured with a number of Stampin’ Blends, ie So Saffron, Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent combos together with the light Evening Evergreen Blend and the Colour Lifter. The whole background was coloured with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.

The coloured panel was mounted directly to a Pool Party card base. A sentiment from the same stamp set was also stamped in So Saffron ink. It was trimmed down and the ends were finished using the Happy Labels Pick a Punch. A small piece of the White Frayed Ribbon was cut & frayed before being tucked under the label. Some Pale Papaya 2021-2023 In Colour Opal Rounds were added to give a little shimmer.

A Basic White card inner was stamped with the daffodils in So Saffron ink and a thin off-cut from the card front was added to the side. A C6 Basic White envelope also was stamped with the daffodils.

Thank you so much for dropping in. I so appreciate you.

AWHT Colour Creations #44 So Saffron

So Saffron with Welcoming Window.

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are continuing to work though all the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order and are currently at "S".

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a soft yellow called So Saffron. So Saffron is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a delightful light yellow. This colour is delightful when used with blues or greys. So Saffron goes well with numerous colour combinations including with Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride, as used in my card.

So Saffron is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends and Subtles Designer Series Papers as well as Sweet Talk and Flowering Fields DSPs. The card below has used So Saffron Classic Stampin' ink and card-stock, plus a range of other non-SS bits and pieces.

As I totally ran out of time I only created one more simple card to showcase So Saffron. Here tit is:

Wish a friend Happy Birthday with Welcoming Windows by Stampin' Up!.

As you can see, So Saffron is a delightful colour.

CARD 1:

The soon to retire Welcoming Window bundle is featured along with So Saffron. I do love this bundle and am sad to see it go. Having said that, I won't be getting rid of it from my stash (especially the dies) as windows can be handy to coordinate with certain designs.

Wish a friend Happy Birthday with Welcoming Windows by Stampin' Up!.

So Saffron is a great colour to indicate light or sun rays and so I started by blending some So Saffron Classic Stampin' ink on a piece of Basic White card-stock. The window frame, window shutters, hinges and the window sill from the Window Flowerbox dies were cut from Basic White card-stock. The window shutters had a little So Saffron blended over them to indicate some reflected light from inside.

Wish a friend Happy Birthday with Welcoming Windows by Stampin' Up!.

A Basic White card front was dry embossed with the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder. This was adhered directly to a So Saffron card base. As I was attempting to form the window I kept changing the way I adhered the hinges to the window shutters - I think I must have had a brain spasm. I Googled window shutters to check which way they should go and cut a 2nd set of shutters and hinges so I could start afresh.

Wish a friend Happy Birthday with Welcoming Windows by Stampin' Up!.

Plants for the window box were stamped in Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride Classic ink on Basic White card-stock. The Welcoming Windows flowering plants have coordinating dies, however, as my mind wasn't functioning properly, I fussy cut them out with one of the bunches also being cut in half. The centre flowering plant was popped up on Mini Dimensionals with the 2 halves of a plant was adhered on each side. A sentiment from the same stamp set was White heat embossed onto So Saffron card-stock.

Wish a friend Happy Birthday with Welcoming Windows by Stampin' Up!.

A piece of Basic White card-stock had some So Saffron ink blending along the outer edge and a birthday sentiment was stamped also in So Saffron ink. A Basic White C6 Envelope had some So Saffron ink blended over some edges. This is a simple and quick addition to coordinate the envelope to the card.

Wish a friend Happy Birthday with Welcoming Windows by Stampin' Up!.

Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase - #48 So Saffron

So Saffron with Floating and Fluttering

Hi. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 48th Colour Creations Showcase by members of the Art with Heart Team. Following this blog hop, we have 2 colours to complete our examination of the whole range of Stampin' Up! colours, except ... with the launch of the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue 5 new In Colours have also been launched - we will feature these gorgeous colours during June.

This week we are showcasing a soft colour, So Saffron. It is a pale yellow and is part of the Subtles Colour Family. While a light yellow, it still has enough body to stand on its own. So Saffron has been produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, Designer Series Paper including the Sand & Sea DSP and Seaside Shells.

As I mused over my project using So Saffron I was also aware that the current Mini Catalogue will be ending in a little while. It is so easy to be swept up in excitement for a new catalogue and forget the lovely products within continuing catalogues. When I first devoured the J-J Mini Catalogue and saw the Floating and Fluttering bundle I wanted to use it with the Floating Frame technique. So, to fulfil this desire I have combined the technique with a focus on So Saffron, and a few other colours. Here is my card:

The Floating Frame technique was all the rage a year or so ago - it is a lovely technique. The Floating & Fluttering bundle is perfect for this technique, with 3 butterflies and foliage all combined in a single stamp and can be die cut using coordinating dies. This stamp was used together with Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' ink to stamp multiple images. Stampin' Blends were used to colour these images, ie So Saffron, Mango Melody, Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Soft Sea Foam and Sahara Sand Blends Combos. Once coloured, the images were die cut using dies from the Fluttering dies.

The die cut butterflies & foliage were arranged all over a card-front sized piece of card-stock and a layer of GLAD Press n Seal was laid on top to hold all the pieces in place. A centre rectangle was die cut using a mid-sized die from the Stitched Rectangle set (they are so versatile). The die cut centre section is pictured both in the first and last photos. This is to be used as the focal panel for another card which has not been finished in time for the blog hop.

Dimensionals & Mini Dimensionals were added to the back of each of the die cut pieces and then the piece of Press and Seal was carefully turned over and positioned over a piece of Sea & Sand DSP featuring a water-coloured look with So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo. This piece was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Very Vanilla card-stock, which in turn was mounted on to the So Saffron card base.

Basic Pearl Jewels were coloured with the Light So Saffron Stampin' Blend to enable them to subtly blend with the colour scheme. I so love the way Stampin' Up! coordinates its products. You can always trust its coordination. The coloured pearls were added to some of the bigger spaces within the floating frame section.

A small frame was cut from Very Vanilla card-stock using 2 smaller dies from the Stitched Rectangle dies. The frame was popped in place within the floating frame with Dimensionals. As the Floating & Fluttering stamp set doesn't include any sentiments, a sentiment was chosen from the Pretty Perennials stamp set. This is a great stamp set that isn't continuing past the J-J Mini Catalogue. If you are interested, don't leave adding it to your order before it is too late. Both "Sending lots of" and "happy" were stamped in Crumb Cake ink on scraps of Very Vanilla card-stock. The "Sending lots of" was cut with one of the smallest stitched rectangle dies and adhered directly to the card background, while "happy" was fussy cut and popped up on Dimensionals.

The card inner has a piece of Very Vanilla card-stock mounted on another section of the same DSP from the Sea & Sand DSP packet, which in turn was mounted inside the card on the So Saffron card base. A coloured butterfly and a couple of other partial pieces that had been trimmed off the front frame were added to the inner panel. The C6 Very Vanilla envelope isn't pictured here, but butterflies were stamped on the corner of the envelope using Crumb Cake Classic Stampin ink.

Thank you so much for visiting Valley Inspirations with Andrea. I loved creating this card to share with you. The second card, using the centre piece (pictured above), is underway. I had hoped to show both cards but unexpected work consumed my creative time.

Stampin' Up's 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue was launched earlier this month. If you are in Australia, don't already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and would like your own copy of the Catalogue then let me know and I will be delighted to send one to you.

Catherine Proctor is our dedicated host of the Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase. If you haven't finished visiting all of the team's colour creations, you can visit/revisit Catherine's page at What Cathy Made, where she hosts the links to the participating blogs so you can find everyone's So Saffron creations. Checking out everyone's creations and their interpretation of the amazing Stampin' Up! colours is always a treat and I am sure there will be inspiring So Saffron projects on show.

I hope to see you again next week when members of the team share projects that hero Soft Sea Foam from the SU Subtles Colour family. I so love this colour so am looking forward to creating with it during the week.

Stay well, stay safe and be kind to yourself and others.
