Global Design Project #426

 EDITED POST

I love starting with a design or sketch for a card layout. When I saw the GDP#426 sketch my mind went to a simple fancy fold where the centre section stands out from the side panels. I used the fancy fold for a card created for the Colour Creations Blog Hop earlier this week. As I was creating that card a few of days ago (shown on my previous blog) I was unwell & kept making bloopers and thinking of other options - so I decided to create a similar, but different card with the GDP #426 sketch as the basis.  Here it is:

So surprised and really touched as this card has been selected as a winner. Wow

The GDP Team Members have created gorgeous cards for this sketch challenge and so have the other entrants. Go and check them out at the Global Design Project Blog. Just click here or on the GDP image at the top of this blog.

The Natures Sweetness suite is featured in this card. It is a gorgeous suite with divine stamps and coordinating dies as well as beautiful Speciality Designer Series Paper with gold touches on one side of each of the sheets. One of the designs of DSP was coloured with Calypso Coral and Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ inks using a Blending Brush.

The focal image and the background were stamped in Versamark ink and Gold heat embossed. The gorgeous floral spray was water-coloured with a fine Water Painter and Mossy Meadows, Gray Granite, Petal Pink and touches of Calypso Coral Classic inks. Some extra blending of Petal Pink and Calypso Coral was added to Basic White card-stock and liberally splattered with water. When dry, tiny flowers were die cut.

A C6 Basic White envelope was also gold embossed with an image from the Notes of Nature stamp set and coloured with Petal Pink and a Blending Brush.

Thanks so much for dropping in. I so appreciate you.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #34 Mossy Meadow

Mossy Meadow with Nature’s Sweetness and Global Design Project Entry

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea with 2 similar projects, one for the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop, where we are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. The second project was created as part of the Global Design Project #426 Challenge.

This is our first week back after the Christmas / New Years break. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep muted green called Mossy Meadow. Mossy Meadow is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a wonderful green that can coordinate with so many colours. This colour is lovely for leaves, trees, and anything with a deep muted green.

Mossy Meadow is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Soft Pastels; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as a number of other products.

Mossy Meadow ink has been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Mossy Meadow bits and pieces. I have not used a number of Mossy Meadow products but the design features luscious Mossy Meadow leaves as part of the focal image and I played with coordinating colours.

I created a simple fancy fold that has a pop out central panel to show the oh so gorgeous stamped image from the Lovely and Sweet bundle, which is part of the Nature’s Sweetness suite in the new January-April 2024 Mini Catalogue that is launching tomorrow. There are so many wonderful products in this catalogue. Do check it out. (I would be delighted to help you if you don’t have a demonstrator already).

Here is a different angle of the fancy fold, with the photo taken from the top. On a personal note, I need to apologise for the lack of details in this blog. I have been suffering with the dreaded COVID for much of the past week. While a bit better, I am still not doing well so have struggled with creating the last couple of days. I didn’t want to miss sharing with you so have limited time to provide lots of details. I will try to fill it out over the next few days.

I have used both stamp sets and coordinating dies from the Nature’s Sweetness Suite. The sentiment came from the Notes of Nature stamp set. Both the central image and sentiment were gold heat embossed on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.

The leaf & flower image was water-coloured with the fine Water Painter and Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral and Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ inks. Some extra water colour paper was blended with both Petal Pink and Calypso Coral inks then liberally splattered with water and die cut with tiny flowers from the Lovely & Sweet dies.

Some of the Nature’s Sweetness Speciality Designer Series Paper was used as background, with the back pieces coloured with Petal Pink & Calypso Coral inks and Blending Brushes. I think I should have sat the focal image & sentiment on a larger label as I think the card front is a tad busy - what do you think???

The final touch was a triple Linen Twine bow and some of the new Petal Pink Foiled Gems (from the Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems in the new Mini Catalogue).

A panel for writing a personal message was adhered to one back flap. It was simply Basic White card-stock decorated with a thin strip of the gold Speciality DSP and a few left over die cut water coloured flowers.

I didn’t have time to decorate a Basic White C6 envelope. Over the next day or 2, I will try to add an extra photo including an envelope decorated with a gold embossed image and perhaps some blending.

Thank you so much for dropping by on you way around the first Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2024. I know we are a smaller group but I am sure there will still be so much Mossy Meadow inspiration. Don’t miss it.

AWHT Colour Creations #30 Mossy Meadow

Mossy Meadow with Blessings of Home

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the first Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022. I hope you have had a great Christmas and New Year and are ready to make the most of 2022.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep muted olive green called Mossy Meadow. Mossy Meadow is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a delightful versatile green. This green which works beautifully with various colours including Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia and So  Saffron.

Mossy Meadow is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, Soft Pastels Assortment and the 2020-2022 Neutrals Designer Series Papers as well as Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper & For the Guys Kit. The card below has used Mossy Meadow card-stock, Classic Stampin' ink, Stampin' Blends and a design of the Beauty of the Earth DSP that showcases MM plus a range of other non-MM bits and pieces.

Here is my card showcasing Mossy Meadow:

Send floral Blessings of Home to someone you love

For the layout I decided to use the current Global Design Project Challenge which is to CASE the designer, ie Connie Collins. Here is her card.

Rather than cut strips for the background, I decided to paint water-colour stripes using Mossy Meadow Classic ink and the thick Water Painter on Shimmery White card-stock. Once dry the striped piece was passed through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Send floral Blessings of Home to someone you love

The background was cut from a piece Beauty of the Earth DSP that looked like a darker wash a Mossy Meadow. While you can't see the design, various tones of the green can be seen around the border. The DSP was adhered directly to a Mossy Meadow card-stock card base.

Send floral Blessings of Home to someone you love

The smaller floral spray from the Blessings of Home stamp set was stamped a few times in Momento Black ink onto Basic White card-stock. The images were coloured with Stampin' Blends, ie Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam, Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia and So Saffron Stampin' Blends combos. The floral sprays were fussy cut with my Snips and flowers and some leaves were individually cut out.

The white side of a doily from the Heart & Home Doilies pack was layered onto the water-coloured stripes. The coloured floral spray and extra flowers/leaves were arranged over the doily and adhered with either Tombow Multipurpose Glue or Dimensionals. A sentiment from the Blessings of Home stamp set was stamped in Momento ink onto Basic White card-stock. The lines of the sentiment were cut apart and only the first two lines were added to the card front with Dimensionals. This card front was added to the card base with Dimensionals.

Some linen thread was coloured with the Dark Mossy Meadow Blend. Some of the thread had been wrapped around the card front a couple of times over the doily and before the flowers were arranged, however, the sentiment and flowers cover all but the bow, so it would have been sufficient to just add the bow under the sentiment with a Glue Dot. The final touch was the addition of some delightful Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. They are in the new Jan-June Mini Catalogue and are soooo beautiful.

Send floral Blessings of Home to someone you love

The small flower spray was stamped on a piece of Basic White card-stock with Momento ink and a thin off-cut strip of the water-coloured stripes was added to one side of the card inner. A C6 Basic White envelope was also stamped with the floral spray in Momento ink. I do like to simply decorate both the card inner and the envelope to coordinate with the card front design.

Send floral Blessings of Home to someone you love

I have had a range of things happen of late so wasn't sure if I would have a chance to create for this Blog Hop, but ... I didn't want to miss it.  I really appreciated the inspiration of the Global Design Project Challenge #324.

Thank you so much for dropping by. I am so delighted that you spent time with me.

Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase - #29 Mossy Meadow

Mossy Meadow with Dove of Hope

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 29th 2020 Colour Creations Showcase by members of the Art with Heart Team - our last Showcase for the year.

This week we are focussing on a deep green called Mossy Meadow. It is classified as a Neutral as given it's depth and richness it is a colour that goes with so many other colours. Mossy Meadows can be found in Stampin' Up!s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends; numerous Designer Series Papers, including World of Good DSP; Memories & More Cards pack and ribbons/trim and the gorgeous Joy of Sharing all inclusive card kit. Mossy Meadow is a great colour!

I have a number of cards to share with you tonight. Two using the Dove of Hope bundle and two extras direct from the Joy of Sharing card kit. This is an all inclusive kit.

Mossy Meadow Dove of Hope and Wrapped in Christmas Stampin Up card with Brightly Gleaming DSP, Andrea Sargent, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Valley Inspirations, Adelaide foothills, South Australia

CARD 1: The format for my first card was inspired by Emma Goddard, a Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from the United Kingdom and she has been part of the Artisan for the last 3 years. As always, thanks for the inspiration Emma.

I started by painting Mossy Meadow stripes on a piece of Shimmery White card-stock using the mid-sized Water Painter. While I covered the card front with stripes, those at the top were fairly light. A little Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint was splattered over the card front. Once dry, I tied a piece of Vanilla ribbon from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack around the card front ending with a relaxed large bow.

Two circles were die cut using the Stitched Shapes dies, one from Whisper White card-stock and the other from Mossy Meadow card-stock. After the 2 circles were adhered together, they were popped up on Dimensionals

At this point I faffed around quite a bit, including die cutting and colouring trees cut using the In the Pines dies. I tried a range of colour combinations for water-colouring the trees. Nothing really worked. I then thought of using one of the doves from the Dove of Hope bundle, trying the die cut dove first. That dove was too big for placement on the circles. I stamped the mid-sized dove on Whisper White card-stock using Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' ink and then die cut it out using the coordinating Detailed Dove dies. The size was right. A little Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint was added to the wings and the dove was adhered at the body directly to the circles. Looking back I think it would have been good to add some subtle colouring on the dove - perhaps next time.

"Peace on earth" from the Wrapped in Christmas stamp set was stamped on Whisper White card-stock with Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' ink. The sentiment was trimmed down and popped in place with Dimensionals. A Mossy Meadow leaf sprig was die cut using the small sprig die from the Detailed Dove dies and it was adhered underneath the dove's beak.

The card front was adhered directly to a Mossy Meadow card-stock base. A number of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to finish the card.

The card inner was also painted with a number of Mossy Meadow stripes and another sentiment from the Wrapped In Christmas stamp set was added using Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' ink. The smaller dove was stamped on a small piece of Whisper White card-stock and fussy cut out. A C6 Whisper White envelope was stamped with the larger dove in Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' ink.

CARD 2: As I had die cut all the pieces for a Whisper White dove, I decided to use them for my second card. In thinking about the design for this 2nd card I decided to use a non-Christmas Designer Series Paper even though I was planning to create a Christmas card. (As I started to plan and write Christmas cards I realised that I didn't have enough so this week I made the most of prepping for tonight's blog hop to create another two Chrissy cards.) This second card is a Double Z-fold card.

The World of Good Speciality Designer Series Paper included two designs using Mossy Meadow, one of which had a watercolour effect of repeated world maps. I love the soft relaxed effect of this design. I cut a stripe of DSP centring the world continents across the 12 x 12" sheet. From there I cut a Brass Foil strip a little wider than the DSP so the brass mount would show. I also cut some Mossy Meadow card-stock a little wider again to enable the Brass Foil and the DSP to be mounted onto the Mossy Meadow card-stock.

The card base is half an A4 sheet of Thick Whisper White card-stock, cut lengthwise. The card base was scored in half at the mid-point and the front section was scored so that it could be folded back in half again. The Mossy Meadow piece was scored similarly. Both were pieces of card-stock were folded and burnished at the scoreline with a Bone Folder. The Mossy Meadow piece was turned around so the Z-fold is in reverse to the card base.

The largest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies was used to cut a Mossy Meadow card-stock circle. The next size stitched circle was used to die cut a circle out of the DSP. A circle from the Layered Circles dies was used to cut a Brass Foil circle.
The Foil circle was dry embossed using the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing folder. The 3 circles were adhered directly together.

The Whisper White card-stock and Vellum pieces were adhered together to form the dove. The body of the dove was popped up on Dimensionals. The small leaf spray die was used to cut a Brass Metallic spray of leaves, which was then adhered under the dove's beak.

Pieces of Whisper White card-stock were cut to fit on each of the three sections of the card base. Each was embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing folder and then were adhered directly to the card-base. Similarly, 3 pieces of Brass Foil were cut from the Brass Foil strip to fit on the 3 sections of the Mossy Meadow scored and burnished strip. The 3 pieces of Brass Foil also were embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing folder. The strip of DSP was also cut into 3 to fit each section of the Mossy Meadows strip. The embossed pieces of Brass Foil were adhered directly to the Mossy Meadows strip and then the pieces of DSP were adhered to the Brass Foil.

A Whisper White C6 envelope and a piece of Whisper white card-stock were stamped with the mid-sized dove using Mossy Meadows Classic Stampin' ink. The piece of card-stock was adhered to the back of the card in readiness to write a longer greeting.

The two Z-fold pieces were adhered together, being careful to only add Multipurpose Liquid Glue to half of the longer section of the top Z-fold. The card was folded and glue was added to the lower half section of the Mossy Meadow strip and it was adhered to the end half of the lower part of the card. The dove & layered circles piece was centred onto the top section of the Mossy Meadows strip. A number of Wonderful Gems were added as the final touch. They are gorgeous gems.

CARDS 3 & 4: The Joy of Christmas All Inclusive Card Kit is a lovely kit from the August-December Mini Catalogue and the good news is that it is currently discounted. It's only available till the end of December or until sold out. This kit is wonderful if you send a family photo at Christmas. I used the kit as part of a class. I didn't have a suitable photo so made up a couple of cards as shown in the kit. The class ladies loved them, commenting that the cards were really elegant.

The cards have a Mossy Meadow base. The pine cones and the poinsettias come in various sizes so there are more than enough to create whatever style card you choose - whether portrait, landscape or with or without a photo. Sorry, I ran out of time to create my own designs with the kit.

That's it for me for this blog and for the year.
