 CASE Stampin’ Up!s Colours of the Easter Joy DSP meets Simply Beautiful

I am so glad you have dropped by. You may have come from Peta Stephen as you take this week’s Blog Hop or perhaps arrived directly here; either way I am delighted you are here. At the end of my blog, I have linked to Rebecca Scurr so you can continue with the Blog Hop.

At CASEing the Catty we love to use the samples from the Stampin' Up! Catalogues and On-Line Exclusives as inspiration and each week we have a different theme to guide our CASEing. To CASE is to "Copy And Selectively Edit" or some say "Copy And Share Everything". This week we are CASE-ing the the colours of Easter Joy Designer Series Paper (ie Balmy Blue, Lemon Lolly, Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, Shy Shamrock & Crumb Cake) found on page 34 of the 2026 Stampin' Up! January-April Mini Catalogue.

The colours of the Designer Series Paper are pretty and fresh. I decided to create a card using the colours and not incorporate the DSP. Initial thoughts were to use Pretty in Pink & Peach Pie ink together on some flowers. I have a light pink rose that has different colours on the petal edges so decided to follow that idea. The stamens were coloured with Lemon Lolly. Shy Shamrock was delicately added to the leaves and Crumb Cake for the Gypsophila. A touch of Balmy Blue blending was added to the front label. I used two of the second largest label die from the Beautifully Celebrated dies to create a label that both sits on the back panel and opens to have a place to write a personal message.

Four of the larger flower dies were cut in Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper together with 2 of the smaller petal dies. Pretty in Pink was added to the 4 larger petals with a mid sized Water Painter and Peach Pie then was added to the edges. Lemon Lolly coloured the stamen pieces and Shy Shamrock was lightly added to 3 leaves. While the water-coloured pieces were left to dry, the remainder of the card was prepared.

I love the Simply Beautiful bundle - both the stamped images and die cut shapes. Most of the design was die cut apart from the little leaf spray being stamped in White Craft Ink on the plain Crumb Cake front panel. The label dies come from the coordinating Beautifully Celebrated dies. They are part of the same Lovely & Beautiful Suite.

The card base is Crumb Cake card-stock and the background DSP is from the Lovely Blossoms DSP. One of the white labels was centred on the inner DSP panel and the water-coloured pieces are adhered together and arranged on the top panel. A score line was added across the top curve and burnished. The tiny top section was adhered to the bottom label, creating a fold that allowed the top label to lift up to reveal the writing panel.

A triple Linen Twine bow was tucked under the larger flowers petals. A sentiment was white heat embossed onto Crumb Cake, fussy cut out and popped up on Dimensionals on the top label. The final touch some Pearls of Beauty were sprinkled around. Something else was needed so White Craft ink was splattered over the card.

As referenced, the card inner is revealed but lifting the top label and opening the half card front. The inner panel had a little Crumb Cake stamping. This Joy Fold card is a simple fun fold that had a great effect. A C6 Basic White envelope was similarly stamped.

I adore water-colouring and so had fun creating this Joy Fold card to share with you. I quite like combining different colouring techniques as seen here with a little Balmy Blue blending. Thank you so much for spending time here with me. I am delighted you called by.

Balmy Blue with Iconic Imagery +

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a light blue called Balmy Blue. Balmy Blue is one of the  Subtles Colour Family and is a delightful colour that can coordinate with so many colours. It would be wonderful for sky, water, snowflakes, cards for babies, flowers and so much more.

Balmy Blue is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Watercolor Pencils Asst 2; Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Mediterranean Blooms, Lily Pond Lane, Full of Life, Meandering Meadows, Countryside Inn DSPs; Say Something, Labels & Layers, Something for Everything, Fully Flowering Mix & Match Ephemera Packs; Sunny Sprigs Mix & Match Cards & Envelopes; Frog & Friends Kit; Bakers Twine Three Color Pack; Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots and The Best Destination Kit. That is quite a list of products with this gorgeous colour.

My card has used Balmy Blue in the form of Balmy Blue Classic ink, card-stock, Stampin’ Write Marker, twine from the Bakers Twine Three Color Pack and Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots.

Balmy Blue is the key colour with Pool Party, Fresh Freesia, Lost Lagoon and Misty Moonlight plus touches of Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy. 

I recently saw Susan Wong of The Crafty Carrot Co fame and as a past Stampin’ Up! Artisan, demonstrate this waterfall card and she inspired me to give it a go, however, having just received my pre-order with the Iconic Imagery bundle I wanted to use it instead and create a Christmas card. This is my first Christmas card for 2024 - I know, but I need to start early to be able to create enough to send to all on my Christmas Card List.

The background was stamped in Versamark ink with the snowflake from the Iconic Imagery bundle. The snowflake was white heat embossed and then Balmy Blue Classic ink was blended over the edges with a Blending Brush. The effect is due to the emboss resist process. I love it. The word “Celebrate” from the same stamp set was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink with a light Balmy Blue blending over. The word was fussy cut and added to the card front with Mini Dimensionals. I have used a number of other stamp sets as the flip panels were decorated - more details below.

The flip panels were die cut using a Countryside Corner die and Basic White card-stock before being cut in half with a Stampin’ Trimmer. The first flip panel was partially blended with Balmy Blue over a white heat embossed snowflake. A sentiment from the same stamp set was white heat embossed on Balmy Blue card-stock. The second flip panel was blended with Pool Party ink then decorated with the small bell from the Golden Greenery bundle (another pre-order of new On-Line Exclusives that will be available to all in July). The bell was stamped in Coastal Cabana ink directly onto the flip panel. Another bell was silver heat embossed onto Basic White card-stock, die cut with a coordinating die from the Golden Greenery dies. A little bow of Balmy Blue Bakers Twine from the Bakers Twine Three Color Pack was added with a Glue Dot.

The third flip panel was blended with Fresh Freesia ink then decorated with presents from the Labeled with Love stamp set - the small presents stamped in Coastal Cabana ink and the larger present with Balmy Blue ink and silver heat embossing.

The fourth flip panel had some blending with Lost Lagoon ink. The leaves were stamped in Lost Lagoon ink then silver heat embossed with the line image - both stamps from the Iconic Imagery set. The berries were stamped in Fresh Freesia and the line image was silver heat embossed.

The fifth panel was blended with Misty Moonlight ink then stamped with trees in Night of Navy ink using a stamp from the Encircled in Nature set. The silver heat embossed star came from the Iconic Imagery star stamp. A tiny Silver Foil die cut star used a die also from the Iconic Imagery dies. 

The end of the pull tab was punched using the Sparkling Snowflake punch.

The card front was adhered to a Balmy Blue card-stock base. A splattering of Balmy Blue was added with a Stampin’ Write Marker to the card front and flip panels. The final touches: a Silver Edged Sheer White Ribbon was tied around the cut out snowflake, a few Balmy Blue Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots were scattered near the sentiment and a light splattering of Wink of Stella added a gentle little shimmer.  The bow indicates the pull tab to flip the panels.

The Basic White card inner was simply stamped with Balmy Blue snowflakes and a little Balmy Blue blending was added to the RHS and base. Similarly, a Basic White C6 Envelope was also stamped with snowflakes and a little blending.

Balmy Blue with Textured Floral as a Slim-line Card

Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. We started with the newly introduced colours and this week we commence showcasing Stampin’ Up!s continuing colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a soft pale blue called Balmy Blue. I love it. Balmy Blue is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a delightful light blue. This colour is so lovely when used for sky, water, baby projects, soft backgrounds, flowers and I love using it at Christmas time for snow scenes. It coordinates well with other blues or other subtle colours (as used in my card) and so many other combinations. 

Balmy Blue is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Watercolor Pencils, Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Les Shoppes and Countryside Inn DSPs; plus Textured Shimmer Paper, Robot Buddies Kids Card Kit and Christmas Whimsy Card Kit; Balmy Blue & White Double Stitched Ribbon and the Variegated Ribbon; as well as Iridescent Pastel Gems and Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins.

Balmy Blue card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker,  Balmy Blue/White Variegated Ribbon and Iridescent Pastel Gems have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Balmy Blue bits and pieces.

Recently, I was checking out the Stampin’ Up! Clearance Rack and was reminded that the Slim Card dies were available at an amazing price. I decided to create a project using these dies to affirm their availability. My project is also featuring the delightful Textured Floral bundle from the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue.

I stamped out a range of flowers & leaves on Basic White card-stock using the Textured Floral stamp set with Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, Bubble Bath, Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Lost Lagoon Classic Stampin’ inks. Each image was inked up in the light ink first then touches of the coordinating second colour was added with a Sponge Dauber before stamping onto the card-stock. This gives subtle life and interest to the images.

The leaves and flowers were all cut with the coordinating dies from the Textured Floral dies. A number of leafy sprigs were die cut from Basic White card-stock. One of the Slim Card dies was used to cut out the mosaic style design from Balmy Blue card-stock. Some of the cut out tiles were retained. I actually remembered and looked for my Adhesive Sheets - but they were no-where to be found. Oh no. It will be on my next Stampin’ Up! order as it makes adhering down fine die-cutting so much easier.

I decided to use the smooshing technique to add some colour to the background. As my water-colour paper wasn’t long enough I used Thick Basic White card-stock (as it would respond better to water than the finer Basic White card-stock). I used my Stampin’ Write Markers and applied Balmy Blue with touches of Azure Afternoon to a plastic bag (it was actually a bag that had held a Stampin’ Up! ribbon combo - its always good to re-purpose & re-use). Some water was misted over the scribbled ink using a Stampin’ Mister. I used a cellophane bag (that had been packaging for a set of SU dies) to “smoosh” into the ink and then to smoosh it onto the background panel. Once partially coloured, the panel was left to dry before a section of the die cut slim card detailed panel was adhered in place.

A few of the die cut “tiles” were stacked one-on-top-of-the-other and adhered back into a few of the tile cut outs to vary the look & dimension of the die cut panel. The flowers & leaves were arranged and adhered with a mix of Glue Dots, Dimensionals & Multipurpose Liquid Glue. A sentiment from the same stamp set was heat embossed onto Balmy Blue card-stock using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder, the Embossing Addition Tool Kit and a Heat Tool. Some Balmy Blue/\White Variegated ribbon was cut into a number of pieces lengthwise and 2 blue pieces were tied into a bow that was tucked under the large flower. A few Iridescent Pastel Gems were scattered around the sentiment as the final shimmery touch.

A few remaining flowers and leaves were arranged onto the Basic White card inner and a white slim-line envelope to bring some continuity from the card front’s design.

#6 Balmy Blue with Wild & Sweet and Bamboo Beauty

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a soft blue called Balmy Blue. One of my favourite SU colours. Balmy Blue is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a delightful blue. This colour is gorgeous on its own or can be combined with so many other colour combos. It is great with other subtle colours.

Balmy Blue is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, Watercolour Pencils, Subtles Designer Series Paper, Awash in Beauty DSP, Robot Buddies Kids Card Kit, For Everything Fancy Sequins, Christmas Whimsy Card Kit, Solid Faceted Gems and Abstract Beauty Ephemera Pack, SDSP and Cards & Envelopes . The cards below have used Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' ink (re-inker), Card-stock and a Stampin’ Blends plus a range of other non-PP bits and pieces.

I had planned to create 2 cards, but only 1 is finished to showcase Balmy Blue. Here it is:

I had decided to use a water-colour wash on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper as background for a panda from the Wild & Sweet stamp set. I love the panda as it reminds me of the 2 pandas we have in the Adelaide Zoo - Wang Wang and Funi. After designing this card I saw Stesha Bloodhart's card where she used bamboo in the background. It was such a great idea so I needed to add some bamboo too.

The water-coloured background was stamped with bamboo from the Bamboo Beauty stamp set in Gray Granite Classic Stampin' ink. This panel was mounted on Balmy Blue card-stock before being mounted to the Thick Basic White card base. In real life the creamy tinge of the water-colour paper isn't as noticeable.

The lazy panda image was stamped on basic White card-stock with Momento Black ink. It was stamped a couple of times to get a good black. The image was coloured with Stampin' Blends before being fussy cut out. I wanted the Balmy Blue, reminiscent of the sky, to show behind the panda. The panda's black areas were further defined with Black Stampin' Blends and the white areas had some Balmy Blue Blends added as shading to bring some Balmy Blue into the focal image. As I was planning to tie the colours of the 2nd card in to this card I included some Fresh Freesia and Rich Razzleberry with the Crumb Cake Blends on the tree and leaves. (Sorry there is no second card.)

A large label was die cut in Vellum using the Scalloped Contour dies. The label was embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder (I love embossing Vellum). Some Dimensionals popped up the focal image on the Vellum. A sentiment from the Bamboo Beauty stamp set was also stamped in Momento before being die cut with a Beautiful Shapes die. A double Linen Twine bow was tucked under the sentiment and a few Fine Sparkle Adhesive-backed Gems were added for a little bit of sparkle.

A piece of Basic White card-stock was stamped with the bamboo in Gray Granite ink before being adhered to a slightly larger piece of Balmy Blue card-stock.  one of Stampin' Up!s Basic White C6 Envelope was also stamped with the bamboo stamps in Gray Granite ink.
