Early Espresso with Abigail Rose Fancy Fold

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. 

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep brown called Early Espresso. Early Espresso is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a dark chocolate colour. This colour is lovely when used for trees, chocolate or coffee and so much more. It is a great colour for cards for fellas, going brilliantly with Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and the like. It also goes with pinks, blues like Tahitian Tide and other neutrals such as Crumb Cake and is great with Gold. 

Early Espresso is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Water-colour Pencils; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as Storybook Gnomes, Rustic Harvest, Santa Express, Abigail Rose, He's The Man and Painted Christmas DSPs; plus Faux Suede Trim, Festive Felt; Abigail Rose File Folders, Cozy & Bright Card Kit, and Santa Express Memories & More Cards & Envelopes. 

To feature Early Espresso I decided to create a fancy fold and use the delightful Abigail Rose DSP, colouring some of the flowers with Stampin' Blends. Here is the card standing open:

I am not sure of the name of this fold as I have only seen it called a Vertical Freestanding Fun Fold (or Fancy Fold). I'm not sure if it has another name but do love the fold. It was not a difficult fold and I love the impact. I watched Emma Goddard create this fold during one of her recent (paid) classes - as always thanks for the inspiration Emma. I believe Susan Campfield, a US Demonstrator, has a uTube where she created this fold. I haven't watched the video but other of her videos are easy to follow. Here is a photo of the card looking down from the top.

Three pieces of Early Espresso card-stock were cut and scored. Two different designs of the Abigail Rose DSP were trimmed to fit appropriate panels. I used the Early Espresso/Very Vanilla/Crumb Cake tulip design for panels facing forward and the Memorandum lined design for the other panels to be covered with DSP.

My front panel of the card has an embossed Very Vanilla card-stock panel that is slightly smaller than the Early Espresso front panel. The Very Vanilla piece was embossed with one of my favourite Embossing Folders - the Timeworn Type 3D EF. As I was photographing the card, I wondered if I should have added some Petal Pink or Calypso Coral splatters - what do you think?

Two of the circular Stylish Shapes Dies were used to cut a ring from a Rose Gold sheet of the Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Speciality Paper. This was added to the card front with Mini Dimensionals. Tulips and a few leaves from the Tulip design of the DSP were coloured with Stampin' Blends, ie Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, So Saffron & Old Olive combos. Once coloured, they were fussy cut with Paper Snips.

As I was arranging the tulips I thought something else was needed (partly because I had "lost" most of the coloured leaves), so I die cut the wreath from the Natural Prints dies in Basic White card-stock. This is such a gorgeous wreath. It was coloured with Mint Macaron and Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin' inks and a Blending Brush. The coloured wreath was cut into sections that could be tucked under flowers at different places. All the pieces were arranged and adhered with either Glue Dots, Dimensionals or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

A sentiment from the Cottage Rose stamp set was white heat embossed using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. A piece of Gold Simply Elegant Trim was coloured with a Dark Calypso Coral Blend to tied it in with the Rose Gold metallic ring. A double bow was added with Glue Dots. Some Petal Pink Elegant Faceted Gems gave touches of shimmer.

Some Very Vanilla card-stock was stamped with a sentiment and leaves from the Cottage Rose stamp set in Early Expresso ink. This panel was adhered to the centre back panel of the card. Some extra coloured tulips were adhered over some of the stamping. A Very Vanilla C6 envelope was stamped with the smaller flower in Early Expresso ink.

Heart of Christmas Blog Hop: Window Wishes Luminary Easel Card

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the next Art with Heart Team Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for 2022. 

So glad you are joining us for our ninth 2022 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. My card uses the Window Wishes bundle and the Hope & Peace stamp set for the sentiments. Here is my card:

 

I had yet to ink the Window Wishes stamp set so I decided to use this bundle for my card this week. As my thinking developed, I thought about creating a luminary card and determined to create it as an easel card. To do this a Thick Basic White piece of card-stock was scored and burnished and 2 other panels of Basic White card-stock were prepared for the card front. One  panel was centred over the other card front and the window die from the coordinating Window dies was used to cut a window shaped hole in the same place in both pieces. The same die was used to cut a window hole in the card base.

The top panel was embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder and the window frame was embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder. Some Snowflake Speciality Vellum was laid between the 2 top panels and the window die cut pieces layered on top.

The wreath stamp from the Window Wishes stamp set was stamped in Parakeet Party Classic Stampin' ink with touches of Evening Evergreen ink applied with a Sponge Dauber. It was die cut with the coordinating die and a also bow was die cut from Cherry Cobbler card-stock. The finer pine frond and pinecone large die from the Christmas Pinecone dies was used with Basic White card-stock. The pine fronds were coloured with a mix of Parakeet Party and Evening Evergreen inks using Stampin' Up!s delightful Blending Brushes. The pinecones were coloured with Crumb Cake ink. The pieces were carefully separated using my Paper Snips and then arranged at the base of the window as if it was siting in a window box. The wreath and bow were adhered together and then placed behind the Speciality Vellum.

A piece of Sweet Sorbet Metallic Woven Ribbon was coloured with a Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend and then it was tied into a triple loop bow before being attached with Glue Dots. Some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels were also coloured with the Cherry Cobbler Blend and a few were sprinkled amongst the pine fronds. I had hoped to stamp and colour a couple of little birds but time was short so three Brushed Brass Butterflies were added. 

Inside the card a half panel of Basic White Brickwork embossed card-stock was adhered near the bottom. Three thin strips of Basic White card-stock were adhered one on top of the inner embossed panel and an extra strip was Timber 3D embossed  before being adhered on top. These layers will act as a stopper to allow the decorated front panel to stand like and easel. A rectangle remaining from the window die cuts was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink with a sentiment from the Hope & Peace stamp set. The label was centred on the inner embossed panel and popped up on Dimensionals. Three extra coloured Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels finished this panel.

As any personal message written on the top section of the card inner could be seen through the Vellum window pane, the back panel of the card (that would be the bottom when the card forms an easel) was prepared for a personal message to be written. A panel of Basic White card-stock was stamped with the wreath stamp and a Cherry Cobbler card-stock bow added on top. The sentiment "Merry Christmas" was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink. A C6 Basic White envelope was also stamped with the wreath and the sentiment.

The only thing left to do is show a picture of the Window Wishes Luminary Easel card with a little battery tea light glowing through the window. Thank you so much for dropping in.

Daffodil Delight with Daffodil Dies

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. 

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright yellow called Daffodil Delight. Daffodil Delight is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a happy clear yellow. This colour is lovely when used for flowers (including but not limited to daffodils) and so much more. It goes with different greens (including Pear Pizzazz) and with Pool Party, etc. It is also great with Gold. 

Daffodil Delight is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, Classic spots & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Water-colour Pencils; Stampin' Blends; Soft Pastels, Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Hues of Happiness & Design a Daydream DSPs; plus Light the Candles & Kindness Card Kits; Glossy Dots Assortment; and Today is the Day Memories & More Card Pack. 

Here is my card showcasing Daffodil Delight:

As I was thinking about and designing this card I also watched Cindy Schuster of The Crafty Carrot Co during their free August series of Facebook Lives. Cindy designed a gorgeous card with the layout shown below. I so loved her card and have CASEd her layout while using completely different products and colours. The Crafty Carrot Co gals are all brilliant and share so many tips and tricks as well as delightful ways to use Stampin' Up! products.

Seeing some daffodils when walking with Gemma (my fur family), I decided to use the obvious choice of daffodils to show the bright and happy Daffodil Delight. To apply ink to paper with a different method than used when previously creating with the Daffodil dies, I swiped my Daffodil Delight Classic ink pad over some Shimmery White card-stock. The coloured panel was sprinkled with water to add extra texture. Another piece of Shimmery White card-stock was coloured with Pear Pizzazz ink in the same way. Once the panels were dry, the various dies were used to create the bud, full daffodil and side-view daffodil plus coordinating leaves and stems. A small round label was cut from Basic White card-stock using the Labels Aglow dies in readiness for the sentiment.

A large circle die from the Stylish Shapes dies was used to cut a circular hole from a spare piece of card-stock. This was used as a mask over a piece of Shimmery White card-stock and Pool Party Classic ink was blended through the hole using Stampin' Up!s amazing Blending Brush. The panel was then passed through the gorgeous Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder before being splattered using a Pear Pizzazz Marker. Two thin strips of the Daffodil Delight coloured card-stock were adhered to each side of the embossed panel and then adhered directly to a Basic White Thick card-stock card base.

One of the special aspects of Cindy's creation was the large circle of layered torn coloured card-stock. It had a delightful scenic feel. While I added a blended circle rather than Cindy's torn layered scene I did add a couple of torn layers of Vellum card-stock. The daffodil and leaf pieces were arranged using either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Dimensionals. As I need some specific birthday sentiments, a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink onto the smaller die cut label. A little Pool Party ink was blended over the edges of the label.

A bow was tied with sliced (in half) White Glittered Organdy Ribbon and Gold Simply Elegant Trim and tucked between the daffodils and the label. A few Brushed Brass Butterflies were scattered around and a splattering of Wink Of Stella add a little shimmer.

Left over leaf/stem and bud were adhered to a Basic White card inner plus a couple of thin strips of the Daffodil Delight coloured paper were added on each side. A C6 Basic White envelope was stamped on one edge with daffodils in Daffodil Delight ink.

Heart of Christmas Blog Hop: Nature’s Prints

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the eighth Art with Heart Team Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for 2022. 

I am so glad you are joining us for our this 2022 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. I had fun creating a fancy fold card using both Christmas and non Christmas products. Here is my card:

It has been raining for much of the day today so it has been impossible to take my photos in outside light. This encouraged me to try out my light box. I’m not sure about the black background but will need to make time to play with backgrounds and camera angles etc. Hopefully the photo backgrounds will improve quickly.

Here is a look at the card closed. The background and bottom section of the card inner were created with embossed panels using Basic White card-stock, the Pine EF from the Wintry Embossing Folders and my Cut and Emboss machine. The embossed panels were splattered with Soft Succulent ink from a Stampin’ Write Marker before being mounded onto a slightly larger piece of Lights Aglow Speciality Designer Series Paper. The beauty of this SDSP is not really appreciated with such a small mount so I would probably just use Evening Evergreen card-stock if I was to repeat this card.

 

The wreath die from the Natural Prints dies was used to cut 4 wreaths, 2 from Shimmery White card-stock and 2 from Thick Basic White card-stock. A number of little leaves and leaf twigs were also die cut from Shimmery White card-stock. The Shimmery White wreaths were water-coloured with either Evening Evergreen or Soft Succulent Classic Stampin’ ink and a Water Painter. The same inks were used for the smaller leaf die cuts plus a little Crumb Cake ink was added to the little leaves. The flower from the Natures Prints stamp set was white heat embossed a number of times onto Shimmery White card-stock using Versamark, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. The flowers were water-coloured with Cherry Cobbler ink.

The 2 white card-stock wreaths were adhered together and then to the back of the Evening Evergreen wreath. The lighter Soft Succulent wreath was adhered over the darker wreath ensuring it was turned 180 degrees so part of the wreath below showed through. Then the lower section of the wreath was adhered to the lower section of the background so that when the card front is bent the top section of the wreath would stand up.

A sentiment from the Hope & Peace stamp set was white heat embossed on Evening Evergreen card-stock and then fussy cut. A sentiment from the Brightest Glow stamp set was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink on Basic White card-stock before being die cut with a label from the Seasons Labels dies. This label was popped up on Dimensionals and a flower with some leaves were tucked under one side of the label. 

A bow was tied with Gold &Vanilla Satin-edged ribbon and Gold Simply Elegant Trim and added to the wreath with Glue Dots. Flowers and little leaves were arranged and some In Colour Opal Rounds were sprinkled around. A couple of remaining leaf twigs were added to a C6 Basic White Envelope and the last twig was adhered to the area for a personal message.

Crushed Curry with Honeybee Home

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. 

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep yellow called Crushed Curry. Crushed Curry is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a muted colour. This colour is lovely for flowers, honey bees, sunsets plus so much more. It is delightful with greys, greens  and can complement purples (being on the opposite side of the colour wheel). It can harmonise with Gold. 

Crushed Curry is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Water-colour Pencils; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as He's the Man, Tea Boutique, Butterfly Kisses, Rustic Harvest, Rings of Love and Celebrate Everything DSPs; plus The Best Remedy Kit, Fun Flowers Resin Shapes; and Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes. 

Here is my card to hero Crushed Curry:

Crushed Curry led me to think of sunshine, sunflowers, daisies, bees and honey etc, etc. I had a number of ideas but eventually settled on honey bees and a background watercolour wash with Hive 3D embossing and hexagon die cuts.

I started by water-colouring a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with Crushed Curry Classic ink using a wide-brushed Water Painter. The water-coloured panel was embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. It is a beautiful EF and can be used showing either side of the embossed panel. The coloured embossed panel was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Crushed Curry Card-stock before being affixed to a Basic White card base.

Hexagon's were cut from Basic White card-stock using the Beautiful Shapes dies. Images from the Honeybee Home stamp set were partially stamped onto the white hexagons, using the marker to stamp technique. Gorgeous Grape & Old Olive Stampin' Write markers were used. Momento Tuxedo Black ink was used to stamp the bees. The images were all coloured using pencils from both Watercolor Pencil sets, ie Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Gorgeous Grape, Rich Razzelberry, Basic Black and White. They are lovely pencils to use either just by themselves (as done here) or together with a Blender Pen or Water Painter.

A sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped onto Crushed Curry card-stock using Versamark ink and heat embossed with White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. A bow of White Crinkled Seam Binding and some gold Simply Elegant Trim was tucked under the fussy cut sentiment and some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels were sprinkled around to add a little sparkle.

A Basic White card inner was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Crushed Curry card-stock with a thin left over strip of the embossed water-coloured paper added to the right side. An extra bee also was added. A Basic White C6 Envelope was stamped with the little floral stamp in Crushed Curry ink. (Please excuse the different background for the photo above. It was starting to rain so I dashed inside forgetting that I had missed taking a photo of the card inner.)
