AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #18 Coastal Cabana

Coastal Cabana with Sea Turtle +

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a rich deep berry colour called Coastal Cabana. Coastal Cabana is one of the Brights Colour Family and is a bright-ish aqua. As the name suggests, this colour is lovely for sea themes and could be used for so many other things.

Coastal Cabana is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, spots re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2; Soft Pastels, Brights Designer Series Paper as well as the Confetti Birthday Kit, Light the Candle Card Kit and Ombré Matt Decorative Dots.

Coastal Cabana card-stock, ink and Stampin’ Write Marker have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-
Coastal Cabana bits and pieces.

The Sea Turtles stamp set arrived in my last Stampin’ Up! order and it seemed a brilliant combination to pair it with Coastal Cabana. I recently saw a card by Kim Gibbons Fee, a UK Demonstrator and previous Stampin’ Up! Artisan, where Kim used the bubble technique. I hadn’t played with this technique for ages and thought it would be fun to try it in Coastal Cabana. I had forgotten how important it was to keep the amount of water to a minimum and found I needed to keep adding many drops of re-inker and then more & more. I am disappointed the fun bubble effect doesn’t really show in the photos. It is evident in real life but still rather delicate.

I started with a small bowl, partially filled with water. A little dishwashing liquid was added to the bowl and then numerous drops of Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin’ re-inker. I put an end of a straw into the water and blew till bubbles built up and over the top of the bowl. The bubbles were scooped off onto a piece of Basic White card-stock. Initially, there was no colour effect, so I added more, & more, & more drops of ink. Bubbles were blown and scooped over 2 pieces of Basic White card-stock. As mentioned, in the end the bubble effect was still delicate but I thought it would be OK. Looking back now I would have liked it a bit darker so the effect was more evident.

A little diluted Crumb Cake ink was applied with the wide brush Water Painter to indicate a sandy beach. When the front panel had dried thoroughly a little Embossing Paste was applied with a Palette Knife to the area where sea & sand converge. This was left to dry too.

The small turtle from the Sea Turtle stamp set was stamped onto Basic White card-stock in Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ ink. The stamp was turned over on the block and then stamped over the turtle image in second generation Coastal Cabana Classic ink. They are so cute in real life.  Some extra colours, depth and highlights were added to give the turtles a little more dimension. Smoky Slate, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive Blends combos were used and then the White Watercolor Pencil (Assortment 1) was used to had highlights.

The star fish from the Sea Turtle stamp set were stamped in Crumb Cake ink and then over stamped in second generation Petal Pink ink using the back of the stamp. The sea dollars were stamped in Crumb Cake ink and filled in with second generation stamping. The turtles, star fish and the sea dollars were all fussy cut.

This card is a simple fun-fold card, that is when the front flap opens (as above), there is another flap that can open to the right. This was created with a Pool Party card base with a smaller Coastal Cabana card base adhered inside the Pool Party card to the back panel, but with the inner card opening to the right. I have used the top of this flap for a turtle scene. They are swimming in the sea. A panel of bubble coloured card-stock was cut with a Deckled Rectangle die, then mounted on a slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock before being mounted onto the top Coastal Cabana panel. Part of a larger filigree sea plant from the Beauty of the Deep stamps was white heat embossed in the lower left corner. (Only little bits can be seen behind the turtle & plants - but at least I know it’s there - wink).

The Beauty of the Sea bundle was used to create sea plants (one being heat embossed with white on Vellum & the other die cut and lightly inked with a Blending Brush) and the anchor (silver embossed on Vellum). Some Linen Thread was tied to the anchor and frayed.

The card front was created with the bubble technique panel adhered to a slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock. A circular Stylish Shape die cut a hole through the card front and also through the Pool Party panel so the scene underneath can be partially seen. The card front was positioned with Dimensionals. A little turtle was added near the hole and some white embossed sea plant was tucked under the card front with it showing over the scene below. A sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set was white heat embossed onto Pool Party card-stock. It was positioned with Mini Dimensionals, with a couple of star fish tucked underneath with some frayed twine (a strand of the Silver Threaded Twine that was sitting on my work station). A few Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls were scattered near the sentiment. I love these Pearls.

The inner panel for writing the personal message is a piece of Basic White card-stock with a couple of star fish and sea dollar, a sentiment from the Seaside Bay stamp set and an extra Flat Adhesive-backed Pearl. The snippets of bubble coloured card-stock seen on the back panel were left over from die cutting a panel with a Deckled Rectangle die.

A C6 Basic White envelope was stamped in Coastal Cabana ink with one of the sea plant stamps from the Beauty of the Sea stamp set.

Thank you for calling in to check out my Coastal Cabana card. I do appreciate you spending time with me.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #14 Blueberry Bushel

Blueberry Bushel with Seaside Bay & Beauty of the Deep, plus a Christmas Cottage Wreath

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.
This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a junior blue colour called Blueberry Bushel. Blueberry Bushel is one of the Regals Colour Family and is a rich mid blue. This colour was previously an In Colour and has been returned to the Stampin’ Up! colour range this year.

Blueberry Bushel is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as Stargazing, Glorious Gingham, Bright & Beautiful DSPs; Bright & Beautiful Memories & More Card Pack and Cards & Envelopes, plus Tinsel Gems Four Pack and Confetti Card Kit.

Blueberry Bushel card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker, Stampin’ Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends combo have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Blueberry Bushel bits and pieces.

When thinking of Blueberry Bushel, the first thing I thought of was berries but then blue sea came to mind. I’d just heard of a friend who had recently hurt her shoulder and is out of action for a month. She loves sea themed cards so that decided my Blueberry Bushel project would be a sea theme. I’d created a spanner fun fold recently and thought it could work well with the sea theme.

A sea plant from the Beauty of the Deep stamp set was white heat embossed onto Basic White card-stock. The background panel was ombré blended using Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel and some Night of Navy Classic Stampin inks. I love the way the white embossed image resisted the application of inks - its a beautiful effect - although looking at the photo - only a little is easily seen. A little bit of White Embossing Paste was applied with a spatula on the area between sand and sea to be reminiscent of white sea foam. Some water droplets were sprinkled over the blending to add extra interest and a splattering of White Craft ink and Light Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Blend. The background panel was cut into 3 and all pieces were mounted onto Basic White card-stock. In turn, they were mounted onto a Blueberry Bushel card base that had been cut as required for a spanner card. An extra piece of card-stock was blended for the strip that spanned the card.

Sea plants from Beauty of the Deep stamp set and from Botanical Layers stamp set were white heat embossed on Vellum card-stock using Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder, the Embossing Additions kit and a Heat Tool. Both fish stamps were stamped in either Petal Pink or Calypso Coral inks on Basic White card-stock. Shells from Seaside Bay stamp set were stamped in Crumb Cake ink and the large bird from Seaside Bay stamps was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink. Extra colouring was added with Stampin’ Blends Combos. Coordinating dies from Beauty of the Deep & Seaside Bay cut out images, although I also did some fussy cutting of the Botanical Layers plant and detailing some bits here and there. Coral (from the Beauty of the Deep dies) was die cut from Basic White card-stock and very lightly coloured with Petal Pink ink.

As you can see when you lift the spanner section, the centre part of the card front is seperate. It was designed to show hidden fish swimming in the deep around the coral and shells can be seen more clearly.

All the images were arranged and adhered with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or a few Dimensionals. The spanner strip was adhered to both edge panels with Liquid Glue. A sentiment from the Marvellous Nature stamp set was white heat embossed onto Blueberry Bushel card-stock. It was fussy cut and adhered with Mini Dimensionals. A number of Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls add a little shimmer both on the spanner section and hidden under on the centre panel. But then when you lift up the centre panel …

… The scene changes on the inside of the card to a beach scene with small shells and the larger Oyster Shell stamped in Crumb Cake ink. The Oyster shell was coloured on the inside with White Craft ink and Wink of Stella. A personal message is to be written on the centre panel. A C6 Basic White Envelope was stamped with the longer sea plant from the Beauty of the Deep stamps.

Here is a different angle of the Blueberry Bushel Seaside Bay Spanner card.

Christmas Card - A monochromatic Cottage Wreath

Here is a monochromatic Blueberry Bushel Cottage Wreath card.
I had planned and started a different Christmas card but “stuff happened”. Recognising that I may not have time to complete my planned design. I then created a simpler card using Blueberry Bushel and Basic White.

There is more Blueberry Bushel creativity so continue with the blog hop. Just click the "next" graphic below to be taken to the blog of the special Christine BlainI am looking forward to checking out Christine’s creation. I do love seeing everyones' projects - there is always so much inspiration.

I do hope to see you next week when we will be featuring Cajun Craze as we continue the weekly 2023-2024 Colour Creations Blog Hop series

Also, we are commencing the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop next Monday night - there will be lots of Christmas creating ideas to help us all start preparing for the festive season.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #6 Azure Afternoon

Azure Afternoon with Beauty of the Deep

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week, however, we are starting with the new colours and are currently featuring the new core colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a mid turquoise called Azure Afternoon. Azure Afternoon is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a gorgeous blue. This colour would be a lovely watery seaside colour or perhaps even be used for sky. As with the other new colours, I am exploring coordinating colours but I think it work’s well with other blues and blue greens (as used in the card below).

Azure Afternoon is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Masterfully Made, Fresh As A Daisy and Bright & Beautiful DSPs; plus White Centre Speciality Paper; Bright & Beautiful Memories & More Card Pack + Cards & Envelopes; the Sheer Ribbon Combo; and Opaque Ovals. It is a beautiful selection.

Beauty of the Deep provides wonderful inspiration in creating a card to tell a special person how amazing they are.

Azure Afternoon card-stock and ink
have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Azure Afternoon bits and pieces.

I decided to take note of the name of this colour to set the theme for my project, as such I have used the gorgeous Beauty of the Deep bundle. I also thought that a water-colour background would work brilliantly. I’m sorry to have used another water-colour technique - however, I do love this background and think it works well as an undersea scene.

I used the wet on wet water-colour technique with Azure Afternoon Classic Stampin’ Ink together with Blueberry Bushel, Coastal Cabana and Lost Lagoon inks on Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. Once dry, the large filigree coral stamp from the Beauty of the Deep stamp set was white heat embossed over each side edge with Versamark ink, white Emboss Powder and a Heat tool before being mounted on Azure Afternoon card-stock

The fish from the Beauty of the Deep set were stamped in either Petal Pink or Calypso Coral inks on Basic White card-stock. They were all coloured with Wink of Stella and a touch of Petal Pink ink. One of the coral plants was stamped in Lost Lagoon ink. The anchor was silver heat embossed. The long leafy plant was white heat embossed on Vellum card-stock. All were die cut with coordinating Beauty of the Deep dies. The wide coral-type plant was die cut from Basic White card-stock. A Thick Basic White card base was stamped along 3 edges with the long leafy stamp in 2nd generation Azure Afternoon ink.

All the various pieces were arranged and adhered with either Multi-purpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals or Glue Dots. Shhhhh - but the 2 smaller Petal Pink fish are swimming up-side-down. I didn’t realise this till I was adding watermarks to the photos. Oops. Some Tahitian Tide 2022-2024 In Color Baker’s Twine was attached to the anchor with the ends frayed to give a sense of the anchor’s rope disintegrating and entwining itself in the sea plants. Some white Craft ink was splattered over as well. A sentiment from Season of Chic stamp set was white heat embossed on Azure Afternoon card-stock. A number of Iridescent Pearls added a little extra shimmer.

A panel of Basic White card-stock mounted on a slightly larger piece of Azure Afternoon card-stock had been 2nd generation Azure Afternoon stamped with the tall leafy stamp and a couple of Petal Pink stamped fish. A C6 Basic White envelope was stamped in the same manner to coordinate.

Thank you so much for dropping in to check out my Azure Afternoon Sea Theme card. I so appreciate you and your interest.
