Cherry Cobbler with Nests of Winter

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a beautiful rose red called Cherry Cobbler.  Cherry Cobbler is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a rich deep cherry red. It can coordinate with a range of colours, including complementing greens, pinks, neutrals, etc and it would be wonderful for berries, flowers and is a staple for Christmas crafting.

Cherry Cobbler is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Watercolor Pencils; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as a number of other products, including Iconic Celebrations, Meandering Meadows, Traditions of St Nick and the coming Nests of Winter DSP; Shining Christmas Speciality DSP; and the Rustic Christmas Countdown Kit. 

This project has incorporated Cherry Cobbler as Card-stock, Stampin' Write Marker, Watercolor Pencil (Assortment 2) and Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper.

The Nests of Winter Suite is one of the suites in the soon to be launched September-December 2024 Mini Catalogue. I love it. It can be used for Christmas as well as for everyday use. I have used 3 different designs of a Nests of Winter DSP packet. Two of the designs incorporate a range of beautiful birds. I have fussy cut 2 different birds (plus a 3rd for the message panel) from these sheets. The third DSP design is used inside the card to be seen when the card is open - more of that later. For a little extra shading, a Cherry Cobbler water-colour pencil from Stampin’ Up!s Assortment 2 pack was used to give more depth to the Cherry Cobbler birds.

The front labels were cut using 2 mid sized Countryside Corners dies - one from Basic White card-stock and one from Cherry Cobbler card-stock.  When I looked at the labels together, the Cherry Cobbler mount seemed too dominant and needed to be reduced. The 2 labels were adhered together and then the mount width was trimmed down with a Stampin’ Trimmer. I had initially planned a wider Cherry Cobbler border but in wanting an even mount all around I needed to keep trimming to attain an even straight mount. I must admit, when I scooped up the off cuts for the bin there was an abundance of extra thin Cherry Cobbler strips!

Basic White card-stock panels for the card front were embossed with the suites Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder.  You may have guessed that this card is a fun fold. When designing the card I remembered seeing Sue Campfield, a USA SU Demonstrator, create this fold months ago. She called it a Majestic fold as when the card opens it forms a “M” shape. I have converted the dimensions to suit our A4 dimensions so 2 cards can be created from 1 sheet of card-stock. Below is a down-ward shot of the open card.

As you can see, panels of the 3rd DSP design have been adhered on the outer sections of the inside of the card. I had wondered about placing the DSP in the central panels, but it distracted the eye from the focal section. More embossed Basic White panels were adhered in the central sections and the DSP panels frame the focal area as you can see below.

The white & red mounted label had a little Pool Party Classic ink blended in the centre using a Blending Brush. A piece of the luscious Striped Iridescent Ribbon was tied around the label ending in a bow. Two fussy cut birds were arranged and adhered in place with Dimensionals.

A sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set was white heat embossed onto Cherry Cobbler card-stock and then fussy cut. It was popped upon Dimensionals. A little splattering was added with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker. The final touch - a scattering of a few Iridescent Faceted Gems. 

Basic White card-stock panels for writing a personal message were adhered to the back of the card. Before adhering in place another sentiment from the Greetings of the Season set was stamped on one of the panels in Momento ink. A third little fussy cut bird was added onto the other panel and a berry & pine fussy cut image was added to the bottom of the sentiment panel. The same sentiment also was stamped onto a Basic White C6 Envelope.

It was really quite simple to make. I will probably use different fussy cut birds so the 2nd card is similar but different.

Cherry Cobbler with Paper Florist Dies

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a rich deep red called Cherry Cobbler. Cherry Cobbler is one of the Regals Colour Family and is a warm red with a touch of purple. This colour would be lovely when used for flowers, cherries and is a brilliant colour for Christmas.

Cherry Cobbler is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Watercolor Pencils; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as Joy of Christmas DSP and Festive Pearls. 

Cherry Cobbler card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Festive Pearls have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Cherry Cobbler bits and pieces.

As I am trying to spur myself on into creating for Christmas I decided to use Cherry Cobbler for a Christmas card. I also thought I would think laterally and use non-Christmas products for Christmas while using a christmas-y colour scheme.

I think one of the dies within the Paper Florist dies could be interpreted as poinsettia like (just squint your eyes and use your imagination). Three sets of this flower were cut from Basic White card-stock as well as leaves and flower buds. I also cut out the pieces for a different flower but decided not to use it when arranging the various elements. 

The background panel was ombre coloured with Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin’ ink and a Blending Brush. Isn’t Cherry Cobbler a delightful pink when its only applied lightly. I love exploring the different tints, tones and shades that can be created with a colour. To add a tad of extra interest one of the Brilliant Background dies was used to pierce a design in 2 opposite corners.

The flowers were coloured with Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin’ ink and a Mini Blending Brush. The leaves were coloured with Old Olive ink and the flower centres with touches of Wild Wheat ink. A Basic White card-stock card front was also stamped in second generation Crumb Cake ink using tiny hearts from the Country Bouquet stamp set. A little splattering with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker was added and the splattering embossing folder from the Stripes & Splatters 3D embossing folder set was used to emboss the front panel.

The smaller card front panel was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Cherry Cobbler card-stock. Some gold trim from the On-Line Only Gold & Silver Trim Combo Pack was tied around the centre and then into a bow near one edge. This centre panel was mounted to the background using Dimensionals. All of the floral pieces were arranged and adhered in place using either Mini Dimensionals or Multipurpose Liquid Glue. 

A piece of Gold Simply Elegant Trim was tied around the bow’s knot and then tied into a bow. The ends of the trim’s bow were quite curly so I just let them do their thing - I quite liked the effect. A sentiment from the Hope and Peace stamp set (currently an On-line Only product) was white heat embossed onto Cherry Cobbler card-stock, fussy cut and added to the card with Mini Dimensionals. Some Cherry Cobbler Festive Pearls were scattered around the sentiment and some gold pearls adhered to the flower centres.

A different sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink onto a Basic White card inner; and a few second generation Crumb Cake hearts were stamped around the sentiment. A couple of individual left over leaves were added near the hearts.  A C6 Basic White envelope was similarly stamped with the Crumb Cake hearts along the left edge of the envelope front.

Old Olive with a Nature’s Prints Wreath

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a muted green called Old Olive. Old Olive is part of the Regals Colour Family and as the name suggests is a olive green colour. This colour is lovely when used for leaves, trees, etc and works with so many colours. 

Old Olive is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends Combo; Watercolor Pencils; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as Happy Forest Friends, Design A Daydream, Artfully Composed, Gingerbread & Peppermint and Beauty of the Earth DSPs; plus Old Olive & Sahara Sand Twill Ribbon Combo Pack, Glitter Washi Four Pack and Faux Sea Glass Shapes. That’s a solid list demonstrating the colour's versatility.

Old Olive card-stock, ink, Stampin' Write Marker and Twill Ribbon have been used in this project plus a range of non-Old Olive bits and pieces. Here is my card:

I have created another Christmas card - as I am running low on cards and still a few more to send. Two wreaths were cut from Shimmery White card-stock using the wreath die from the Natural Prints dies. A number of smaller stems were also die cut. They were all water-coloured with Old Olive Classic Stampin’ ink, ensuring variation of colour. One wreath was coloured much lighter. All the pieces were put aside to dry naturally.

The flower from the Nature’s Prints stamp set was stamped a number of times and gold heat embossed on Shimmery White card-stock, using Versamark ink, Gold Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. The flower was water-coloured. You may not easily guess the colour that was used - its Cherry Cobbler!  It has dried with a more orange tinge similar to Calypso Coral. I promise its not Calypso Coral but Cherry Cobbler. Once dry, the flowers were fussy cut.

A Basic White card-stock panel was embossed with the pine EF from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder set. The same size panel was cut from Old Olive card-stock and they were layered onto a Thick Basic White card base. The various pieces of foliage and flowers were arranged. The lighter wreath was positioned first, then the 2nd wreath. Some of the stems were layered on top. Three of the flowers were arranged to one side and the other 2 flowers were tucked between foliage layers. 

A bow was tied with Old Olive Twill Ribbon that had been cut in half lengthwise and a second bow was tied with Gold Elegant Trim. They were tucked between the flowers. Gold Holy Leaves were added here and there and 2 Flat Jingle Bell Trinkets were adhered under the floral arrangement. A sentiment from the Brightest Glow stamp set was stamped in Old Olive ink on Shimmery White card-stock and fussy cut, before being adhered with Mini Dimensionals.

The inside of the card also layered Basic White card-stock over Old Olive card-stock. A gold embossed flower and a remaining water-coloured stem were added to link the theme of the card front to the inside. A C6 Basic White envelope was gold heat embossed using the flower stamp. Just a simple touch to tie the envelope to the card it will carry.

Cherry Cobbler with Cottage Rose and some Loose Water-colouring

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep cherry red called Cherry Cobbler. Cherry Cobbler is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a deep muted colour. This colour is lovely when used for Christmas, flowers and so much more. It goes with different greens, with Crumb Cake, Pool Party, etc. It is also great with Gold. 

Cherry Cobbler is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Water-colour Pencils; Stampin' Blends; Regals Designer Series Paper as well as Painted Christmas and Boughs of Holly DSPs; plus Lights Aglow and Festive Foils Speciality DSPs; Festive Pearls; and Santa Express Memories & More Cards & Envelopes. 

We are coming to the end of July, which is Worldwide Watercolor month.  I have been attempting to include watercolour in some form in each blogged project this month and have intended to use the Loose Watercolour technique during the month - so tonight is the night. 

I find it fun to use a stamp set out of its usual context and so while thinking of a Christmas rose, I decided to use the gorgeous Cottage Rose stamp set. I gold embossed the larger image using Versamark ink, Gold Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. This image was masked using the newly available Masking Paper and then the mid-sized flower and leaves were stamped and heat embossed. I love the effect of masking but seldom use it. Now that Stampin' Up! is supplying Masking Paper I will probably be using this technique more often. 

The images were stamped on a half sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. This enables you to get 2 projects from one sheet of paper - so much more economical. Loose water-colouring means you don't stay within the lines but allow the ink to blur over the edges and colours to mix slightly - although the latter needs to be done carefully so you don't end up with a muddy brown picture. I like to work with colours for one image and then leave it to slightly dry before using the next colour combo. If using complementary colours, I leave the image to dry much more so the colours don't bleed into each other. 

The base lighter layer was laid down first using a fair bit of water and the mid-sized Water Painter (they come in a set of 3, ie fine, medium and wide brush). You can relax with this layer and paint over the edges of the images - just have fun. The Classic Stampin' Inks used to paint the image are: Cherry Cobbler for the large flower, Petal Pink with touches of Cherry Cobbler for the smaller flowers, Crumb Cake around the fine gold flowers and Soft Succulent with touches of Evening Evergreen for the leaves. I couldn't resist using the fine Water Painter to add extra detail, colour and depth.

Once the panel had dried, I added a splattering of Cherry Cobbler ink using a Stampin' Write Marker. It wasn't fully dry (I was running out of time) so some of the splatters blurred. The water-coloured panel was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Cherry Cobbler card-stock. A piece of Basic White card-stock was embossed with the Stitched Greenery die as the leaves were a similar shape to the leaves in the stamp set. I do love the effect of this stitched die.

A sentiment from the Hope and Peace stamp set was gold heat embossed onto a scrap of Thick Basic White card-stock. I like extra thickness for sentiment strips to ensure the label sits straighter, especially over trim or ribbon. Some gold Simply Elegant Trim was wrapped around the painted panel and the sentiment label was positioned over using Dimensionals. A seperate double bow was adhered with Glue Dots. Some Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels added the finishing touch of shimmer.

A Basic White piece of card-stock was gold heat embossed using the larger cottage rose stamp for the card inner. A C6 Basic White envelope was similarly embossed.

I so loved creating this card and do love the effect of loose water-colouring.  I had hoped to create a second card with and alternative Cherry Cobbler colour scheme but time ran out - perhaps on the weekend. Thank you so much for dropping by. I do value the time you spent with me.
