AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #38 Parakeet Party

Parakeet Party with Detailed Dogwood

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a vibrant yellow green called Parakeet Party. Parakeet Party is part of the 2022-2024 In Colour Family and is a bright green that can coordinate with other brights. This colour is lovely for plants, leaves and vibrant colour schemes.

Parakeet Party is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; 2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper, Delightful Floral DSP as well as In Color Pearls, In Color Metallic Woven Ribbon, Pool Party Crinkle Ribbon and Bakers Twine plus the Love This Memory Notebook Kit.

Parakeet Party ink, Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Write Marker, In Color Pearls & Bakers Twine have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Parakeet Party bits and pieces.

I created a standard card with some Designer Series Paper, Stampin’ Blends colouring and the addition of colour with a Blending Brush. The card incorporates 2 products that can be acquired for free with a qualifying order. Have you checked out the new Sale-a-bration Brochure? There are so many items that you can get for free with qualifying orders. Do check it out. (I would be delighted to help you if you don’t have a demonstrator already and would like a copy of the Sale-a-bration Brochure and the January-April 2024 Mini Catalogue.).

A number of the larger flower/leaf spray from the Detailed Dogwood stamp set was stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ ink on Basic White card-stock. The bird in the Thoughtful Expressions Stamp set was stamped similarly. As mentioned, the Detailed Dogwood stamp set is a Sale-a-bration set that you can receive for free with a purchase of $180 of Stampin’ Up! products in one order. Some single flowers from the first mentioned stamps were stamped in Daffodil Delight Classic ink.

The dogwood spray was coloured with Stampin’ Blends, ie the leaves with Parakeet Party, the flowers with Daffodil Delight and Colour Lifter. The hummingbird was coloured with Parakeet Party, Daffodil Delight, Azure Afternoon and Crumb Cake combos with the Colour Lifter.

The flowers and bird were all fussy cut. The Detailed Dogwood set is a stamp alone set so required fussy cutting and while the bird did have a coordinating die, I fussy cut it out for consistency sake. Two different small leaf sprays from the Notes of Nature set of dies were cut from Basic White card-stock. One of the scalloped border dies from the Basic Border dies was used to cut a B-side panel of the Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper (another free Sale-a-bration product with a qualifying order).

A Basic White card front was partially coloured with Pool Party ink and a Blending Brush, plus some splatters were added with a Parakeet Party Stampin’ Write Marker. The DSP die cut edge was popped up on Dimensionals. The flowers and leaves were arranged over the border and adhered in place with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Glue Dots. The hummingbird was popped up on double Dimensionals.

A sentiment from the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set was stamped in Parakeet Party ink on Basic White card-stock. The sentiment was fussy cut and then popped up on Mini Dimensionals. The final touch was the addition a double Bakers Twine bow and some In Color Pearls (from the Annual Catalogue).

A Basic White panel for writing a personal message was adhered inside the card. The left over DSP from die cutting the panel on the card front was adhered to the left edge of the inner panel. A left over stamped and coloured flower and die cut leaves were adhered over the DSP edge. A Basic White C6 envelope was stamped with the Detailed Dogwood floral spray in Crumb Cake ink

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #28 Gray Granite

Gray Granite with Joy of NOEL & Framing Foliage

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a mid warm grey called Gray Granite. Gray Granite is one of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a grey with a touch of brown. This colour is lovely neutral that coordinates with so many colours. I do love pink and grey - as you can see in both of my cards for this blog hop.

Gray Granite is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as Earthen Elegance DSP, Colourful Kaleidoscope kit and Sentimental Rose All-inclusive Kit & Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack.

Gray Granite card-stock, ink and Baker’s Twine Essentials pack have been used in the creation of these projects plus a range of non-Gray Granite bits and pieces.

My first card features Gray Granite with a little Petal Pink and touches of Soft Sea Foam. The card base and background use Gray Granite card-stock. The background was stamped with the larger Christmas arrangement from the Joy of Noel set with Versamark Ink and White Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. A little White Watercolour Pencil lightly coloured the image. The background panel was cut down using the largest Deckled Rectangle die. A little White Craft ink was blended over the edges. This panel was directly mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Basic White card-stock.

Using the Joy of Noel stamps, the NOEL was stamped in Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ ink and “Joyous” in Gray Granite ink.  The curved Christmas arrangement was stamped in 2nd generation Gray Granite ink and then coloured with Gray Granite, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends Combos. The NOEL was backed with Foam Adhesive sheet and cut out with a coordinating die from the Joy of Noel dies. The other part of the sentiment and the coloured arrangement were both fussy cut - the latter only because I was sitting with a dog on my lap so couldn’t get up to die cut with the coordinating die.

A thin strip of Petal Pink Glimmer paper from the Three Colour Glimmer Speciality Paper (a new online exclusive) was flagged at each end and laid across the card. A Basic White label, cut using the largest Stylish Shapes circle die was embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and adhered with Dimensionals. Some Wink of Stella was splattered over the card front.

The remaining pieces were arranged and a double Linen Thread bow adhered in place with a Mini Glue Dot. The final touch of glimmer was the addition of Adhesive-backed Glitter Sequins.

The Basic White card inner was simply stamped in Gray Granite ink with the curved arrangement.  A Basic White C6 envelope was similarly stamped with the same stamp in Gray Granite ink.

CARD 2

The second card has a similar colour scheme, although a couple of different colours were used when colouring the main image.

I hadn’t inked the Framing Foliage stamp set so white heat embossed the Christmas frame onto a Basic White piece of card-stock. This panel was diagonally blended half with Gray Granite and Petal Pink inks, making it a little darker around the embossed image. The image was “bleached” with water and left to dry - that is, a wet fine tipped Water Brush was used to lift the ink within the image.

Once dry Stampin’ Blends Combos, ie Gray Granite, Petal Pink, Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Pecan Pie and the Colour Lifter were used to colour the image. A White Watercolor Pencil was used to add highlights. The letters from the Alphabet A La Mode dies that spell “Happy” cut Basic White card-stock backed with Foam Adhesive Sheet. “Christmas” from the More Wishes stamp set was stamped on Basic White card-stock and fussy cut.

The “Happy” letters were arranged in a higgledy piggledy fashion. (I liked the way the letters were originally arranged but they didn’t end up the same way when adhered. A little bit different makes a difference!) The card was finished with a double bow of Gray Granite Bakers Twine from the Essentials Pack, some gorgeous Adhesive-backed Speckled Dots and a splattering of Wink of Stella.

The card inner was simply stamped in Gray Granite ink on Basic White card-stock using the edge of the Christmas foliage frame stamp. A Basic White C6 envelope was similarly stamped with the same stamp edge, but on both shorter edges of the envelope.

Thank you so much for dropping by on you way around the Colour Creations Blog Hop. I know we are a smaller group this week but I am sure there will still be so much Gray Granite  inspiration shared.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #13 Blackberry Bliss

Blackberry Bliss with Hey Chuck and a Christmas Bonus

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a rich deep berry colour called Blackberry Bliss. Blackberry Bliss is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a warm red purple. This colour would be a lovely when used for flowers, berries and chickens (wink).

Blackberry Bliss is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as the Stargazing DSP.

Have a friend who loves her chickens? Why not create a Blackberry Bliss card with the Hey Chuck Stampin’ Up! bundle.

Blackberry Bliss
card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends combo have been used in the creation of this and the Christmas project below plus a range of non-Blackberry Bliss bits and pieces.

Have a friend who loves her chickens? Why not create a Blackberry Bliss card with the Hey Chuck Stampin’ Up! bundle.

A friend of mine is celebrating her birthday tomorrow but we enjoyed a lunch together yesterday. This friend loves her chooks, so when I saw the Hey Chuck bundle I knew I needed to buy this set. Even though I created this card for her, I hasten to add that her ‘girls’ aren’t Fresh Freesia & Blackberry Bliss - but I think my chook looks cute. I did start by water-colouring a background panel but as the design developed a different background was needed.

Have a friend who loves her chickens? Why not create a Blackberry Bliss card with the Hey Chuck Stampin’ Up! bundle.

This background was created by randomly stamping the chosen sentiment in Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin’ ink down the left side of a piece of Basic White card-stock. Fresh Freesia and Blackberry Bliss Classic inks were applied with a Blending Brush over the stamping. A Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker was used to add splatter. The background panel was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Blackberry Bliss card-stock and then onto the Basic White Thick card base.

One of the Hey Chuck chickens was stamped onto a piece of Fluid 100 Water-colour Paper in Versamark ink and then gold heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder, the Embossing Additions Tool Kit and a Heat Gun. The fence, cake and skate board were also gold embossed. The sun and wind direction arrow were die cut from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. The stamped and die cut pieces were all water-coloured - the chook with Fresh Freesia & Blackberry Bliss inks; the skate-board in Misty Moonlight ink; the arrow with Pretty Peacock ink; the sun with Lemon Lolly ink; and the fence with both Pretty Peacock & Misty Moonlight inks. When the chicken had dried I wanted some extra depth so added touches with Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends and to the fence with Pretty Peacock Blends. It’s OK to mix media.

A label from the Nested Essentials dies was cut from Basic White card-stock and then embossed with stripes from the Stripes and Splatters 3D Embossing Folders. It was added with Dimensionals. All of the water-coloured pieces were arranged with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Dimensionals. A Linen Twine bow was tied around the arrow. The sentiment was white heat embossed onto Blackberry Bliss card-stock and some Versamark ink was added with a Blender Pen and then a little gold Emboss Powder was heat embossed - to link the sentiment with the gold embossed images. The final touch - the addition of some Iridescent Basic Rhinestone Jewels. I love adding a touch of glimmer.

Another chook had been coloured with Stampin’ Blends, ie Blackberry Bliss, Pretty Peacock & Fresh Freesia Blends combos. Initially I had been playing with colours for the chicken, but decided it wasn’t the preferred colour combo for the chicken on the card front - however, she was perfect for inside the card. I couldn’t waste her. Basic White card-stock was mounted onto a slightly larger piece of Blackberry Bliss card-stock. The same chicken image was gold heat embossed onto a C6 Basic White envelope.

Christmas Card:

I know it seems so so early, but I needed to start creating Christmas cards to build my card stash for Christmas. The Heart of Christmas Blog Hop is coming soon but before we start blog hopping I am hoping to create a Christmas card as well for the Colour Creations Blog Hops.

Like non-traditional twists in Christmas cards then create a Blackberry Bliss Snow Crystal card with watercolouring.

As mentioned, I had created a water-colour background but then decided it wasn’t right for the card above so in creating a Christmas card I started with the piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper that had been coloured with Blackberry Bliss and Misty Moonlight inks.

Like non-traditional twists in Christmas cards then create a Blackberry Bliss Snow Crystal card with watercolouring.

It was stamped with the Snow Crystal stamp in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with Gold Emboss Powder. The water-colouring wasn’t quite right so I added more Blackberry Bliss ink using the wet on wet water colour technique and the emboss resist technique. Once dry White Pigment Craft ink was splattered over to add extra highlights.

Like non-traditional twists in Christmas cards then create a Blackberry Bliss Snow Crystal card with watercolouring.

The dried water-colour panel was trimmed down with a Deckled Rectangle die and then mounted onto Distressed Gold Speciality Paper. Three snowflakes from the Chic dies cut snowflakes from Gold Foil.

A sentiment from Hope & Peace stamp set (currently an Online Exclusive) was white heat embossed onto Blackberry Bliss card-stock and some of the words were fussy cut out. They were added with Mini Dimensionals. The Gold Foil snowflakes were arranged and adhered with Liquid Glue or a Dimensional. A number of Adhesive-backed Sparkle Gems and a double bow of the Gold Elegant Trim were added.

Like non-traditional twists in Christmas cards then create a Blackberry Bliss Snow Crystal card with watercolouring.

A Basic White card-stock inner was stamped with part of the Snow Crystal Stamp in Blackberry Bliss ink as was a C6 Basic White envelope.

Thank you so much for calling in to check out my Blackberry Bliss projects. x

AWHT Colour Creations #13 Crumb Cake

Crumb Cake with Angels of Peace & For Unto Us

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart 2021-2022 Colour Creations Blog Hop.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a neutral light brown called Crumb Cake.  It is similar but still a different brown from Kraft card-stock - slightly lighter and Kraft has a little more of an orange tinge. Crumb Cake is part of the Neutrals Colour Family and coordinates so well with many colours (as neutrals tend to do). One of my favourite colour combinations is Petal Pink with Crumb Cake, so in the end I decided to go with this combo. My initial thought was to use White on Crumb Cake which is always delightful, but my designing process took me in another direction.

Crumb Cake is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, the Neutrals Designer Series Paper and some Bakers Twine (as part of the Essentials Pack of twine). The Slim-line Christmas cards below have used Crumb Cake card-stock, Classic ink, Stampin' Blends Combo, and Bakers Twine, plus other bits and pieces.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

I was planning to make a fancy fold that I had recently seen and started with water-colouring some panels to use as background pieces. However, when layering them as they would look in the fancy fold I wasn't convinced that it worked well so ended up in a completely different direction, creating 2 more simple cards.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

I was delighted with the water-colour effect achieved with the panel used on this first card. In my water-colour experimentation I have been trying to gain more variation of colour but usually my watercolour backgrounds tend to end up as a subtle blending of colours. This panel also uses the emboss resist technique, with a sentiment from the For Unto Us stamp set stamped in Versamark ink onto Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder and a Heat Gun. I used Crumb Cake and Petal Pink Classic Re-inkers with the mid-sized Water Painter and some extra water.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

When dry, the water-coloured panel was mounted on a larger piece of Petal Pink card-stock. Some Basic White Bakers Twine from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack was wrapped around twice and tied in a bow; and then the panel was mounted onto the Crumb Cake card-stock base. The base had been cut to create a small slimline card. The card was then finished with a few delightful Elegant Faceted Gems. I am sooo glad these carried over into the current Annual Catalogue for 2021-2022. This is a fairly simple card for me as I usually have layer upon layer and lots of texture, but I am still pleased with it, especially the water-colour effect.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

The card inner is simple too, with the angel from the Angels of Peace stamps partially stamped on a piece of Basic White card-stock in Petal Pink ink and the words that continue from the front sentiment, (ie a Christmas carol "Hark the Herald Angels sing, Glory to the new born King") were stamped in Crumb Cake ink. I made a custom sized envelope to suit the small slimline card using some retired Designer Series Paper. Creating your own envelopes with retired DSP is a great way to use your stash of DSP and the envelopes always look great.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

Card 2:  The second card used another water-coloured panel, that was created with the same products as previously mentioned. It too was mounted onto a panel of Petal Pink card-stock and White Crinkled Seam Binding was wrapped around and tied into a bow. Some Crumb Cake Bakers Twine from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack was tied around the ribbon bow's knot and then tied into a bow. The whole panel was mounted onto the small slimline card Crumb Cake base.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

The larger angel from the Angels of Peace stamp set was stamped on a seperate piece of Basic White card-stock in stamped off Crumb Cake ink. The angel was coloured with Stampin' Blends, ie Crumb Cake & Petal Pink combos and Ivory & the Colour Lifter. She was fussy cut. A label was die cut from Basic White card-stock using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

The white label was positioned with Dimensionals and the Angel was added with another layer of Dimensionals. I do so love the effect of the added depth provided by Dimensionals and given my restraint in not added them to the background layers, I felt I could go a little wild with the focal elements. A sentiment from the same stamp set was white heat embossed on Crumb Cake card-stock and trimmed to only use the first line of the sentiment. The sentiment was layered on the label with Dimensionals as well. Some beautiful Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added as the finishing touch. They added that little shimmer and the colour seemed to match perfectly.

The card inner and envelope was similar to the first card apart from the sentiment. The same sentiment as was used on the front was stamped in Crumb Cake and the piece of the sentiment that wasn't used on the front of the card was layered over the stamped words.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.

I had fun playing with water-colour and creating these cards to share. I will need to make the fancy fold with something different so I can try it out. If it works, it may even turn up in a week or two featuring another of Stampin' Up!'s beautiful colours.

The Angels sing to herald in Christmas and so many blessings.
