AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #50 Tahitian Tide

Tahitian Tide with Sweet Songbirds and Seaside Bay

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This blog hop is the final one for the 2023-2024 series. Next week we start afresh with the launch of Stampin’ Up!s 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue on the 1st May and will start with a focus on the new In Colours.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright aqua called Tahitian Tide. Tahitian Tide is part of the retiring 2022-2024 In Colour Family and is a wonderful bright blue. This colour is lovely for clear blue water, bright flowers, a blue and white colour scheme and anything with an aqua blue.

Tahitian Tide is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; 2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper, Bakers Twine, Metallic Woven Ribbon, Pearls as well as Stargazing DSP, Saying Thanks kit and the Love This Memory kit.

Tahitian Tide ink, cardstock, Stampin’ Blends Combo, Stampin’ Write Marker, In Colour Pearls & Bakers Twine have been used in the creation of the two projects plus a range of non-Tahitian Tide bits and pieces.

I had a number of ideas for a Tahitian Tide project and none of them were this first card. As I settled to create, I decided to check my retiring stamp sets and found this one, Sweet Songbirds, hadn’t seen any ink. It is such a cute set, so decided work my card design around these stamps as a starting point.

The background used the newish On-line Exclusive - Drizzling Droplets stamp. It was white heat embossed onto Basic White card-stock and then blended with Tahitian Tide Classic Stampin’ ink and a Blending Brush in an ombré fashion. The birds also were stamped in Tahitian Tide ink (its artistic licence - although one could say they are “blue birds”). The eyes were stamped in Crumb Cake ink.

The focal label was cut from Basic White card-stock using the retiring Scalloped Contour dies. I have used this set so much and am sad to see it go, however, more label die cuts will be available so I a sure I will fall in love with a new set soon. I had stamped tree boughs and cut them out but then lost them. As I was looking for them, I spied a white die cut stem of leaves and decided to cut another one the same using the retiring Dainty Delight dies to create places for the birds to sit. I blended a little Parakeet Party ink over the white stems of leaves. Coordinating white flowers were also die cut.

I went a little wild with embellishments. Loose Daisy Embellishments were added to each little bird. Initially the flowers were white, but the card needed a little more colour so I added a little Daffodil Delight ink to the centre of the flowers with a cotton bud as I just wanted colour in the centres. To give something extra to the flower centres some retiring Rainbow Adhesive Backed Dots were added. A sentiment from the same set of stamps was stamped in Crumb Cake ink and fussy cut out. An In Colour Bakers Twine bow was tucked under the sentiment and few of the In Color Pearls were scattered nearby.

The card inner was decorated with some Tahitian Tide blending, a little bird and some left over leaves and flowers. The follow-on sentiment was also stamped in Crumb Cake ink. A Basic White C6 envelope was white heat embossed on one side with the Drizzling Droplets image and some Tahitian Tide ink was blended over the heat embossing.

I think this card looks happy and bright. It makes me smile and I hope it gives you a smile too.

CARD 2:

After finishing my first card, I saw a beautiful ocean scene with the water a pure Tahitian Tide colour and knew I needed to create a second card. I had also briefly seen a number of versions of gate folds so have combined different features into this fold.

A new Embossing Folder is a swirly design called So Swirly. It reminds me of swirling water so I used it for the Basic White background layer.

The label was created with Stampin’ Blends on Vellum card-stock and blended with 90% Alcohol and the wide brushed Water Painter. I scribbled over the vellum with Boho Blue, Tahitian Tide and Crumb Cake Blends Combos and dipped the brush in a lid filled with alcohol and swiped left to right over the coloured vellum. I love the effect achieved. The vellum was adhered to Basic White card-stock and die cut with the largest rectangular Thoughtful Expressions die.

I am going to miss the retiring Seaside Bay bundle and so gave it a little more love by using it on this card. The birds, and shells were stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Basic White card-stock. The shells were coloured with Petal Pink & Crumb Cake Blends Combos with a touch of Light Calypso Coral Blend. The birds were coloured with Boho Blue, Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake Blends Combos plus the Colour Lifter to soften highlights.

Some reeds were die cut from Basic White card-stock using the Seaside Bay dies. Some Light Old Olive Blend added touches of green to the reeds. A large shell was cut from the new Basic Beige card-stock and a little Crumb Cake ink was added with a Small Blending Brush.

A sentiment from the new Simply Said stamp set was white heat embossed onto Tahitian Tide card-stock. A few Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls were sprinkled around the sentiment and a large pearl was added inside the clam shell for the recipient to find. A small Linen Twine bow was tucked under a small shell.

Above and below are a couple of photos to show aspects of the fun fold. It can stand partially open to display the card.

The card inner was stamped in Crumb Cake ink with images and a sentiment from the Seaside Bay stamps. A large Flat Adhesive Backed Pearl was added to the shell. As the embellishment was a bit smaller than the pearl image some left over die cut reeds partially cover the pearl.

A C6 Basic White Envelope was also stamped in Crumb Cake ink with Seaside Bay images.

It doesn’t really show in the photos but the vellum label was added to the centre panel with Dimensionals and a second white label was added behind the centre panel to give the inside a nice finish. This also enables the background layers on the other side of the card to slip between the front and back labels, which holds the card neatly shut - although it will open a little - as seen above.

Thank you so much for dropping by on your way around the last Colour Creations Blog Hop for the 2023-2024 series.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #49 Sweet Sorbet

Sweet Sorbet with Dainty Delight & Paper Florist

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This is the penultimate week for the 2023-2024 round. The year has disappeared so quickly.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a strong red with a slight purple tinge called Sweet Sorbet. Sweet Sorbet is part of the retiring 2022-2024 In Color Family and is a pretty red. This colour is lovely for flowers, hearts, a red and white colour scheme and anything you would like red.

Sweet Sorbet is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper as well as Masterfully Made & Bee Mine DSPs; Adhesive-backed Hearts & Flowers, In Color Pearls; In Color Bakers Twine, and In Colour Metallic Woven ribbon. All of these products are retiring at the end of the month unless sold out earlier. If you love them - don’t wait to place your order.

How about creating a Sweet Sorbet fun fold card full of flowers to a special friend to help them to celebrate.

Sweet Sorbet ink, card-stock, Stampin’ Write Marker, Masterfully Made and Bee Mine DSPs, In Color Pearls and Adhesive-backed Hearts and Flowers embellishments have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Sweet Sorbet bits and pieces.

I saw this fancy fold created demonstrated recently by Emma Goddard, a very talented UK Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and it was fresh in my mind so it made its way into this project. As can easily happen the card evolved and ended up including a range of products from different suites & bundles. It also ended up using 2 completely different DSPs that both included Sweet Sorbet, ie the Masterfully Made DSP that includes Sweet Sorbet flowers and the Bee Mine DSP with its Sweet Sorbet hearts.

How about creating a Sweet Sorbet fun fold card full of flowers to a special friend to help them to celebrate.

I started with one of the designs of Masterfully Made DSP and die cut a series of pieces from Basic White card-stock to create a number of flowers using the Paper Florist dies and the Meadows dies (both sets of dies are retiring too). The flowers were coloured with a Blending Brush, ensuring the tips of the flowers were pale and the centres darker. Sweet Sorbet, Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst and Daffodil Delight were the ink colours. Some Shaded Spruce was blended over the front Basic White card-stock panel. The choice of these colours were inspired by the DSP.

How about creating a Sweet Sorbet fun fold card full of flowers to a special friend to help them to celebrate.

The back inside panel of the card was stamped in Momento ink with the larger image from the Dainty Delight stamp set (another retiring item). I re-inked my Momento ink pad and it drank in the ink quickly - and wow, what a difference it made to the stamped image. I don’t know about you, but it can be easy to keep using our ink pads and forget to give them a little TLC. It does make a difference and improves the end result so much.

How about creating a Sweet Sorbet fun fold card full of flowers to a special friend to help them to celebrate.

After forming the flowers and arranging them with the leaves, something else was needed, so 3 sizes of bees from the Bee Mine DSP were fussy cut and added for a whimsical touch.  (Sometimes I can have a pixie-ish sense of humour.) A sentiment from the Dainty Delight Stamp set was stamped in Momento ink and fussy cut out.

How about creating a Sweet Sorbet fun fold card full of flowers to a special friend to help them to celebrate.

The card was finished with a triple Sweet Sorbet Bakers Twine bow, Sweet Sorbet In Color Pearls and some Sweet Sorbet little Adhesive Backed Hearts. A little Sweet Sorbet splattering was added with a Stampin’ Write Marker.

How about creating a Sweet Sorbet fun fold card full of flowers to a special friend to help them to celebrate.

A Basic White panel for writing a personal message was adhered onto the Sweet Sorbet inner Z fold. It was splattered using the Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Write Marker and the larger bee and heart was adhered partially over the white panel and the stamped floral image.  A Basic White C6 envelope was also stamped with the larger Dainty Delight image to coordinate with the card.

Thank you so much for dropping by on you way around the second to last Colour Creations Blog Hop for the 2023-2024 series. There will be so much Sweet Sorbet inspiration. Don’t miss any of the projects.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #48 Starry Sky

Starry Sky with Latte Love

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a deep blue called Starry Sky. Starry Sky is part of the soon to retire 2022-2024 In Colour Family and is a wonderful blue that can coordinate with so many colours. This colour is lovely for dark skies or even dark water, a blue and white colour scheme and anything with a deep blue.

Starry Sky is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper as well as Stargazing DSP; Holographic Trio Speciality Paper; In Colour Bakers Twine, Metallic Woven Ribbon; In Color Pearls; The Best Remedy Kit; and the Blossoms Remedy Kit.

Starry Sky ink, card-stock, Stampin’ Write Marker, Blends Combo, In Color Pearls, Metallic Woven Ribbon and In Color Bakers Twine have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Starry Sky bits and pieces.

As I was thinking of my project to feature Starry Sky, I checked out the Stampin’ Up! website and the products with Starry Sky. My eye caught the Starry Sky Keep Cup and so determined to use the Latte Love bundle. I finished up including the Quiet Meadows stamps and dies as well as one of the Gorgeous Garden dies. The latter items are retiring at the end of the month, while Latte Love is an On-Line Exclusive - I love it.

While stamping the top view of the mug (in Starry Sky on Basic White card-stock) I decided to convert it into a cup and saucer. The saucer was die cut with a circle die from the Reach for the Stars die set and then blended with Night of Navy and some Craft White inks using Blending Brushes. The “cup” was coloured with Stampin’ Blends, ie Starry Sky combo, Light Balmy Blue and the Colour Lifter.

I’m not sure if you can pick it up but after colouring the cup I thought I would add the latte heart design stamped in Crumb Cake ink. You may need to squint. IRL it is really subtle, but does add a little extra texture and ties in with the tiny “Love” tag.

Share love and a cuppa with a friend by sending a Latte Love card.

A small square of Basic White card-stock was covered with a floral die cut piece that was cut using the Gorgeous Garden dies. It was to give a sense of Damask Napkin. Some stems were die cut from Basic White card-stock using the Quiet Meadows dies. To add a pop of bright colour the flowers had a little Daffodil Delight ink blended over them. The tiny tag comes from the Quiet Meadows dies as well, as does the word “Love” come from the coordinating Quiet Meadows stamps.

The background panel and the Starry Sky card base were stamped with images from the Latte Love stamp set. The splodges and rings were either second or third generation stamping, where as the coffee beans were white heat embossed with Versamark Ink, White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool.

The final touches include a double bow with the Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon and the tag was attached with the In Color Bakers Twine. A few In Color Pearls were added near the tag.

A Basic White panel for writing a personal message was adhered in side the card. It also was stamped with second or third generation splodges and a tad of blending. The Basic White C6 envelope was similarly stamped with the splodges.

Funky Folds Blog Hop #2

ANYTHING GOES WITH A FUNKY FOLD

Welcome to the second Funky Folds Blog Hop.

We are a group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless. All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold.

Here is my Funky Fold card for April. I had other plans but recently saw a friend post the fold I had in mind so I decided to try a different fold. The Thick Basic White card-stock pieces for this fold were already cut to size on my work-station so decided to take it in a different direction. I hope you like my Gorgeously Made Funky Fold. No, I’m not blowing my own trumpet - the card features Stampin’ Up!s Gorgeously Made bundle and coordinating Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper. Sadly this delightful suite is retiring as it hasn’t carried over into Stampin’ Up!s new 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue that is commencing this coming May.

As you can see, this fun fold has a back panel and then smaller panels that layer on each side standing to the front. Each panel is covered with a slightly smaller piece of the beautiful  Masterfully Made DSP.

The two smallest front standing panels were decorated with various elements. The left front panel has a piece of Basic White card-stock that was cut on one side with the wonderful page binding die from the Gorgeously Made die set and 2nd generation stamping of worn text from the Gorgeously Made Stamp Set. A sliced in half piece of Silver & White Sheer ribbon was wrapped around the white panel and tied into a double bow. A sentiment from the stamp set was white heat embossed onto a small piece of Fresh Freesia card-stock and fussy cut out.

The other front panel was decorated with numerous leaves and flowers. The bottom leaf was die cut from Vellum (retiring) using the fuller of the Gorgeously Made dies. The other leaf die from the same set was used to cut a few leaf sprigs from Basic White card-stock. The other flowers and leaves were die cut using the Paper Florist dies - sadly, also retiring. The petals were die cut from a section of the DSP while the leaves were cut from Basic White card-stock. Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin’ ink was added to the DSP petals with a Blending Brush; while Pretty Peacock ink was lightly applied to the leaves/stems.

While the back panel could be left blank for writing the personal message, it has been decorated to enhance the overall effect of the card when standing on display. A sentiment from the continuing So Sincere stamp set was white heat embossed onto Fresh Freesia card-stock. It was cut into 3 before being added with Dimensionals near the centre so the words could be read while the card is standing. A white Gorgeously Made die cut leaf was tucked in behind the sentiment pieces. Some beautiful Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels (retiring) added a touch of shimmer around the sentiments and floral arrangement on the front and back panels.

The back of the card was simply decorated as a panel for writing one’s personal message. A C6 Basic White envelope was stamped in Fresh Freesia ink and then lightly blended over the edge with the same colour ink.

And ‘yes’, this funky fold still fits within a standard C6 envelope.

Thank you so much for dropping in on your way around the second Funky Folds Blog Hop. Thank you so much Bronwyn Eastley for instigating and coordinating this funky blog hop.

Up next is the lovely Monique Fielding from Stamping with MoniQ. I am looking forward to seeing Monique’s funky fold and to hopping around to check out everyone’s’ creations in our second Funky Folds Blog Hop. Just click on the graphic below to be taken to Monique’s blog.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #47 Soft Sea Foam

Soft Sea Foam with Wild Ferns

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.

This week’s Blog Hop is featuring a pale green called Soft Sea Foam. Soft Sea Foam is part of the Subtles Colour Family and is a delightful soft green that can coordinate with many colours. This colour would be lovely for leaves with other Subtles to colour flowers. It works beautifully with Lost Lagoon as a deeper green.

Soft Sea Foam is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Hello, Irresistible DSP.

Soft Sea Foam ink, cardstock and the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Soft Sea Foam bits and pieces.

I created a card to share with you featuring the dies of the gorgeous Wild Ferns bundle, which can be found in the current January-April 2024 Mini Catalogue. The great news is that this bundle is carrying over to the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue. There are so many wonderful products in the new catalogue. (I would be delighted to help you and send the new catalogue if you don’t have an Australian demonstrator already).

The delightful Wild Ferns dies were used with Basic White card-stock to cut a few layers of ferns to lay diagonally across the card. The die cut pieces  were coloured with Soft Sea Foam, Lost Lagoon and some Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ ink and Blending Brushes. A Basic White card-stock panel had a little Lemon Lolly ink blended in the top section so it would add a glow behind the ferns. Some Multipurpose Liquid Glue was lightly smeared onto the background and some Gilded Flakes laid over the glue and then loose bits were rubbed away leaving some fun gold accents. A piece of Soft Sea Foam coloured DSP from the Hello Irresistible DSP was cut diagonally near the top and added with Dimensionals over the background panel. (NB I had cut this panel when my thinking was a bit fuzzy and it was cut too short. As I was running low on this specific DSP, I added a piece of the same DSP with a thin strip of Gold Foil to use the mistake as an opportunity to add an accent for the sentiment.)

The fern die cuts were arranged behind the diagonal edge. It still needed something so little hearts were die cut from a Petal Pink/Flirty Flamingo mottled design from the same packet of DSP using the multi heart die from the Hooray for Surprises dies. A sentiment from the soon to retire Perennial Postage stamp set was stamped twice in Versamark ink onto Soft Sea Foam card-stock. one sentiment was white heat embossed and the other was gold heat embossed - the latter being fussy cut and added to the white sentiment with Mini Dimensionals. A thin strip of Gold Foil was adhered behind the sentiment.

Before the sentiment was adhered to the card front some of the soon to retire Gold Elegant Trim was deconstructed and two threads were twirled behind the word ‘loved’.  Some gold splattering was added by diluting the Gold Metallic Enamel Effects. It didn’t quite splatter as I had hoped - i think it needed to be a bit thinner - but then I didn’t want to dilute it to much. The final touch was a the addition some of the soon to retire Iridescent Rhinestones. I will miss these gorgeous embellishments. If you want some act quickly so you don’t miss out - they will be gone once the current stock is sold out.

A panel of Basic White card-stock was adhered within the card with a couple of pieces of fern and a heart together with a strip of Gold Foil. Simple additions that link the card inner to the front design.  A C6 Basic White Envelope was stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink with one of the fern stamps within the Wild Ferns set.

Thank you so much for dropping by on your way around the Soft Sea Foam Colour Creations Blog Hop. Do check out everyone’s creations. I love the way we each showcase the colour in different ways.

I hope to see you next week when we will be featuring Starry Sky as we near the conclusion of the weekly 2023-2024 Colour Creations Blog Hop series. We have 3 blogs remaining to finish this series - with the 3 colours all being retiring 2022-2024 In Colours.

Stay well, stay safe and be kind to yourself and others.
