Christmas with Stars at Night
Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Heart of Christmas Blog Hop.
This week I am showcasing a new bundle from the coming September-December Mini Catalogue. As a demonstrator, we have the ability to purchase from the new catalogue the month prior to general public access. It is a fun perk. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a demonstrator, I would be delighted to help you.
I created 2 cards that are “similar but different” featuring the Stars at Night bundle:
My pre-order arrived a couple of days ago and I couldn’t resist playing with the Stars at Night bundle … and I love it so much. There are so many creative opportunities. I wanted to play with the Stars at Night Hybrid Embossing Folder and create a card featuring the large embossed die cut star, so card 1 came into being.
CARD 1
A sheet or Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper was wet-on-wet water-coloured using Orchid Oasis, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ inks and a flat brush Water Painter. The sheet was left to dry and then cut in half before being trimmed with the second largest Deckled Rectangle die. The other panel was used for the second card (below). I had hoped the centre of the background panel would be lighter to give a look of glow coming from behind the star so I used my trusty Blending Brush with some White Craft ink to lighten the centre of the background panel.
A die that cut a multi pronged starburst with many tiny dots was used in the upper central area. (The tiny die cut holes don’t show very well in these photos.) Wink of Stella was splattered over the background. There was more splatter than planned but for me it could represent different sized stars and shooting stars, etc. Some of the Holographic Trio Speciality Paper was placed within the Stars at Night Hybrid Embossing Folder with the stars die positioned within the embossing folder. Can you see the embossed details on the central star. Isn’t it gorgeous. A few tiny stars were also cut from the Holographic Speciality Paper.
A flurry of tiny stars were randomly stamped in White Craft Ink on 2 opposite corners of the Starry Sky card base. The deckled background panel was mounted onto a slightly larger panel of the Boho Blue 2023-2025 Luster Speciality Paper. This card front was popped up on the Starry Sky card front with Dimensionals. The holographic stars were scattered in the ‘sky’ around the larger central star using either Mini Dimensionals or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
A sentiment from the Night Divine stamp set was white heat embossed on Starry Sky card-stock using White Emboss Powder, Versamark ink, the Embossing Accessories kit and a Heat Tool. The sentiment was fussy cut with Stampin’ Up!s Snips. The sentiment was centred across the star with Mini Dimensionals. A few Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels around the sentiment give a little extra sparkle.
A Basic White card panel was decorated with a left over thin strip of Boho Blue Luster Speciality Paper. The die cut star-burst that had been cut from the centre of the water-coloured card front was adhered to the card inner and a tiny holographic star was laid over.
CARD 2
After almost finishing the first card (above) I was relaxing and again browsing through the new Mini Catalogue and noticed the cards showing this gorgeous bundle. I had a closer look and realised the star in one of the cards was formed with numerous simple die cut star shapes that were layered one over the other. Wanting to try this I decided to use the other water-coloured panel to create a second card using a similar layout but changing the way the star was created and using gold rather than holographic silver.
Die cut stars were created from More Dazzle Speciality Paper, Gold Foil and Very Vanilla card-stock and extra tiny stars were cut from Gold Foil. The large central star was added with a Mini Dimensional between each layer. The tiny stars were adhered with tiny dots of Liquid Glue.
There is more Christmas creativity so continue with the blog hop. Just click the "next" graphic below to be taken to the blog of the talented Michele Taylor. I am looking forward to checking out Michele’s creation(s). I do love seeing everyones' projects - there is always so much inspiration.
I do hope to see you next week as we continue the weekly Heart of Christmas 2023 Blog Hop series until the end of November. Don’t forget that we will be blogging again on Wednesday evening for the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop. We will be featuring a delightful colour - Calypso Coral this week.

Wow, two stunning cards Andrea. I love both the holographic and gold layered stars, sorry I can't choose a fave.
ReplyDeleteWow, that holographic paper is stunning!
ReplyDeleteSuch rich, elegant, colours, Andrea - and both really beautiful cards. The holographic paper looks fab on your first card. I tend to pair silver with blues, but love the look of the gold on your second card (and the layered stars are great!).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Andrea. I can't wait to try out this bundle. I love blue and silver, but your gold card has won me over - just stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh wow this bundle is so beautiful and the design combinations using different papers in building the stars are endless. Andrea I love your watercoloured shining starry skies. Both beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm usually a silver person, I think your gold layered star card is my favourite, Andrea. However, both your cards are gorgeous with their rich deep blues. This is such a great bundle!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are stunning Andrea. That holographic star in the first looks amazing but although I am a silver fan the gold one is my favourite as I love the way the gold shows through all the tiny holes.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, two stunning cards using the same bundle. I love the gold one, but they are both amazing. Your watercolouring as always is gorgeous, but the way you have added the layering of the stars, is a real wow!
ReplyDeleteAs always your watercoloring is perfect Andrea. Card one, with the moody Starry Sky panel which is beautifully offset by the hologram star, is wonderful. Then, Card two with the glimpses of gold created by the diecut and the dimensional gold star, is simply stunning.
