CASE the Sale-a-bration Catalogue meets Delightful Wishes
Hello, Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and #502 Challenge with CASEing the Catty.
I am so glad you have dropped by. You may have come from Rachel Palmieri, as you make your way around this week’s Blog Hop or perhaps you arrived directly here; either way I am delighted you are here. At the end of my blog, I have linked to Peta Stephen so you can continue on with the Blog Hop.
At CASEing the Catty we love to use the samples from the Stampin' Up! Catalogues as inspiration and each week we have a different theme to guide our CASEing. To CASE is to "Copy And Selectively Edit" or some say "Copy And Share Everything". This week we are CASE-ing the projects found throughout the 2025 Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration Catalogue.
There are many projects to select from in the brochure. They can be a wonderful starting point when creating your project, whether you are inspired by the layout, techniques, colours or something else. For this week’s challenge I chose to base my project on a card shown on page 9 of the brochure. That has a section where ribbon was woven to form a background section:
I studied weaving many years ago and tried many different types of weaving so when I saw the woven ribbon panel in the Saleabration Brochure, I couldn’t go part CASEing that card. Rather than weave with ribbon with the weft coloured with a coordinating Stampin’ Blend to give a two-tone effect, I decided to weave with left over strips of white cardstock. I don’t know about you, but I had lots of white strips in my scraps plastic sleeve. It was great to use some of them up.
I started by ensuring that all the strips were the same width. One end of the strip was scored 1cm in from the edge. A piece of Basic White card-stock was cut to the required size for the woven panel. Some adhesive was added to the top and side edges and the warp pieces were laid on top with the scored edge folding to the back and adhering to the tape. From there the weft strips were woven under over all the downward (warp) strips, carefully fitting the weft pieces under the previous one. This was continued until the panel was covered with woven card-stock strips. The ends were folded around to the back and adhered in place. I love the effect. There are so many variations that could be achieved.
A panel from the Floral & Gingham Vellum covered the front of the Basic White card base, before the woven panel being positioned with Dimensionals. The Floral Delight Designer Series Paper incorporates some gorgeous floral designs, with some being able to be cut out with coordinating dies from the Delightful Wishes dies or they can be fussy cut, which is what I have done. They were positioned with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Dimensionals.
The coordinating dies include dies that cut the word “wishing” and a larger shadow die. The latter can be used to cut out the stamped “wishing”. The stamp set - Delightful Wishes stamp set, includes a number of follow on sentiments - depending on the occasion.
The card was finished with a trimmed piece of Iridescent Striped Ribbon, that was tucked under the sentiment. The some white sequins from the Purple Adhesive-backed Sequins were scattered around. They are one of the free Saleabration offerings with an appropriate Stampin’ Up! order during January and February.
Part flowers from the edge of DSP sheets were fussy cut and added inside the card to tie it with the overall card design. A Basic White C6 envelope was stamped with some 2 step flowers using Lemon Lolly and Daffodil Delight Classic Ink. I do like coordination between the card and envelope.
Thank you for dropping by. I so appreciate it.
