AWHT Colour Creations #32 Old Olive

Old Olive with Daffodil Daydream

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the third Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022.

This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a muted olive green called Old Olive. Old Olive is part of the Regals Colour Family and is a delightful versatile green. I love this green which works beautifully with various colours including So Saffron and Pool Party. My card uses Old Olive, So Saffron, a little Daffodil Delight and some Mango Melody. A second card had been planned that was going to include Pool Party but ran out of time given interruptions.

Old Olive is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, Watercolor Pencils and the Regals Designer Series Papers as well as Artfully Composed, Beauty of the Earth & New Horizons Designer Series Paper. There is also Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon &  Faux Sea Gloss shapes. The card below has used Old Olive Classic Stampin' ink, card-stock,  and Stampin' Blends plus a range of other non-OO bits and pieces.

Here is my card showcasing Old Olive:

I have created this card for a special friend how has gone the extra mile, well actually, the second and third mile to help me deal with a difficult situation. She is amazing.

CARD 1:

Using the colours depicted in the photograph shown above, the process commenced with blending colour on 3 different pieces of Basic White card-stock. Using Stampin' Up!'s brilliant Blending Brushes, Old Olive Classic Stampin' ink was applied ensuring a mottled effect was achieved. Half of another piece of card-stock was coloured very lightly with So Saffron ink; and the other half was coloured with So Saffron and Daffodil Delight ink to gain a darker mottled effect. The third pice of card-stock was coloured with So Saffron, Mango Melody and a touch of Calypso Coral with half being a lighter mottled blend and the other half a darker mottled blend. The Daffodil dies were used to cut out the daffodil pieces and leaves.

A Basic White piece of cardstock was embossed with the Stitched Greenery die. A piece of the Sale-a-bration Friendly Hello 12"x12" DSP was used for the card front and was mounted on a slightly larger piece Old Olive card-stock. This panel was popped up on Dimensionals.

The slightly darker pieces that were die cut to create daffodils were adhered to the coordinating lighter petals. The flowers were formed and then the leaves, buds & flowers were arranged. There was a lot of fiddling as I am no flower arranger. The daffodils were adhered with Dimensionals.

A bow was tied with a double piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding and a piece of Linen Thread was coloured with a dark Old Olive Stampin' Blend and tied around the bow knot into a bow. The bow was attached with Glue Dots.  A sentiment from a Saleabration stamp set "Special Moments" was stamped in Versamark ink on Old Olive card-stock and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and a Heat Gun. A few delightful Brushed Brass Butterflies were scattered around as the final touch. They are absolutely gorgeous embellishments.

A singe daffodil/leaves and a couple of butterflies were stamped in Old Olive ink onto a card-inner piece of Basic White card-stock. A thin strip of the same DSP as used on the card front panel edged the left side of the card inner. The C6 Basic White Envelope also was stamped with a daffodil and butterfly in Old Olive ink.

CARD 2:

As mentioned, my plan to create a second card didn't eventuate. I did stamp daffodils from the Daffodil Daydream stamp set in Smoky Slate Classic ink and colour them with a number of Stampin' Blends. While I have the coordinating dies I wasn't at my workstation and didn't want to get up so decided to fussy cut them out.
