AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop #19 Crumb Cake

Crumb Cake with Joy of Noel

Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week.
This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a wonderful neutral called Crumb Cake. Crumb Cake is one of the Neutrals Colour Family and is a lighter caramel colour. This colour is such a versatile neutral that can be used in so many different ways with so many colour combinations.

Crumb Cake is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Neutrals Designer Series Paper as well as O Holy Night, Zoo Crew, Beary Christmas, One Horse Open Sleigh and Les Shoppes DSPs; plus the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack; Adhesive Backed Speckled Dots;  and Boho Beach, A Million Thanks, Timeless Greetings Kits; and the Beary Christmas Memories & More cards. Another extensive list.

Crumb Cake card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends combo have been used in the creation of this project plus a range of non-Crumb Cake bits and pieces.

I started with completely different ideas for my Crumb Cake project. After deciding to use the Joy of Noel bundle I began creating with a different colour combination. I was crafting for a while and the project was taking form, but I wasn’t at all happy with the result. Then “life happened” and so I decided to finish the card in the morning. I woke with a different colour combination and sentiment in my thoughts so I followed this change of thought. This is the result.

The amazing Joy of Noel die cut with a Christmas foliage arrangement of holy etc around a label was used to cut a panel of both Basic White and Vellum card-stocks. The die was also used to cut a piece of Snowflake Magic Speciality Designer Series Paper and another Basic White card-stock piece. The centre label die from the same set of dies was used to cut Crumb Cake, Basic White and Lost Lagoon card-stocks together with the same Snowflake Magic SDSP. The Lost Lagoon label had a little White Craft ink added to the centre, fading out to the edges. It’s only subtle. The Crumb Cake, Snowflake Magic and Basic White labels were cut in half diagonally. The Lost Lagoon label was then mounted onto the Crumb Cake, Snowflake Magic and Basic White, ensuring a little of the underneath layers were showing. This required the two halves of each label to be spread apart underneath.

A Basic White card front was dry embossed with the Pine 3D embossing folder. Some splatters were added using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker. This panel was adhered directly to a Crumb Cake card-stock base.

One of the Basic White die cut panels had some Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ ink  gently added to the edges with a Blending Brush. The Vellum panel was adhered underneath and the die cut panels were positioned with Dimensionals. The Snowflake Magic piece was trimmed into 4 die cut strips that were tucked under the 4 edges of the central die cut panel. The final Basic White die cut panel was treated the same way.  The central layered label was adhered in the centre.

Another piece of Lost Lagoon card-stock was white heat embossed with the “NOEL” stamp from the Joy of Noel stamp set using White Emboss Powder, the Embossing Additions Tool kit and a Heat Tool. A piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet was attached underneath the heat embossed card-stock and then the letters were die cut with the coordinating dies. I do love Stampin’ Up!s coordination. The 4 letters were positioned on the central panel. The final touch was the addition of some Loose Holly Gems & Sequins, firstly in opposite corners of the central panel, with extra holly leaves scattered amongst the die cut foliage. Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels were lightly coloured with a Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and they were scattered near holly leaves to represent the Holly berries.

The card inner is a piece of Basic White card-stock stamped in Crumb Cake ink with a Christmas arrangement from the Joy of NOEL stamps. A different sentiment from the same stamp set was also added in Crumb Cake ink. A C6 Basic White envelope was also stamped in Crumb Cake ink with the Christmas arrangement.

Thank you for calling in to check out my Crumb Cake card. I do appreciate you spending time with me.

  1. Andrea, I love the way you've die cut a piece of Snowflake Magic Speciality Designer Series Paper - it adds such a lovely touch of bling! Your colour combination is fabulous too!

  3. Gosh, what a beautiful colour combination, Andrea! I love the watercolour-washed Crumb Cake foliage against the shiny metallic-looking paper on the front of your card. I also really like the simplicity of the stamping inside the card, in contrast to the elaborate card front. Just lovely.

  6. Even though the end result isn't what you thought you were going to create Andrea, it truly is just beautiful. Lost Lagoon looks surprisingly fabulous with Crumb Cake and the Snowflake Magic paper is a perfect choice.
