Christmas with Rustic Crate
Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the second Art with Heart Heart of Christmas Blog Hops for 2024. This 2024 series runs from August until the end of November. I hope you can check us out each week as I know there will be so many different projects shared with a range of ideas to help your Christmas preparations.
I love creating and sharing Christmas creativity with you. This week I am focussing on a bundle from the current Annual Catalogue that carried over from a previous Catalogue. The Rustic Crate bundle has stamp and dies to create a crate with a number of different contents. Among the images of things to go in the crate are poinsettias, which I’m using this week. To add some extra fun the card is a fancy fold. There is also a coordinating gift tag.
The crate was created using the Rustic Crate dies and one of a Pecan Pie designs from Nature’s Sweetness Speciality Designer Series Paper together with Pecan Pie card-stock (for the back section). I don’t think one can see that the poinsettias are sitting in a cute little folded crate - ah well at least I know and if its given to a paper-crafter, they are likely to check it out.
A Thick Basic White card base was scored, folded and burnished; then covered with 3 designs of the gorgeous Nature’s Sweetness Speciality Designer Series Paper. The opened card is shown near the end of the blog. The poinsettias were gold heat embossed on Basic White card-stock and coloured with Stampin’ Blends, ie Cherry Cobbler combo, Light Real Red, Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light Daffodil Delight, Old Olive combo and Dark Granny Apple Green Blends. As I wanted to cut the two poinsettias apart to have 3 sitting in/on the crate, I fussy cut them all. The second separated flower was tucked under the crate on the LHS.
The label was die cut from Basic White card-stock using one of the Countryside Corner dies and then stamped with the willowy plants in 2nd generation Pecan Pie Classic Stampin’ ink.
Some Pecan Pie Centre Stripe Ribbon (an Online Exclusive) was tied around the fun fold card with a little Tear ‘n Tape adhesive tucked under the ribbon on the top layer of the card (the white and distressed gold SDSP). The label was adhered over the ribbon, ensuring the Multipurpose Liquid Glue was only applied to the back of the label where it sits on the top layer of the card. The crate, poinsettias and gold foil die cut foliage (cut using the Layers of Beauty dies) were arranged with Glue Dots and Dimensionals. A different sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set were gold heat embossed, then fussy cut and added with Mini Dimensionals.
Panels of the SDSP were also adhered inside the card. A Basic White panel was gold heat embossed with another sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamps. An extra coloured poinsettia image was adhered on this panel as well. A Basic White C6 envelope was gold heat embossed on the flap with the poinsettia image (not pictured).

Simply stunning, Andrea! I love the strips of foiled DSP and the brightly coloured poinsettias too. And the matching tag is an extra delightful addition.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous project Andrea! I had completely forgotten about these Poinsettias (and I love them!). The combination of all your gold elements with the neutral papers and your colouring is just breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Andrea. Love all the gold accents that complement the beautiful Poinsettia flowers with a bonus fancy fold! Poinsettias are one of my favourite Christmas motifs and they add a fabulous pop of colour.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christmas card Andrea, the hints of gold with your beautifully coloured poinsettias are fantastic
ReplyDeleteI love the pop of colour that the richly-coloured poinsettias provide, against those luxe papers, Andrea. This is a beautiful card and tag ... lots of visual interest, and very festive!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice of papers to use for a Christmas card Andrea. Love all of the elements especially the gold embossing and colouring of the poinsettias.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Andrea. I adore your use of the different patterned specialty papers, and they go perfectly with your crate full of richly coloured poinsettias! Then you create a stunning tag as well, amazing!
