CASE A Punch Project meets Snowy Wonder

At CASEing the Catty we love to use the samples from the Stampin' Up! Catalogues as inspiration and each week we have a different theme to guide our CASEing. To CASE is to "Copy And Selectively Edit" or some say "Copy And Share Everything". This week we are CASE-ing projects that have used a punch in some way in either the 2024-2025 Stampin' Up!  Annual Catalogue or the 2024 September-December Mini Catalogue.

There are numerous projects showcasing the range of punches offered by Stampin’ Up! They can be a wonderful starting point when creating your project. For this week’s challenge I chose to CASE a project on page 120 of the Annual Catalogue. It is the card on the left featuring the Curved Label Punch.

I love the idea of incorporating something that can swing and twirl on the front of a card and decided to incorporate an additional form of movement - a shaker section. Here is the card:

I almost didn’t purchase the Snowy Wonder Bundle as I was thinking that we don’t have snow here in Australia at Christmas time, however, I am so glad I weakened as I have had so much fun creating this card. Ever since visiting the Little Penguins on Phillip Island I have been super partial to penguins, remembering the chatter as they walked up the beach to spend the night. Also, as a child I adored the fun of snow globes.

I decided to create a snow globe with a little scene inside a shaker section plus a little penguin dancing and twirling on the outside. The Snowing Wonder images are so cute and I stamped a number of images onto Basic White card-stock using Crumb Cake, Momento Black, Garden Green and Pool Party inks. Before cutting them out, I partially coloured the images with Stampin’ Blends, ie Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Granny Apple Green, Pecan Pie, Calypso Coral, Lemon Lolly combos and the Colour Lifter to add some shading and give a little dimension.

A piece of Petal Pink snow flake Snowy Scenes  Designer Series Paper was added as background to a Petal Pink card base. A piece of Basic White card-stock was stamped with the Falling Snow stamp using a light amount of Pool Party Classic ink. The stamp was inked with a Pool Party ink pad and then a Blending Brush was used to soften the amount of ink. The photos don’t seem to pick up the stamping which is delicate in real life. The larger snow globe die from the Snowy Wonder die set cut a hole in the panel and another piece of Basic White card-stock was adhered to the background. A little Pool Party blending was added with a Blending Brush to the section that was to be visible later. 

A scene was created with the stamped and coloured images. Some cute little White Loose Snowflakes were positioned in the centre of the scene. Some Window Sheet was adhered over the die cut hole using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The globe stand was die cut from Petal Pink card-stock. A curved hole was punched out using the Curved Label Punch and the little penguin was positioned as described on page 120 of Stampin’ Up!s Annual Catalogue. The card front was adhered in place using some Foam Adhesive Strips positioned around the globe hole and the edge of the panel. 

A sentiment from the same stamp set was white heat embossed using some Wow Emboss Powder on to Petal Pink card-stock and then fussy cut out. Snowflakes were cut from Basic White card-stock using a detailed die from the Snowy Wonder dies. These snowflakes together with tiny snowflakes from the White Loose Snowflake embellishments were scattered around the card front.

A Basic White card inner was simply decorated with some light Pool Party blending and a little die cut penguin and tree. A Basic White C6 Envelope (not pictured) was stamped with a few Garden Green trees. As you may know, I do like to simply decorate the card inner and envelope to coordinate in some way with the card design.
