CARD 1:
As mentioned, this card features the beauty of Pool Party as a blended background, although the colour has been tied in with the askew mount, the sentiment and the delightful Sheer Ribbon.
Back on the 19th January we were showcasing Old Olive and I created a card using the Daffodil dies. I had hoped to create a second card using the coordinating Daffodil Daydream stamp set and had coloured & fussy cut the gorgeous daffs. That was as far as I got and have had the daffodils sitting on my desk waiting to be used.
A Pool Party blended background on a piece of Basic White card-stock was perfect for the Daffodils. The background was coloured with Stampin' Up!s Blending Brush - its such a great tool. Some water droplets were flicked over the background and a Pool Party Stampin' Write Marker added some splatters. This background panel gained added texture with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.
The free Sale-a-bration Friendly Hello bundle has some Pool Party designs in the DSP which was cut for use as an askew mount. (This is a delightful bundle - free with a spend of $180. You have until the 16th March to take up this wonderful offer.) Inspiration also came from the Global Design Project's challenge a week or so ago that was to case a card by a member of the Design Team. The card used an askew mount - I loved it and wanted to give it a go.
The already stamped (in Smoky Slate Classic ink) and coloured (with Stampin' Blends Combos, ie So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Old Olive & Pale Papaya with the Colour Lifter) daffodils were positioned on the blended and embossed background with Mini Dimensionals.
The card front was finished with a sentiment from the same stamp set that was White heat embossed on Pool Party card-stock. The luscious Pool Party Sheer Ribbon was cut in half lengthwise, tied into a bow and placed beneath the sentiment. Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels added some shimmer, together with a little Wink of Stella.
The card inner mounted a piece of Basic White card-stock onto a 2nd piece of the Pool Party DSP. The white panel had already been stamped with a daffodil and butterflies in Smoky Slate ink. Similarly, a Basic White C6 Envelope was stamped with a daffodil & butterflies in Smoky Slate ink. I love to coordinate the envelope with the card inner, and both coordinating with the card front design.
CARD 2:
This second card features Pool Party on the focal butterflies, the sentiment and another askew mount.
The Butterflies and Floral Layering Decorative Masks were used to colour the large butterfly. Pool Party Classic ink plus a little Mint Macaron ink coloured the first layer of the butterfly using a Stampin' Up! Blending Brush. The second layer of the design was coloured with Misty Moonlight. I wanted to try an asymmetric design, using part of the floral mask on the right wing. Two detailed butterflies were cut using the Brilliant Wings dies from Basic White card-stock. Vellum was layered underneath. The smaller of the 2 die cut butterflies was coloured with the same Blending Brushes used on the larger butterfly.
The Basic White background card-stock piece has blending in Smoky Slate using one of the background masks from the same packet of masks. This background piece was added askew onto a piece of Pool Party card-stock and a piece of Simply Elegant Trim was wrapped around a couple of times and tied into a bow. This card front also was added askew to the Thick Basic White card-stock base. I must be feeling wonky this week. 😉
As I was positioning the butterflies - it seemed to need something, so I added some Silver Heat Embossing on some of the wings' edges. The large butterfly was added with Dimensionals down the centre (body). The 2 smaller detailed butterflies (with Vellum beneath) were attached to the card front at the body with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
A sentiment from the Special Moments Sale-a-bration free stamp set was Silver heat embossed on Pool Party card-stock, fussy cut and added with Mini Dimensionals. Rhinestone Basic Jewels were sprinkled around for that touch of bling.
The Basic White card inner had some partial masking added in Smoky Slate. A thin strip of Pool Party card-stock was added to the LHS. Similarly, a Basic White C6 Envelope also had some Smoky Slate masking added the back flap.
Andrea I just love these asymmetrical askew mount cards (wow, that's a mouthful!). You've used these masks so beautifully in such a variety of ways - truly amazing cards.
ReplyDeleteStunning Andrea. I love those soft colours on the daffodils, but both cards are really great.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards, Andrea. I love the sentiment, ribbon, and pretty colour palette on your first card. The second card is my favourite - awesome colour combo, and beautiful effects created by blending colour through masks. Gorgeous!
